If that's any good, maybe I can convince my SO to try it. She has been wanting to get better at typing for awhile.

it's great for -learning to type faster-

But for already-fast people, it's just too easy, because the game progress is designed from slower to faster..

It claims the difficulty is adaptive based upon your WPM in the game, but I'm not very far in so it's been fairly easy thus far. It's clear it would be great for beginners though, if I had a kid I would get this for them in a heartbeat. I wish the game were harsher on typos though, perhaps that comes later.

It looks absolutely stunning. And it seems to have a great story as well.
I've only seen snippets on streams. Haven't wanted to spoil the story for myself.

Tried out sea of thieves on a whim with a free game pass trial to see how it is, I was really disappointed. The core mechanics of the game are cool, and lots of fun with friends. But only for like 5 hours until you run out of things to do in the game. After some research I found out that there's a community hosting the old Pirates of the Caribbean mmo. Honestly, having a ton more fun with a resurrected mmo from 2007 than sea of thieves. Definitely recommend if you want some casual pirate fun.

Anyone tried out Welcome to the Game II?
Looks really interesting, been watching some streamers play it.
Not for me though, but I do love watching people play it.

typing games, obv

Typing of the Dead is an awesome game. It's literally just House of the Dead 2 but you type words instead of shooting.

There's a japanese sequel too, playable with an english keyboard.

I've always been curious about typing games, they are usually pretty boring (but then I also type over 100WPM).

Flare: Empyrean Campaign

It's probably the best community-developed open-source action RPG (read: Diablo clone) out there, which is honestly quite disappointing, when you consider that the campaign was released only a month ago and not 15 years ago. Not a bad game though.

Honestly just get a PS3. The games are pretty cheap for now, it plays PS1/PS3 games, is completely region free for JAP and EU exclusives, and has one of the strongest game libraries of any console ever made.

I may be a huge Neo Geo and PcEngine fan, but PS3 has all my favorite games.

I don't really replay games all that much and I feel like for $100 a year it might be more economical too. I feel like with the games that I want to play, I'd have to hold a subscription for 3 years before I break even between that and buying a PS3+games. I'm also kinda into Dualshock 4 (I need new controllers, my good ole xbox 360 wired finally caved). I just worry about input lag/the queue times :/

Though maybe I should just get the trial... totally forgot that was a thing...

Does bare metal degrade faster than virtualization software (bit rot)?

Woo, got Witcher 3 all modded and tweaked to my liking all ready to play. Actually had to go rooting around in the ini files to tweak some settings properly, but it's super cool that the devs even let you do that. Very cool.

So now I got it looking beautiful and running at a stable(ish) 30fps, which is pretty good for all the mods and ancient system I'm running it on. Before I was getting around 55 fps on LOW settings with no mods at all, now it looks better than Ultra and 2x as fast  as that (Ultra settings I get 12-16 fps.)

PC master race indeed.

Nice :) Even just with the in-game graphics settings a few things like Shadow Quality affect framerate pretty significantly. I played on Ultra for everything else (hairworks + AA disabled) but still kept Shadow Quality on medium since in my comparison tests it only affected distant objects noticeably. I later used Reshade to add back some smoother AA.

Y'know, I typed up a paragraph or two about the new BATTLETECH game a few days ago, but I guess I forgot to click "post". Yada yada, the new initiative system is weird and not intuitive, so I don't know how to use it strategically; I just move units and attack when it says I can. I imagine that won't be sufficient when the game gets harder. I wish it just used the tabletop game's rules.

We used to do that about once a year at my job. We were relegated to old games since most new games don't let users host their own games, and we weren't allowed to use the Internet connection. The guy who put it together isn't here anymore, nor are many of the old players who attended.

Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

In college, we didn't have any install access (or at least didn't want to abuse the privileges) on the computers so I would put League/Steam games onto an external hard drive and play off of that. Fun times.

Also update on the PS life, I ended up buying 2 Dualshock 4 controllers (I needed new controllers as my old 3rd party wired xbox360 controllers are starting to crap out). I kinda hate how Windows handles DS4. DS4Windows makes it slightly better though I guess. Seems pretty annoying though but maybe I'm doing something wrong??

I've never used the newer Dualshocks but I have four DualShock 1/2 controllers that work perfect with a converter (Super Joy Box Pro). Might be something to look into if you prefer the design of Playstation controllers. I also have 360 controllers, PowerLead (dualshock clone with extra buttons), Razer Serval (mechanical buttons), and TNP Xbox controllers. I prefer 360 controllers but the Razer is a close second, TNP and PSX/PS2 controllers trailing the Razer, and the PowerLead a distant last.

DS4 has native configurability on Steam via its controller scheme settings (I believe it's only available to configure in the Big Picture mode settings), however I too use DS4Windows.

Not sure if Steam now allows for disabling the lightbar, if it does then you'll save a lot of battery life since that consumes the most battery.

Best tip I received was use Bluetooth exclusively and charge via a power outlet directly, rather than plugging the DS4 into the system via USB to charge. Otherwise I've found it can be annoying re-connection dance with Windows that often has issues.

DS4 is so nice, ergonomically. Used to loathe the previous gen DualShocks.

Guess some prefer the solid cross, though I find the separated design puts less pressure on my fingers vs the solid designs (which appear on what seems like most other gamepads).

Mostly been playing CS:GO and Street Fighter V PC version. My backlog of games is so huge that's it's become nearly impossible to catch up to these days.
