Got a question, what's the reason behind a big expansion kit like that?

From my understanding of what I've been told, there's a bottom line a per-kit pricing that comes from this manufacturer where price-per-key largely benefits from larger kits. And since these kits are much cheaper to manufacture and therefore sell, there's room in the budget to sell it as such. This also makes sure that there are plenty of these obscure child kits in the wild, easier to acquire after the fact.
GMK Cafe's 40's kit was $53. This add on kit might be less than that while containing all of these other bits. :)
People bombarded the GMK Mudkip IC with this question, but I don't see any mention here. Is TKC/Infinikey going to produce a kit tied so closely to Nintendo? The novelties are essentially cloned from the game which seems like an immediate takedown/cease and desist request once it gets on a product page. Love the idea and want to see it happen, but curious if it will run in current form.
The brown legend color on mod is a bit too strong IMO.
Is there a version with Mod legend using alpha's base color?
How thick are infinikey pbt caps?
What a lovely set!
Any chance of the leaf novelty in the base set?
Hey I love it!
But I wanna change some things about the novelties.
Why have only 1u novelties for R2? Wouldn't it be better to have a 1.5 replacement for tab?
Also with R3, apart from enter, you need one for caps lock.
For R4, I'd love to have a 2.75u shift novelty. How about the vaulting pole?
I'd also love an ISO enter with the axe.
Hey, just thought about this; are there any plans to have a deskmat to go along with this set? It wouldn't have to have any explicitly AC stuff on it necessarily. Like maybe an island surrounded by ocean in the sun or something. Or just some kind of pattern of AC-like items like the leaf using the color scheme of the set.

Yes! It's a WIP
Have you experimented with making the mod legends a darker lightness of the same hue on the mods? I.e. a darker green (but same hue) legend on the green mod, etc?
Interesting choice of colors (I'd now need to have not a beige case, but a sand colored one).
Regarding the layout, I see its following Infinikey's actually pretty good template for the base and expansion kits. That said, there are a couple suggestions I'd make to improve this IC (and the template).
1) The base kit has two `~ keys, as is standard: alpha-colored and a mod-colored. That said, in this key there's "left-mod" (green" and "right-mod" (blue colors), and this key is only available as left-mod. Perhaps there could be an additional right-mod version of it, for the compat 60% keyboards that move it to the right side of the keyboard.
2) Swap the R3 #~ (UK-only) in the base kit with the R3 \| (US only) key in the expansion kit. This is a problem shared with all the recent Infinikey sets, which (IMNAAHO) should be solved before it gets "codified", so to speak, as the "correct" way (which... isn't). For extra brownie points, an R4 <> keycap could be added, to allow both PC style and terminal style to be supported.
HTH!

Thanks for the note about the `~ as for your comment about the ISO keys: while you seem to be more vocal about your preferences than some, I've head others prefer it the way I have here as not to have duplicate of backslash-pipe on R3 and 4.

Well, you could go "terminal style" instead and avoid that duplication (at the expense of adding one key to the mega add-on kit).

It’s always tough to please everyone.
Have you considered a smaller, cheaper, base kit and a few regional expansion kits? Uk iso, expanded ansi, EU iso etc.?

Definitely joining! Any deskmats planned?
I love it! Needs an ortho set though

I demand a smaller and cheaper kit that nevertheless contains more keys and better compatibility. And accents for all. It's, like, TOTALLY doable and stuff. ;D ;D ;D

I was actually asking for a smaller base kit with paid for expansions, like UK ISO, etc. But okay?
I'm definitely in on this one. So many awesome keycaps, but not enough boards(that I own)!
YOOO! BEST NEWS! How the heck did you get this to GB so fast?!
-What are the RAL or Pantone colors codes you are using? And, more specifically, what colors are you color-matching for the blue, green, and brown?Any answer for this?
Canadian vendor please!
Canadian Proxy Added: Deskhero
Are these dye-sub or laser etched? laser etched wont last as long and i hope these will last me a while if i buy them. Otherwise Terrific Job! These look amazing!
How long will this GB run for?
Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but what profile are these?
Can't wait for the GB. My poor wallet is not enjoying this month.
I hope we can see some samples in the future! Love the colors and hope that they come out well!!+1
Would be totally in if we can see samples and color codes!
Trying to figure out, does the base or expansion come with a 2U right shift key? The base keys aren't labeled with sizes so I am not sure. Trying to see if I can get it to fit my ducky one 2 SF that uses a 2u right Shift.

The Key Company site has the sizes in the screenshots at https://thekey.company/collections/group-buys/products/infinikey-pbt-islander. You'll need the expansion kit for the 2u right shift.
I also note The Key Company still has some images with the older version of the leaf that had some questionable IP issues. Hopefully, those images won't upset a certain company.
I dont have a ton of hours on AC yet (just finished paying off my home loan and got the store built), so maybe I just haven't come across this yet. What is this supposed to be?:

Prototypist is UK. If these doesn't ship until next year and there's a hard Brexit, Europeans have to pay import taxes.
Proto[Typist] is acting as lead vendor on this one, doing the negotiating with GMK etc and running the GB with the designer after talking about the project at a UK meetup and is effectively a UK community project.
I understand the concerns, and GMK timelines still show the set shipping in October. From delivery to buyer shipping turnaround will be 1 day, so its highly likely that shipping will occur in 2020 and we will be working with GMK to achieve that.
Whilst you are right that we dont know the UK's position within the EU and any shipping / VAT or other constraints in 2021, there are contingency plans in place to ensure that shipping can be conducted without inference of additional fees should delivery of the GMK sets take place in 2021.
Also, VAT will be paid on these items at point of sale where it is due; and will be marked as such when shipped if any delays push the delivery into 2021. The GB takes place as an EU transaction at the moment and is bound by the single market and customs union rules. Those rules state that goods sold under them should only be inclusive of VAT once. There will be many many businesses that sell something in 2020 that ships and is delivered after the changes take place; and both the EU and UK have said that those customers should not be impacted.
Finally, its highly likely that the current end-date of Dec 2020 for the UK to formally leave the EU trade agreements will be extended given the impact the Corona Virus has had on the economy and this is something myself and my accountant are paying close attention to.
