I think that MKC's new Clear V3 case will be a big hit if it fits the Phantom... :D
Link to thread? I should mention I'm building (or having built for me) winkeyless which narrows everything to nothing. :(

What kind of winkeyless casing(material etc.)? I am interested in it! It would be nice if it can be simple like a filco casing =D

Okay guys what do you think about including the teensy controller into the GB?

I talked to Paul over at PJRC electronics and we can save $1.60 on the controllers if we buy at least 25, and $3.20 if we reach 100 orders. (Right now board orders are at 50 exactly)
This will also save people on shipping since individual controllers cost $3.70 to ship inside the US and a little under $7 for international. I'm not sure if there's any other options for the Phantom, so unless someone has an objection, I feel like this would be better to add since it will save everyone at least $5 off their final project.

Let me know what you guys think.

As stated before, the more included in the GB the better for me.  I don't even care about the $ savings, I'm more interested in the convenience.

So, if you're keeping track, +1 for including.

I say include the teensy because you can't build a phantom without one.

UPDATE

Okay, here's what were going to do about the teensy.

For people who have already submitted their order, I'm going to add the same number of controllers as the number of PCBs you put down. The controllers will be $18 for now, and I'll bump it down to $16 if we hit 100.
The low weight of these shouldn't add to shipping costs.
These will be the Teensy 2.0 controller with pin headers pre-soldered to them.

If you have a problem with this, or what a different amount of Teensys than number of PCBs you ordered PM me with changes and I'll make them.

Only problem with that being all the necessary pin locations are NOT populated with this option.  You will still need to obtain some pins for interior board locations.

Is it just the 2 extra pins on the insides? I'm trying to figure out by looking at the pcb pic

I see what you mean. There are 3 extra pins that have to be soldered from the controller to the board. I'll figure something out and include it

Actually I like TheProfosist's idea :) Those diode legs should be plenty long enough.

I like the thicker size of a real header pin, but as long as you know about it that's the important part.

bavman, if you wanted, you could order some number of extra pin headers, then cut off 3 and send with each Teensy.

Is the Teensy available as a separate line item? If so, I ordered 3 PCB, but I would like 4 Teensy, please.

If we get more GB's for the other parts required like (plates/cases/etc) to run in conjunction to this one I'd probably buy one to two more PCB's.  I know a lot of you on here have talked about doing such things.  Does anyone have any plans to get something like that up and running?  I know a lot of the more inexperienced people like myself would appreciate it.

BTW what are the options for different cases?  Are there many? Does anyone have pics?

Btw guys, if you don't like white or whatever LED colors will be chosen for this GB, just get your own. They're super cheap (only ~15cents), but they'll just have to be paired with the correct resistors. Those are also pretty cheap compared to the overall cost of a finished Phantom.

I take it the PCB will be able to fit in a Flico TKL case since it's using Filco style LED mounts?  Also whats the closed date? Thanks!

I'm likely going to get on this even though it will be my first soldering experience. The real question for me is the availability of other required components: cases, plates and keycaps for the round 1 special plates (7bit layout). If someone wants to help organize the rest (and if the orders for this round2 PCB aren't already indicating, less than a day in), I'd order more than 1.

I used to solder a lot when I was interning and got pretty good at it really fast.  Soldering truly is easy, however, you may want to use caution if this is your first experience ever.  Beginners tend to leave the iron on for too long and this can damage the board.  I would recommend that you get a scrap board and try adding and removing components before you try the real thing.  I was working on some delicate/tiny stuff, however, even the most robust boards can easily be damaged.  One last thing, flux is your friend.
