It just depends - the human ear can't discern sound larger than the available 48 KHz available on CD. Its just happens that nearly all CDs are mastered poorly, and clip the range that CAN be heard by us humans. That's why a 24 bit 96 KHz FLAC sounds better than most CDs. The range isn't clipped.
A properly mastered CD sounds fantastic.
Having said that, I prefer warm analog to digital, but its generally close enough if done properly. Give me tube amps over solid state any day. But a properly mastered digital source sounds great through a digital system as well.
