this is classy! I like it!
also, why not QMK?
Interesting double backspace keymap
Otherwise looking for it
Q:Why the name Nasu?
A:Nasu means eggplant. The reason behind it is that eggplants are cool, tasty and everything sounds better in Japanese.
How you gonna name it after eggplant, give us an eggplant-ish render, and not include the color in one of the stock options for the board?? Criminal  :))Seconded! Purple-on-the-verge-of-black would be really nice. Also, a plastic/flexy plate material would be appreciated.
The board looks great, don't be afraid of trying out new colors!
A dark purple would be awesome with the theme of this
Very interested, that purple looks great. Will there be an interest check form where we can leave our email?Yep there will be an form soon, mostly to vote on colors, materials etc.
As far as the colors go I'll leave the rest to the community. We're looking to do 3 extra colors so I'll post a google form so you can tell me which ones you want. How you gonna name it after eggplant, give us an eggplant-ish render, and not include the color in one of the stock options for the board?? Looking forward to more details about the gasket style.
Will it be manufactured by Salvun?
Are those soft grey/purple key caps a real set of were they just rendered to match the eggplant Nasu color? If real, please share the name. They are really nice.
btw is that chinese or japanese characters on the back?
Would 100% be in board for a seamless polycarbonate verison. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!Considering the interest we've seen so far for PC we'll probably add that as an option!
Will there be any vendor for NA/Asia?There will not. The board will only be sold through Keebwerk.

I'm in.Lmao true literally says eggplant
Edit: I'm not a fan of the Chinese characters on the weight. It seems kinda random. But I'm in either way.

The characters on the bottom are the name of the board haha but if people don't like the writing I might consider removing it and only sticking with the logo. Thank you for the feedback!
Please add a CF plate optionThat particular one will probably not be an option for the GB, however after the sale we'll probably release the plate files so you can cut any plate you want.
Please consider adding support for alternate layouts like a 2.25u left space with 1u Fn, full length right shift in addition to the split right shift, and split backspace.
If you could make the layout about as identical to the Wonderland PCB by Maartenwut, that would be ideal. As long as I can put stabilizers under both spacebars.
Please please please do polycarb. I'm dying to find a solid Alice clone in PC.
PC plate as well would be fantastic.
Any foam options for between plate and PCB and/or underneath PCB would be amazing additions.
Hope this does well and is super successful!
Please consider adding support for alternate layouts like a 2.25u left space with 1u Fn, full length right shift in addition to the split right shift, and split backspace. All the layout options you mentioned are actually supported! We will make sure to post a layout picture in the next days so you can see it. As far as polycarb goes it's still being considered, the results of the poll will help as well. It's not an easy material to work with at all and it will take quite a bit of work to come out nice but in the end if the demand is high enough we'll add it. It's much simpler to do it for plates though so it will probably be a plate option. As far as custom foam goes we are exploring that avenue since we also believe it would be a nice addition. And finally thank you for your support!

This looks nice. Don't know if I'm blind, but I would like to see more pics/renders of the side profile.Nope you're not blind, however more renders have been added today to showcase the side profile a bit more!
thanks so much for making this happen. I'm def in!!!Thank you for the feedback! Seems that other people think so as well so the text on will probably be removed for the sake of making it look cleaner.
If there is a chance you might wanna seek suggestion, I think the simpler the engraving on the weight will make it look better and cleaner :D
I'm assuming the red underglow on in the renders is only there to show off the curve - any consideration for underglow since PC is being considered?Actually it's not underglow, it's just a very vibrant red version of the bottom piece. But in general underglow won't be supported.
Would it be possible to convince Keebwerk to offer international shipping for an additional cost? There is no need for convincing haha, international shipping will be offered and at pretty good rates as well.

