Re: PEXON PCs - Bespoke, handmade cables
« Reply #412 on: Thu, 05 June 2014, 05:19:26 »
Last year, I was asked here on GeekHack as well as Facebook if I could do illuminated LED cables. I made some mock ups before Christmas last year, but I was not 100% happy with them; I don't like to release things that I would not be happy in receiving myself. I trawelled through my massive old threads in the classifieds before I had a sub-forum (30 pages of content to look through  :o ), it was well over 1 year ago, so sorry for taking so long. I was asked in Feb 2013  :o

I am happy to say, after much deliberation, experimentation, ups and downs, I can happily say I am in a position that I can release the LED cables, safe in the knowledge the quality and finish of the cable is up to my standard.

I will release more info on them later today, price will be competitive against my standard USB Cables and a 3ft LED cable will be 15GBP.

Sleeving options will mainly be matte and clear materials to allow the illumination sufficient bleedthrough (read, you can have paracord on these badboys).

For now, here is a potato pic of a prototype I made a while back.

Here is another update guys, not as big this time, but some pretty cool stuff methinks!

First off, 3x USB to Mini USB.

-1x Patriot paracord
-1x Multi-Cam paracord
-1x Desert Cam paracord

Coils are on these cables on the USB A end to act as a strain relief so they cannot be pulled out of their respective devices. I really enjoyed making these cables

My three cables look really, really awesome. Thank you! I absolutely love all the MDPC colors. Wish you had ~6ft of leftover toxic green, its sooo vibrant!

Since I ordered before you rehauled the order system, is the green Filco mod kit made for full size boards? I have an MJ2.

The filco mod kit works with both the full size and TKL boards. They're the same type of cable, just different form factors.

That is true, however, some people did not like the additional cable, even though you can tuck inside the case, people had the excess handing out. I've added the option for a shorter length for TKL MJ2s

The first package (1/3 kek) just arrived from Pexon, my new Matte Purple USB cable.

It looks great and it's the perfect length.

Damn Pexon I see two PS2 cables (which I think are mine), and they're brilliant looking.

I've got an older GON keyboard that will love these, plus having 2 means I don't have to worry losing one over the next few years.  Always buy 2 because I have experience in losing many things over the years and it pisses you off you can't use the device without buying another item to make it work again.

Thank you bud  8) .
