Quick question, if we submitted the form before this GB thread opened, are we all set, or do we need to fill the form out again?
Title: Re: [GB] LZ St : Open

Will the weight be engraved with the old name or the new name, or not at all?

W00t! :)
There is no order form link on the OP.  :'(

Quick question, if we submitted the form before this GB thread opened, are we all set, or do we need to fill the form out again?

I filled it out from LZ's website too a few days ago.

Are the photos what the final finish would look like?  Seems to be kind of a brushed steel.  Would like to see what it would look like on red or black, not wild about it on the silver...looks very raw.  Of course, that may be the look that they were going for.

Is it possible to buy the keyboard without a PCB?
I want to use the Clueboard PCB, because I prefer the QMK firmware over Jigon. I am pretty tight on money right now, so the $50 saved on the Leeku PCB would help me out a lot.

I'm quite a fan of the brushed finish.
A keyboard like this in a diamond blasted stainless steel would be something quite special.

I always meant to ask this in the IC thread. I understand that this has the Leopold FC660 layout, but what does it do differently or better than a more traditional 65% layout like the Rama65A?

I believe "letter on bottom case" means some engraving on the bottom piece like on the LZ-CLS (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=87239) keyboard:

Yesssss! Still would love a Red high profile MX HHKB, but this will cease that itch for a while. We'll see which awesome creator decided to make the next one! :)

I love the Red case + Beige keycap combo, just looks so good, in my opinion! Grey too.

Dear LZ,

On the order form, I filled out the colour of Leds to be Orange or Yellow (I forgot).

PLEASE can you rectify the colour to PURPLE.  Really want the leds to be Purple, it's the only colour in which I don't have in my collection.

Really looking forward to this one, this order is for me alone and not for any other relative.

You can install adhesive front feet to level off the angle to exactly 7 or 8 degrees.  Done it before with another LZ keyboard, works perfectly without it looking bunked.

LifeZ frequently posts photos of unfinished prototypes--they've been cut and have the right shape, but no sandblasting or anodizing yet.  Hence the finish you see.

The cherry silent blacks are new, right?

Are they comparable to vint blacks in terms of smoothness and feel?

Thanks! :)

No idea tbh. I've not tried either yet but I have a vintage black board in the works and am hoping to have some silents by the time the wait for this is over.  I've read that newer cherry switches are generally pretty smooth, but it seems like hardly anyone has even used silent blacks yet so information is a bit scarce.

The only currently available keyboard using the new Silent Blacks are the RGB Pok3rs, currently selling at MassDrop.

Buy one and see how it compares to the older Blacks made years ago.  I put in an order for one Pok3r with Silent Blacks installed, just out of curiosity.

???

The new tooling was introduced with MX silents. Any board made after mid-late 2016 has the new switches. The first person to notice took the switches out of a Leopold.

Better put in your orders before the 12th because it's coming up fast.

Word of note here, LZ never builds the same keyboard again.  He doesn't do re-runs and it's a group buy strictly for NEW designs only.

I remembered when he ran his first GB in Korea, never had the chance to get in on it but now he is here I will never again avoid any of his interesting keyboard designs.

Looking forward to paying for this and seeing it built in South Korea (home land of super quality, hand built keyboards)   8) .

Filled out mine a day after he provided the order link to his Korean site, way before he set up this page here.

Just goes to show he monitors everything, nothing gets past him when it comes to accepting orders from us lot.  Also it looks like he'll be building this keyboard far quicker than usual.

Good news for those who can't wait with getting their hands onto his latest Masterpiece  :thumb: .

He may re-do it if there are lots of people demanding it but be aware, he always changes names on any future keyboard designs.

Besides I actually like his designs overall, they're very conservative, solid and built to his particular standard which is always way above all other manufacturers on this planet.

LZ is the King of Keyboards when it comes to solid built Aluminium all using any variety of CherryMX Switches  :thumb: .

You certainly picked the right custom keyboard, in losing your data entry virginity too  :thumb: .

Be proud of that, you should of seen the grubby skank-keyboards I was forced to use before ever encountering a luscious LZ up close  ;) .

A couple questions before the order check starts:
- Will the Leeku PCB have pre-soldered RGB underglow LEDs? I assume so as an optional diffuser is offered, but the order form does not mention RGB LEDs in the PCB's features.
- Will the brass weight be coated?

Anybody got some pics?

I looked at these pictures of OTD weights this afternoon and decided that I like brass better on silver or grey boards than black ones:

The LZ-St weight seems to be polished, though. The feeling could therefore be different.