I will ask this again in case you missed my previous post. Would it be possible to have the tgr alice chin or are you committed to the more pointy, angular chin?Well this is an IC so nothing is really final but we feel like the chin looks nice how it is right now, however if people disagree and want a rounder chin maybe we can work on it.
Here is a better photoshop of the script design.
I really hope we can get a dark red case similar to this.
Let me know what you think! ;D

will the PCB be solder or Hot Swap?It will be solder only
Here is a better photoshop of the script design.Looks amazing! However we will probably keep the top simple (as in no engravings or logos). We might change the weight to text only though depending on feedback. As far as the dark red goes It will be decided this week. We will sort through the color IC answers and decide on colors based on that (although dark red looks to be one of the favorites so far).

Regarding the back weight I'd rather have just the logo, but that's just my opinion.

any updates? GB still planned with 1.5-2 months after IC release timeline? No updates us of now, next item of business will be to sort through the IC and finalize colors and material options. As far as the GB goes it's still planned for that timeframe, however it is not by any means a concrete date.

It's a pretty mediocre render but it's one of the first we did for the board :thumb:
So in!! Any updates yet? Thanks!Yes! The most recent update is that colors have been picked and we're now searching for pantones. Thank you for your support!
Qlavier acrylic Alice case has such a nice rounded shape on the front, would be cool something in this direction:

Because I love everything about the board. The slight angles are fine but the renders are inconsistent.
On some renders there are way sharper angles, which I don't like.

I'm afraid we'll probably be sticking with the more angular chin, we prefer the look of the board that way. Also the renders are all of the same board just some different angles, there haven't been any changes to the chin throughout the IC phase. Sorry for the confusion!

What is the timeline looking like? Can we expect the GB to start soon?Q:When will this happen?
Stupid question, how many stabs (+ sizes) would one need to stab all the possibilities?
5x 2u stabs
Does this mean the will be shipped from germany to customers? If so i'm in. Because this will save me alot of money on import fees and customs. Will there be any vendor for NA/Asia?There will not. The board will only be sold through Keebwerk.
updates to the GB or is it FCFS?In terms of the sale it will probably be pre-order style but that's yet to be determined. The pre-order style sale will allow us to hopefully have shorter wait times than a traditional GB style sale. More details will be unveiled soon!
That is the plan as of now! The keyboards will ship directly from keebwerk.Does this mean the will be shipped from germany to customers? If so i'm in. Great work on the renders and design! Was just wondering if you were planning on making a discord for updates? There are no plans for a discord as of now unfortunately, best place to stay up to date would be on this thread. Thank you for your kind words!
Not to be asking you for any commitment or something, but do you think this project will get to conclusion by end of 2020?Unfortunately that's not something within the realms of possibility. There's still quite a lot to be done before even the sale begins.

Thank you for replying so quickly. One last question, in addition to what is being offered as part of this GB; what other parts should one get to have a fully working keyboard? I am not an expert and mostly want to get this as a gift.

Any Updates on the GB?The prototype should arrive sometime in the next 2 weeks. After that we'll build it, test it and get pictures and sound tests.
Any discord for this project?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Love this. Any discord group? Any timeline? Thanks!Unfortunately there is no discord as of now, but perhaps we'll make one in the future! As far as the timeline goes the prototype should arrive sometime in the next 2 weeks and if all is good it's only a matter of finalizing the colors and setting up the sale.

Do you mean no GB this year or no shipment of final boards to buyers this year?
Is the PCB hot swap? No, the pcb is solder only
Did the proto arrive yet? ☺️It did! We're still waiting on the pcbs though. In any case we'll be assembling it and getting some pictures in the coming weeks!
Definitely in if it actually ends up shipping from Germany, huge cost saving :)It will be shipped from Germany indeed!
other Plate materials than alu and brass would be nice as it is known that pom/FR4 sounds and feels better with some switchesWe will be offering polycarbonate as well, we can also look into POM and FR4 though.
is this an unlimited gb? please let it be unlimited :(Unfortunately It won't be unlimited, we don't want to bite off more than we can chew.
number of units still tbd? would be awesome if unlimited is possible :)We're thinking of offering around 150-200 units, while not unlimited we think that's still a good number of boards and would help us keep things manageable to ensure the best quality possible.
Really nice looking board. Excited to see that proto. Hopefully, I will get to pick this one up!Thank you for your kind words! Prototype pics will be shared in the coming weeks :)
Will we be given the choice to pick the color of the bottom part of the case? I see white/red in the renders and I'm wondering if we could mix and match to get something like white/navy.Yes the colors are all customizable, you will be able to get whatever color combination you want!
+1 for split backspace, this is really importantSplit backspace is offered :thumb:

