$10K IBM 5100 label piece
« on: Wed, 14 October 2015, 17:09:37 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291589520108

Belonged to some time traveler apparently:

Turns out that in the year 2036, there's still a demand for rare IBM equipment!

Who doesn't know who John Titor is?  Even 'other' "time travelers" will tell you he is unique (as far as time travellers go).
Quoting me causes a posting error that you need to ignore.

Ha ha ha... I wasn't familiar with this "John Titor" business. A professed time traveler, he claimed on national radio that conflict would break out in 2004 and engulf the U.S. in another civil war, one that wouldn't end till 2015. (Hey, that's this year!) Wikipedia's John Titor page has some equally funny details.

Yes, but in his World Line those were the events.

Him coming here and telling us about them has delayed it it our World Line. See multiverse/many worlds theories.

The fact that the IBM 5100 can reinterpret certain kinds of mainframes is apparently a big deal later. Or at least it was.

Well played, sir :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You don't understand.  Each time it doesn't sell, they go back in time and list it lower.  The $25K auction preceded the $10K one for them. Expect an auction for $50K when this one ends.

As "older" auctions don't show up on eBay in our frame of reference, you probably don't know that it actually sold for $3.50 on eBay back in 2003.  Plus shipping.
