Deleting your own posts.

Why can't you delete your own post?  I click "show new replies to your posts" and there are threads that appear that I can remove all the content from my message, but not delete it?
How come?

I think we used to have that ability, but if you delete a post that someone has already quoted, it kinda makes the thread less meaningful.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You can edit posts at least, but it's annoying when sellers do and you say "the hell was for sale? What price? What what?". That is truly annoying. Deleting may be just as annoying or worse.

If you really want it gone, pm a mod.

I think part of the official answer was the database didn't like things disappearing.

I don't know, but the messages were insignificant by any means.  I hope it can be done, because I click "Show new replies to your posts, and I get a thread I am not interested in any longer.

Edit: If you could just "ignore" a thread you posted in, then when you click "Show new replies to your posts" it won't include the thread you "ignore".  That would work too.

Pretty much this.

The database doesn't do well when posts are deleted. When mods "delete" a post, it just goes into a special subforum where normal users can't see it.