Will there be a Hotswap version of the PCB for this board? Would be awesome!
Will it fit the "ALICE PCB REV2 - USB-C" pcb?
:-\
Any Prototype Updates?Yes, as of now we're dealing with some issues with the pcb manufacturing which will unfortunately delay the arrival of the prototypes. As far as the case prototype goes
Will it fit the "ALICE PCB REV2 - USB-C" pcb?As another user mentioned it will not fit standard Alice pcbs. The pcb will be a custom one with a usb c daughterboard.

Dang,.. when i saw this a few months ago I was super excited.. But was it silently downgraded from 6063 aluminum to 6061? I really wanted my endgame board to be 6063 for psychological reasons :-[

second that, why not 6063? Don't get me wrong, I rather spend few dollars more, but have high end quality.

Curious to see why they went down to 6061 as well
I'd be really interested to understand why people seem to think that aluminium 6063 should be a "better" material for a keyboard than 6061. Could you help me understand the criteria which you're applying here to measure "better"?
In my world, there are a few good reasons to choose 6063 over 6061, but having a CNC machined piece of aluminium built for use indoors isn't one of them.

Is being 6063 (instead of 6061) the actual property that makes this Alice-like design among other CNC Alice-like design a "premium" one?

Again, which of these properties do you care about for your keyboard? Corrosion is important when it’s for outdoors. Extrudability doesn’t really matter here. So what is it that makes you care about 6063?

dude, I didn't say that 6061 alu wouldn't be a nice keyboard. but it's just a fact, that the surface and the anodize is better / higher quality. just compare a 6061 and 6063 by yourself at a keeb community meeting.
It's cool that HephaestusWorks will check out 6063 and look out for the difference, then we will see what he thinks about it.
The first prototype has arrived! There are a couple of issues which have been resolved. Mainly the gasket system is being redone since the gaskets at the moment are a little bit too small thus not resulting in the best gasket keyboard experience. In addition to that some more space has been added below the pcb to ensure that the keyboard has ample room to flex and work well even with softer plate materials like polycarbonate or POM.
Here are some prototype pictures for you to enjoy, we will be taking better pictures of many different angles sometime in the next days!
Very interested.Thank you very much!
This is sexy.Appreciate the kind words! There will be a navy blue available, we will be releasing the pantones by the end of the week!
No blue colors?
annoying request: possible to have an option for no engraving on the weight?Unfortunately that will not be an option during the group buy however we may consider taking custom requests afterwards.
Stunning. Love the work going into this.Thank you very much for your support! As things currently stand we're probably not going to be able to start the sale within the year, however it will be very early next year. As far as the sale is concerned we are still figuring out how it will be but we'll consider all options!
Do you think this will make it to GB this year?
Also, please do a raffle, not FCFS!
Looks great! Would love to see a bit more of the side profile on the proto :DThank you! We have posted some new pictures that showcase the sides a bit better as well, feel free to check those out.
Is there an estimated lead time yet for when the gb ends? The GB will be open for about a month or until the maximum number of units is reached.
Looking forward to more future GB! Is there an estimate for which month it will occur? We are aiming for the sale to start before the end of Q1
Is there a default top and bottom casing or will be have the choice of choosing each of the color. You will be able to choose different colors for all the parts if you want to!
If it is preset, can you tell us what they are please?
Thank you,
any chance of an AU proxy? No such plans currently. Keebwerk will be handling everything!
Been following since the initial post, glad to see this is still in progress. Any updates to the timeline?Yes, we are aiming to start the sale by the end of Q1
I'm so into this! Any updates?Final prototype is done, waiting on it. We will build it, record sound tests and then set up the sale. The pcb's are also done and confirmed functional!

