I removed my Dell Spacebar for cleaning and now when i try to click it back on it just lies flat and doesn't work at all. I tried removing the wide 'U' shaped bar on the back of the key to insert it in to the pinholes (pic below) separately but still no dice. Any and all timely help is appreciated.

Dont see a problem here.
Just fit one of the springs in the holes on the sides. Than place the spacebar over the switches and firmly press the spacebar down.
Did this over 100 times never went wrong.

Check the wiki.

I don't want to open keycaps with stabilizers. To pull them out is already hard, but to put it back in is even harder.

You're missing the rubber dome.

You could just steal a dome from one of the lesser used keys (e.g. F6 or right Alt or something) and use that, though your keyboard will suffer cosmetics wise.
