What kind of homing keys are you using, scooped or nippled?  I would assume scooped, but the kit pictures don't actually specify (I only ask because /dev/tty had both, so there's a choice of homing molds in MT3).

Scooped. There are no nippled MT3 molds and the renders don't show nipples, so scoop is implied.

Fortunately MT3 only has the superior homing system: scooped keycaps.

Looking at the OP renders, it seems that the 1.75u stepped caps lock legend is still Caps↵Lock. Any chance of changing that to Caps like you said? I would prefer to have all one-line legends in this set.

Same goes for the 1.25u caps lock in the Forties kit.

I wasn't convinced by "Caps".

How is Caps less convincing than Lock for scroll lock?

Well okay, designer's preference is fine, but I don't think you should sacrifice a uniform look across the set by having just the smaller caps lock legends be two-line, while everything else is one-line.

I just took my MT3 /dev/tty round 2 set out of the box and double checked.  There are three F and three J keys.  One each regular, scooped, and nippled.  It's also shown in the base kit render that's still up on Massdrop:

https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-matt3o-devtty-custom-keycap-set

Thanks for confirming that they're scooped in MT3 Serika, but I'm confident that you're mistaken about the nonexistence of nippled MT3 molds, given that I've got a couple of nippled MT3 keys in hand.

Well that nonuniform look will only happen if you are planning to use the step caps lock keycap. Other than that I don’t see any problems with this “one single” caps lock keycap being on two lines.

The files that Drop sent me didn't come with nippled keycaps... And I didn't have any intention to use them, but good to know.

I'm a big fan of the generic text for the ergo kit but is there any chance of using a different letter than F for the ergodox left hand bottom row? It makes it look like those are function keys.

All in for:
Katakana
Alphas
Modifiers
Extras Mods
Novelties
Super Homing
Arrows
F-Row
Mac

Frightened at what the total cost is going to come out to w/ shipping & sales tax. But also excited.

Hi,

I don't know if it is too late, but I have a suggestion about the ortho kit based on this
https://drop.com/buy/drop-matt3o-mt3-dev-tty-keycap-set/talk/2432700?utm_source=linkshare&referer=F68W7U

Is it possible to user R5 flat to the bottom row? or at least have the space profile used in that 2U and 1U spaces? otherwise is very very uncomfortable to use.

Something like the MDA Ortho kit https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32934200359.html?spm=2114.12057483.0.0.153430f4ZCLg4D

I feel like R4 bottom row is best for outer mods where you use your pinky, ring, & middle fingers to press them. The inner mods, like the Alt key on an ANSI-layout keeb or the space/layer keys on an ortho board, are all better as R5 because folks tend to use their thumbs for these. Conclusion: Hybrid R4/R5 bottom rows are the best way to make everyone happy.

Unfortunately, no.

In a comment below someone is requesting 1C and 2C keycaps in the Ergo kit, but it seems that MT3 tooling does not exist.  Please consider adding a “C” to all convex keycap labels in the kit pictures (for example “6.25C”).  This might reduce misunderstanding.

MT3 Serika, not Serika MT3 [BRAND/PROFILE] then [NAME OF THE PRODUCT]. We don't say iPhone Apple or HD 6XX SENNHEISER.

Maybe you were just trolling, but it got me thinking...

It’s common and the accepted way to say GMK Serika, or SA Pulse... however ...
Given that this hobby and the marketplace around it has been evolving and maturing, what do designers like you consider the “product” ?

Are you bringing an MT3 set in the Serika colorway or the Serika colorway in the MT3 profile ?

If I were a designer, the fruit of my labor is the colorway and that’s the product being offered in potentially many configurations..
in this sense I would consider key cap profiles as “models” of a product (the colorway).sort of like saying
iPhone XR and iPhone SE.
Or

Zambumon’s Serika MT3 like
Apple iPhone XS

And just like the iPhone has accessories, so do colorways like the
Novelkeys  Serika deskmats like
Otterbox iPhone armour
Massdrop Laser Alt

Maybe colorways have grown up to precede the profile and go beyond just keysets ... Maybe I’m just drunk...

If you could follow up with Drop about whether 2U spacebars can be convex, that would be great. As an owner of MT3 /dev/tty, I use a cheap XDA 2U spacebar because with the height and scooping, it is physically painful to use MT3 2U keys as a spacebar.

No, and I would have to add an off-center `¬, R1 2"フフ, 3£アァ, as well as R3 '@ケロ, and off center #~ to fully cover the UK layout.

I did consider adding them, but there were a bunch of factors (mainly kit size) that made me think about it and this is why I ended up just including 2 extra keys.

One of my priorities for the ISO UK kit was to make it as small as possible (with the requirement of including the accent `¬, and accent enter key), and initially I thought about not even including Katakana support, which is something that has happened before with some GMK sets. Since I wanted to have a minimal impact, I opted just to include the two backslash keys, since they would provide with some basic ISO support.

Anyways, I'm open for discussion on this topic, and I'd like to know what you guys think about it. The current kit could be around the $12 or $15, and with the new additions it could be around $20 or $24, and while the price differencial might not seem so much, it could be a dealbreaker for some people.

MT3 SERIKA: FINAL KITS
Show Image

@Zambumon, been drooling over these renders for a while now but just spotted...
that the UK ISO kit doesn't have the R1 2 and 3 keys with the Katakana legends???

Personally I'd never use the katakana keys, but having them added wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me as an ISO UK user.
The kit being cheaper is nice, but I don't mind paying a little more to support others.

It is good to have the UK support.  I also don't mind paying a little more for the full set of UK keys but that said I am ok with either decision.

The Ergo kit looks great but I'm confused about why the bottom row legends are F1-F5 and M1-M5.  Are they not sequential (like X1-X10) just to differentiate between the two sides without using blanks?

Any possibility of including a control key to replace caps lock in the main modifiers kit?
All other mt3 kits have done it this way. The mod kit even includes hhkb backspace key and split right shift, but still lacking that caps lock replacement...

That key is on the extension kit alongside the 1.75U function key and the 1.5U system keys.

Yes, I didn't want to use the same letters for both left and right.