Awesome work on the keyboard an Im excited to hear that the GB will happen soon :D. Have you decided how many units will be available? you say the GB will be open for a month or until the limit is hit, so does this mean there is a High soft cap on how many keebs there will be, and that the keyboard wont be sold out in the first 10 seconds? :D
You think we're can change the bottom weight and rubber feet to be something like this? It would look as beautiful on the bottom as it does on the top.
Right now i think the current weight, weight logo and rubber feet let the beautiful aesthetic of the board down.
Sorry for the lack of updates everyone, it's been a busy time. So currently we received the final prototype. We will be building it this week and recording sound tests! Thank you everyone for supporting this project thus far!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let everyone know that the project is in fact not dead. We know this has been going very slowly but we ask for your understanding.
Life happens and sometimes it's not the easiest to focus on a project in conjunction with everything else. That said the prototype is getting built this week and the details finalized by the end of the week.
We're currently aiming for an early to mid June release as everything other than the sound tests are ready. Once again we're very sorry for the lack of updates but we're asking that you bear with us for the few weeks left until the GB.

Don’t want to be a Debbie downer but the lack of responsiveness during this IC phase is telling for how the fulfillment phase might go.
Best of luck.

Well, not really. For a couple of different reasons. The manufacturing and fullfilment phase will be handled by keebwerk for one. Additionally we took our time with the IC precisely so there is no impact in the timeframe of the actual GB. Now when the GB is up there will also be a discord server for more frequent updates and more immediate communication.
Hello everyone! The prototype has finally been built! The current build is using a POM plate and H1's (there are some other random swithces sprinkled in some mod keys because we run out of H1's)
Here is a first picture, we are currently gathering the gear to record a more professional sound test which will be posted in this comment as soon as it's ready.Show Image(https://i.postimg.cc/05bVctXB/IMG-20210527-184714.jpg)
Looks really good!
Is that the only layout? ISO would be very nice...
wake uppp!!5 more minutes mom! Jokes aside, we're still trying to record a sound test. Gears all arrived, but making a video to go along with the sound test has been proven tricky. In any case we'll post some of the raw sounds for now and try to record a video in the meantime.

dont get anything wrong, cuz i want this beautiful board so bad. so i'm tired of waitingThe wait is almost over, the sale itself has been finalized for 25-30 of June. In the meantime we're having a bit of a hard time recording a sound test that reflects reality and we'd really like to post something that's at least close to the real thing.
Have you guys thought about sending to streamers for streaming? Nowadays for GB, I'd like to see how the board is structured and built, rather than single typing sound video.

Possible to desolder the one you have and send to streamers to save time and also give people some ideas of it?Have you guys thought about sending to streamers for streaming? Nowadays for GB, I'd like to see how the board is structured and built, rather than single typing sound video.

There's currently no plans to send protos to streamers at least before the actual sale. Making new protos to send out will take a lot of time and might delay the sale for months. But we might send out some units as the GB progresses.

GB method will be a pre-order (FCFS style), 250 units and 350€ excluding shipping but including VAT. Price is subject to fluctuate a tiny bit due to some added material costs (the price of raw material has increased by about 20%), we're waiting on the final factory quotes but the price won't increase by more than 15€ if it increases at all.now that's what i'm waiting for sooo long!dont get anything wrong, cuz i want this beautiful board so bad. so i'm tired of waitingThe wait is almost over, the sale itself has been finalized for 25-30 of June. Not in this run, there will be however plate files published so you can cut whatever you want.GB method will be a pre-order (FCFS style), 250 units and 350€ excluding shipping but including VAT. my body is sooo ready !
last question: will there be other plate material, like fr4 or CF offerred?

Been keeping up with this project for while now and im fairly exicted for this to finally happen. But i still have some questions.
Are there any plans for a prototype build video/stream from maybe yourself or a content creator?
Also how is the the bottom part going to turn out? Will it be color matched to the top portion or can you choose what bottom color you want?