Precisely, only going by LZ's own time table that he has set here.  You are a funny guy suggesting I want it sent via snail mail, sorry sunshine I maybe old but I do all my payments via paypal so no postal usage required other than email.

Haven't received anything as of yet but I really want this bill because once you've paid for it, then it's actually happening  8) .

Yeah for sure, I wasn't saying you were asking for it to be delivered in the post, I was referring to your post, as in posts like what I'm doing right now. Posting. Anyway, I just got an email with an invoice but it's unclear if it's for this or the lightsaver. Need to figure out what I've spent...

EDIT: just saw megaforce post, guess it's for this then.

that's a really good assembly price.  I'll be using it if I ever join a GB, just not a small form factor user

Same here I usually buy lots of 104 keyed monster's but after a while you get bored always getting the aircraft carrier sized keyboards.

This little baby is for myself to use it helps to concentrate my usage on less keys instead of always being surrounded with tonnes of extra keys to press.

Looking forward to this one mainly because it will be an all purpose built keyboard for me to use, all I have to do is supply the key-caps and plug it into my PC.

LifeZ,

The Order Check spreadsheet has changed since the last time I saw it..it's very messy and inaccurate now. I didn't order a stainless steel switch plate. :(

Can you please confirm that the below is my order? I already paid for it.

1xRed LZ ST
(With Red aluminum switch plate, PCB included)
1x Brass weight
1xDiffuser

1x Extra PCB
1x Extra Red Aluminum switch plate

Thank you very much!

To everyone else, I would make sure your order is correct. Let's hope LifeZ will fix the spreadsheet. :(

So strange how it doesn't show up the same way on mobile.

It was a surprise even for me because normally your cases do not come out this quickly, not even Varmilo works this fast in making keyboards and shipping them that quickly.

Please take your time here, we want PERFECTION with every keyboard made and I know your standards are way higher than most others here on GH Central  8) .

You bet but I think LZ made a mistake for providing the CLS crew with a carrying case and not providing one for this true "portable" styled keyboard.

Even if he offers a nice carry case for this ultra-fine keyboard model, I would still fork out more moolah for it easily.

Supreme keyboards such as the St need their carrying case, just like hand guns, cameras or jewellery  8) .

Just read what LZ posted in his CLS GB  :o .

That was why he provided an 'extra', which was the keyboard bag to help alleviate anyone's concern for the expanded timeline of his keyboard.

If it helps here, would be glad in just getting this keyboard but I am not stopping you at all if you decide to put in an 'extra' like a keyboard carry bag (being greedy)  8) .

Won't cry if it doesn't happen because he always delivers on his keyboards, especially with his own style and quality.

YES the burr exists due to having both sides of the polycarbonate covered in a clear plastic sheet.  The sheet is there to protect the polycarbonate from any scratches BUT it's a pain to use lazers with.

We had some pieces cut many years ago and it left rough edges on any polycarbonate sheet but it leaves silky smooth cuts on Carbon Steel and Ceramics.

BLOODY Hell, don't jinx it yet buddy.  Just like any Performer you NEVER mention the CURRENT piece of work as going 'smoothly' because of what might yet occur  :o   .

LZ could be struck down by the Gods for ever beating them with producing something far grander than they could ever achieve in their life times.  YES, as a confirmed LZ fanboy we need to keep this GB going nicely and praising him for doing good work.  But as you know, Geehack can lavish glory and reverence one day then burn you alive the next day, if anything goes wrong.

This place doesn't support failure in any way, shape or form.  Hence best to always remain positive and hope your keyboard comes to you done right, courtesy of LZ.  He is our own Deity of Keyboards but like all Gods, he can easily become hated if the sky falls in on us all, here on GH Central  ;) .

AGREED.

Take your time in doing mine, there is no fuss or urgency from my end.

All I know is when you build it and it gets delivered to my front door, the heavens above shine a light of remembrance for all the previously made keyboards, with their utter failure to capture LZ's perfection.

For those buying his keyboard for the first time, trust me it won't be your last purchase from this Korean Artisan.

LZ and Duck generally do things similarly, so it should be marked around $30.

However, some countries and offices will ask you to show the specific invoice when you pick it up from the office.

Finally had time to build mine. Box whites are great. I figured out you can still use leds with them if your only looking for underglow. They probably wouldn’t work well with a backlit keyset, but who uses those anyways? They will always remain off, but it’s nice knowing they’re there lol.