As far as the bottom piece goes you will be able to pick any color you want. If you want a matching top and bottom you'll be able to do that no issue, as well as combine different colors.
Is the sound test or showcase/build video going to happend before the actual group buy phase?
Feels kinda wierd purchasing this board without knowing beforehand.

Well but that means there wont be a video about this keyboard from a streamer or content creator no?
HephaestusWorks stated that they will record a sound test and possibly a showcase/build video since they have a proto. So my question, if that is happening before the sale, is directed at them.
will there be a matching wrist rest available? i want a wood or marble one! There will be one designed after GB is completed.
Hello everyone, first simple sound test is finally recorded. Excuse the tons of feedback, we couldn't figure out how to remove that without disturbing the recording and altering the sounds. That said to answer some of the questions above, we're waiting on a tripod to start recording the videos as well. The video will be a 2/1, the first part will be a showcase of the insides and assembly video and the other will be another sound test of the assembled board. And yes they will both come before the actual sale of the board.

That's still TBA, the date currently is set for June 30th but that might be pushed back by a week or so depending on how the website progresses and of course depending on if the the tests are recorded by then. Like we mentioned we want to get everything out before we start the sale. Very sorry for the constant delays but it's a very busy time for everyone working on this project.Hello everyone, first simple sound test is finally recorded. Since today is the 30th and we still haven't seen sound tests I'd say its safe to assume it's going to be a bit more time like they mentioned above.
The is no gb link at the moment, but it'll be somewhere on keebwerk when it does go live.
Unfortunately not, we run into some issues with setting up the web page and configurator. The new (and final) sale date is July 10th. I cannot find where the GB will be held at. Can someone drop a link for my dumb ass, please?

Alright alright, it's here everyone! The preview video can be found here (https://youtu.be/-SeWPNWmdMk)
Now for some updates. For starters regarding the colors the deep grey will most likely be removed for simplicities sake, at least for this round.
Here are some samples of the red and blue:Show Image(https://i.postimg.cc/gk9Sn4B6/41-D13-A99-12-D4-485-F-B055-66-A8-EC00-A644.jpg)
And here are some samples of the brass:Show Image(https://i.postimg.cc/j2TfrWZC/1ca7bc97-bec7-47e9-b365-368606bc26ef.jpg)
Finally regarding the sale, the time will be announced soon. Thank you everyone for your patience with this project! It's almost time!!!
Looks like a cool board that I'd like to buy, but I'm concerned with how little info there is so close to the GB.Most of these questions have been answered in comments in the thread but we'll edit them into the post as well. The layout is the standard alice layout:
What are the layouts for this board? Is it only the one showed in pictures? No stepped caps?
Any form of ETA for shipping? How many units?
I am also looking for this keyboard: alice style + sold in EU + Gasket mount + decent price should a very good combination.Time is being scheduled, right now and will not be revealed til the actual day of the GB. Like we mentioned on the other comment, everything you are requesting has been discussed above.
However, I am also very concerned with this project and GB, 1 day from the group by and no info is available (units, time, what extras are available - wrist rest, plates, pcb, etc.).
Hence it is understandable the team is working really hard, and building a keyboard is not an easy task. However, some additional respect (therefore transparency) for the people interested would be appreciated.
Hope more info gets available.
so will you reveal the exact time now? we are getting closer to GB dayTime will be revealed tomorrow, but obviously long before the actual GB time.
We don't have anodization samples just yet but we are matching it to PANTONE 20-0120 TPM Rose OnyxAlright alright, it's here everyone! The preview video can be found here (https://youtu.be/-SeWPNWmdMk)

Is the deep purple color still running? Are there samples of that color?
Can you provide us with all the available options and their corresponding price before the start of the actual GB?Yep, we'll post everything on the main post by tonight.
This makes it much easier to make a decision without stressing out once the GB itself has started.
Why are you withholding the sale time 24hrs in advance? How are people from different time zones supposed to plan for that?Ah sorry about that, Nasu only has 3 macros but everything else is the same. Standard alice layout.
Also your layout shows 4 macros while the proto only has 3
I assume e-white is still an option?Yes it is
I'm a little confused. When you say "main post" are you referring to the first page of this geekhack thread? Or a new GB thread? Thank you for the clarification.By main post we mean the top post of the IC page (the one with all the info, renders, etc etc). So yes like you mentioned the the first post on the first page of the thread.
I'm confused... It is the 10th in Europe and we still don't have times? The sale info has just been posted, please check out the top of the IC page.
So, basically this means 20 GMT, right?Yes
does the alu kit has the leaf spring or non leaf spring alu plate? It has the leaf spring plate. The only plate that doesn't have the leaf spring is the POM. We felt that the flex provided by the leaf spring really complimented the metal plates. If you want a non real spring alu plate there will be files available after the GB so you can cut your own.
Really excited for this. Any estimates on GB fulfilment times?
Has the date of the GB been released yet? Either I'm blind or I don't see it in the update. We moved it to the top of the post so it's easier to spot. Pretty hard to miss really. It's on the main post, on the first page.

again, ne discord avail? Not yet, there will be one made though. Or a nasu channel merged into an already existing server.
He / she is right though. Sale info only seems to be listing the time but not the date. Maybe you want to add it for clarity's sake?Has the date of the GB been released yet? Anyways, i'll be there - the 10th, boys & girls ;)
It's Oct 7th for the GB time? Better to have a countdown (like https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/create) to reduce confusion on the timezone stuff. No the sale is today. The date is formated like dd/mm/yy.. But yes we'll make one of those countdowns and attach it to the post. Thank you for the suggestion!
Sorry for coming off like an ass hat here. Something's off with your timer?
Info states 20.00 hours GMT.
Current GMT time is 09.07 hours, your countdown shows 09hours 53min to go. Doesn't quite add up or am i wrong?
I'm missing an hour either in the countdown or the sale info provided. Or am i completely off track?
youch, excited as well. Which color, which color.... :rolleyes:Sorry for coming off like an ass hat here. Something's off with your timer?

It could be the +1 hour for summer daylight on the GMT. I can't wait to try and get one of these. Very excited.
Sorry for coming off like an ass hat here. Something's off with your timer? The info states GMT+1, so basically UK time. Right now it's 10;56pm UK time (GMT+1). The GB is at 20:00pm UK time, so in 9 hours.

which aluminium alloy do you use for plate? 5052 or 6061?6061-T6, our factory can't supply 5052 at the moment.

The wrists rests will be available after the GB along with extra plates, or all those options will be available on the GB?Wristrests will come after the GB, extra plates will be offered today though.
Any idea how much time we have to pay if we choose the PayPal option?I'm afraid the payment will have to happen right away since it's FCFS. However there are 250 units available so there might still be some left by Monday.
I'm getting paid on Monday and I'm afraid I won't make it in time :/
Hope everything gets sorted out.Yes, the pcb is solder only. And we will be cutting some custom pieces of EVA foam, but only for the case. So no foam in between the plate and pcb.
Look forward for the GB tomorrow.
Based on the comments, no hotswap version will be available. Is this correct?
Lastly, will any foam, or other included on the packaging (case and pcb-plate foam)?
Thank you, and once more looking forward for tomorrow's GB.
Thank you so much for the reply.Good question. think the millmax sockets are 100pct the best result if you get them right. Way better longevity and tighter hold than kailh hot swap.
Hence, millmax should be possible?
Yes, it would be good to get some official confirmation, since not all PCB allow millmax. We haven't tested mil max, nor are we planning to. The pcb is solder only, you can try using the sockets but at your own risk.
Could you drop one in would at least give us an indication if it's a definite no?Yes, it would be good to get some official confirmation, since not all PCB allow millmax. We haven't tested mil max, nor are we planning to. The pcb is solder only, you can try using the sockets but at your own risk.