My parcel has been returned to sender  because of prohibited items - a gold plate :) I'm stupefied by Australian Customs and Border Control???!!! This was not as funny as I thought. Actually my parcel was returned to the sender because the case was put in a fruit box :) Australia doesn't allow any kind of food and especially fruit to enter the country. Please, LZ use a normal  packaging  not food boxes :)

Wait, they didn't even check to see what's inside it? What a bunch of dimwits.

No mate this is Straya. That's how strict we are or maybe it's easier this way not to give a sh#t!
I received a call from EMS today.
The product is back .....
I wrote down the name of the product inside.
No other country had any problem with the shipping, not just the name of the box.
I do not think there is a reason why I have to pay shipping again.
First, I will file a claim to EMS.

Weird because I buy all sorts of stuff from everywhere around this planet and Australian customs always keeps an extra eye on ALL of my goods coming in but never, was any item sent back to it's point of departure due to being "food".

Either you lucked out by coming across a Grade-A Moron, which is quite common here in Convict Town because let's face it have a look at who's leading us here.......  :p

When you have fools and idiots taking control of everything here, is it any wonder why this place remains a joke in the Southern Hemisphere.

No they're imbeciles who have spent too much of their spare time humping their own mothers and sisters, hence look at the end results  8) .

Just always expect failure and above all else, their normal inability to count with their own fingers or even hold or use a pen.  This is what Convict Town has become, a cesspit of inbred morons who think the world revolves around them, which is funny considering most of them actually still believe that the Earth is flat.

Just received my shipping notice from our illustrious maker here.

His latest creation is making it's way down under  :thumb: .  Also look's like it might get here before Xmas so one of my minions will be happy, she has been waiting for this keyboard and sure enough she will know what it's like to own a piece of Art that very few people would ever have.

As always LZ, thank you for making this keyboard for me and I know she will be amazed at your work because thus far she has only really typed on Logitech and Dell keyboards (her choice here).

It's always the young that usually miss out on owning something unique but not for her, she deserves this more than you lot would ever know.....

ARRIVED
The Mrs says it's a fairly large Cardboard Box that's from Korea and there's only one person I know that lives and works there  8) .

I told her to carefully unpack it so the minions don't know it's arrived.  It'll be a Xmas present for the youngest with newly installed GMK keyset applied.

As usual LZ you have out did yourself, can't wait to get back in town to see his latest creation but I am never caught short when he delivers a fully working keyboard, it simply is the World's Best designed and crafted example.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
You give up macro support and the key mapping UI and get access to dual action key's and some easier modification of the firmware.

I think your best options in the available soon schema of things are probably the Zephyr (https://zealpc.net/collections/group-buy-pre-orders/products/zephyr) or the Clueboard (https://clueboard.co/clueboard-66/)

I have the Clueboard and alternate it with the St as my daily drivers. I passed on the Zephyr because it is a winkeyless layout which is not for me but looks like a really nice board.

If this ever does re-run in some version jump on it though, I love my St.

I don't really care for in switch LEDs myself, so actually just installed a Clueboard PCB into my St :-)

As an FYI for anyone else that might be considering this:

1. The Clueboard PCB as shipped will not work with the spacer, as the CB PCB does not have clipped corners, you will either need to clip or file the corners on the PCB or file out the inside corner of the spacer to make room
2. If you don't use the spacer, there is not sufficient clearance in the case for the clueboard pcb reset switch

I just unsoldered the reset switch since under QMK you can map a key combo to reset, and worst case short the pins. Since the switch is not externally accessible in the ST case (unlike the CB case) this is not a big deal.

I have two St's and one has a Clueboard in. It has places for leds in some of the switches (arrows and a few others) and the underlighting is amazing, better than the Leeku PCB that comes with the St. But anyway, good luck in your search!

Hi, I'm about to setup my LZ with a clueboard, but I can't figure out the right way to set it up, so going through each layer top to bottom is:

- Cover
- Plate
- Plastic insert
- Switch
- PCB
- Base ?

I tried setting it up a few ways (without soldiering) but they all seem unstable.

Put your switches through the plate and into pcb. Solder. Screw into top piece. Sandwich the diffuser between all that and the base and screw it all together.

Got it, thanks. LZ didn't provide an Alps compatible plate, so it doesn't seem like the switches fit. Did you use a custom plate?

Ah no wonder you were having trouble! No I used a poly plate he provided which is MX compatible. AFAIK he didn't make an alps plate. Best bet is to mail him and see if he'll give you the file for the plate then mod it yourself or see if someone in the community can help you mod it/get it made.