Hello! Quick question, I see in the pictures of the black keyboard, the bottom plate is silver instead of black. The color of the prototype pictured is black top and silver bottom. You'll be able to choose what color you want for each of those pieces. So if you want an E-white top and bottom you can do that, or if you want an e-white top and a black bottom for example.
Is it going to be like that in the final version? If I buy it E-White or Black, is it going to have a silver color under the keyboard? Or it will be the same color as the rest of it?
Thanks!

Can I buy two boards in two different orders? No you cannot. Only 1 board per person. And yes the LED's will be fully programmable with QMK.
Is led indicator customizable? Want to change it layer 1/2/3 instead of caps, scroll and num lock.

Did you guys receive an order confirmation email after finalizing your orders?I did
wow now i have time to look back at description. i've just found out that nasu uses 3mm thick plate, but IC doesnt mention that.It does not, the plate is a standard 1.5mm. We'll let keebwerk know so they can fix that error. Very sorry for the confusion.
tbh that's not a dealbreaker for me. i always want to try a thick plate with tactile.
but frankly, you guys should take this as a good lesson for future products. this GB isnt a good experience for everyone.
anyways, GLwGB. and i'm looking forward to a discord server, for frequent updates.
My brother lives with me and he wants one as well. Can he order one using his account but the shipping address would be the same as mine?Yes he can order no problem, it's a different person.
I ordered ok but I have not so far received an order confirmation. If it's not in your spam, wait a bit. If it doesn't show up please contact keebwerk support for confirmation.
Why is Keebwerk charging 19% VAT for non-EU orders? That's a shocker, should have checked that
Why is Keebwerk charging 19% VAT for non-EU orders?Because regardless of where' it's going it's shipped from Europe. So keebwerk pays VAT for it and therefore charges rhe customer.

I assume the packaging will be a regular box and not a hardshell carrying case? That is correct, but we could look into developing a custom case to offer in the future if that's something people are interested in.

Cool, godspeedWell we'll let the sale run until he hit MOQ, or at least get relatively close to it.What if MOQ isn't met?How many units left? Is there any form of MoQ?We currently have about half the spots remaining. MOQ is currently at 250.

Very sorry, the 250 was a typo. However ideally we'd like to approach as much as possible to the 250 figure before ending the saleHow many units left? Is there any form of MoQ?We currently have about half the spots remaining. MOQ is currently at 250.

Is the MOQ changed from the previously stated 150?
Please create a GB thread and post upgrade in there as well.
I believe that some of us doesn't want to join a discord server just to check the updates.
Thank in advance for taking this into consideration.
But this means the buyer will still have to solder the switches on?
Hi HephaestusWorks,Spoke to keebwerk about this, they accidentally transferred the text from the mega web page, which is hot swap. The Nasu will not come assembled and you'll have to solder it yourself.
Silly question. But this means the buyer will still have to solder the switches on?
“ Please be aware of:
this is a barebone keyboard – We assemble your board ready for you to place your switches and caps”
Not that your team will assemble and solder the switches on for the buyer right?
Thanks in advance!

Quick question, will other alice style boards fit on this keyboard? No they will not

Thanks for sharing. Thought of just asking to clarify my doubts. I’m looking for hotswap options as I’m an idiot with soldering at the moment. The purple nasu looks really nice though…..
Are there any pictures of the gaskets that you are using for the leaf spring? Are they mounted like on the left or on the right?Close to the right, we'll get some CAD pics soonShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/EGtBSqY.png)
Well, it was a conscious design decision not to include hot swap. We feel that hotswapable boards feel well, kinda horrible. I will try the millmax, the same PCB creator has made other boards on the past and, they supported that.
Unfortunately I don't have many switches in stock, and I want to try different plates as well. Therefore, for this type of experimentation it is always good a hotswap board, so lets see how it goes.
Nevertheless, I feel that keebwerk is missing an opportunity by not having a hotswap version. Thus, attending the price advantage, I don't see many people buying plates and PCBs just for the sake of experimentation.
Nevertheless, looking for the board in 5-6 months ;D
Well, it was a conscious design decision not to include hot swap. We feel that hotswapable boards feel, a little bad if not done properly. There's nothing wrong with them obviously, just a personal decision not to include them as we felt that's not representative of the board and experience we wanted to deliver. Because the switches can move in the sockets. The soldered board is one rigid unit. While the hot swap is either, not connected to the pcb at all, allowing for play. Additionally if you remove all the switches the plate falls off. The other way to do hotswap is with standoffs that screw into the plate and keep rhe plate and pcb together. Which is bad because it creates hard spots around the places of the screws, a little counterintuitive on a gasket board that's supposed to create a comfortable feel.Well, it was a conscious design decision not to include hot swap. How do hotswap sockets make a board feel different at all?
I did my order yesterday, but now I was thinking to add an extra pcb, and maybe even an extra plate.
Is that possible to do? Thank you!

Sarcastic tone aside, from our experiment 5 pins also suffer from the same issue. Also falling off is a little relevant since one of the supposed nifty little features of hotswap is the ability to ya know, hot swap switches without opening the board. We personally haven't yet come across a board that you can desolder without opening. Now thank you for your snarky comment but I don't feel like we have to elaborate further.QuoteBecause the switches can move in the sockets. The soldered board is one rigid unit. This might be kind of true for 3 pin switches, but not for 5 pin, which are the clear standard in the community. If the plate is well made it will not be a problem.
And I don't see how the plate falling off is relevant? If you desolder all the switches and take them off, the plate will also fall off... And there's a neat little trick to make the plate not fall off which everyone uses, which is to not remove all the switches at the same time...

Hotswap has a worse sound signature
Oh we understand alright. On the last comment we were just highlighting your non sensical comparison to the pcb falling off after being desoldered. Also, different switches have different tolerances, it's not all about the plate and pcb design, although it does play the biggest role.Sarcastic tone aside, from our experiment 5 pins also suffer from the same issue. Ah yes, I love when I am taking a single switch out from my hotswap pcb and the whole pcb falls off and then the whole keyboard falls apart, damn you hotswap pcbs
THE PCB WILL FALL OFF IF YOU TAKE OUT ALL THE SWITCHES AT THE SAME TIME.
How are you not understanding this?
Also, if your 5 pin swiches wobble in hotswap sockets, you either have a swich housing problem or a plate problem (cheese grate plate or bad tolerances).
Where's my popcorn, this is getting spicy! No, not really haha. It's just a very pointless debate that happened for..... some unknown reason. Considering that Nasu doesn't even have hot swap. We didn't think that being honest about why we didn't include an option was a crime, but at this rate we'll probably have to hire at attorney to give vague answers and leave everyone equally unsatisfied.

Just ordered. Btw, any particular reason you go with silicon gaskets instead of poron gaskets?Yes, our vendor keebwerk actually recommended silicone, and after testing both materials on the first prototypes we felt that the silicone provided an overall more unique and comfortable typing experience and acoustic profile.

Do you have a source on this?
Will the anno have a smooth/glazed finish or a matte, fingerprint color-bend finish? It's hard to tell from the photos, but the purple looks nice and smooth. The ano will be matte and very smooth to the touch, the grain is pretty fine. We'll get some close-up shots of the anodized proto for you to inspect.

mainly personal experience, but i have heard the same comments from most enthusiasts. there are of course (as about everything) also videos of it.

Any news on opening up to more than one pp if not yet fully subscribed?Yes, we most likely will. We are currently figuring out the logistics of that, shipping will obviously have to be paid again since the volume and mass essentially doubles.. But anyone who wanted it had their chance, so we don't see why we should keep the limitation. That said we're giving buyers some more time, probably untill Friday or Saturday. But we'll let you know for sure by Friday.

We will, there are people who don't want to join a discord server just for updates. Usually, the GB thread gonna be live during the GB, I guess the GB thread gonna be created after the GB ended? Btw, how many units have sold so far?Well it's gonna be made in the next few days, but other than manufacturing updates a GB thread isn't really needed currently. So there isn't any rush.
Has an image w/ the layouts supported by the PCB been made available somewhere?
