if anything, it looks like a Bloody V3 without the three buttons in front of the scroll wheel.

The big question is: Is Ducky going to continue to use painted keycaps - or are they going to finally upgrade to doubleshot?

If not, what are they waiting for?

Was thnking about buying th Dukcy Shine 4, which retails for about $200 AUD. The Corsair K70 RGB is $250 AUD. Wonder how much it would cost when its released?

Ducky One - Transparent Body
Show Image

From the positioning of the legends in the keycaps, it looks like that it would be backlit. I hope that they would use PBT + POM doubleshot. The capslock LED seems to be positioned outside of the switch, unlike previous models of Ducky keyboards.

This acrylic body looks new to be implemented in mainstream mass produced mechanical keyboards, and it can be easily scratched unless they'll coat it with something that'll act as a protector.

Ducky Shine 5 - RGB
Show Image

Looks like it will still have the same housing as the Shine 4 and 108 keys. The MX switches will be available in Black, Red, Brown, and Blue according to the image.

Ducky would still probably stick to pre-programmed lighting effects, so I don’t expect its RGB lighting to be fully programmable like Corsair.

Unfortunately, they don't have any plan for make TKL version at the meantime
All of their new products still focused on Full Sized models

Yes, Ducky make the simple way to doing RGB on shine 5, not like advanced control by software in Corsair
both have advantages and disadvantages ;)

I really hope the ONE is not backlit. It looks sick as is, and I have been craving a Zero for a long time now.

And, can someone explain to me why everything is going to RGB these days? Backlighting is cool and all, but are we that fickle and bored with our boards to change colors constantly? (*changes keycaps for the 10th time this month*) Still, changing LED color is much faster than keycap swap, duly noted.

Can we expect that it might be a backlit keyboard case like we usually see on Korean customs?

I think "Secret" is the name of the mouse.

It looks like they're going to announce their Ducky Year of the Ram keyboard too, and some new mouse mats(maybe).

I think manufacturers love it--it is possibly much cheaper. Print solder on the board, pick-and-place the SMD, and reflow. Much easier than poking though hole components into multiple layers, soldering, and trimming.

Nice transparent cases, but no yellow? :(
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Goddammit they went with the light spillage onto the plate instead of keeping the light contained to the legends only. I can't stand spillage like that--it distracts from the legends themselves.

They don't have a choice... The Cherry RGB switches have clear cases with SMT LEDs on the PCB, so they have no way of preventing the light spillage short of using some sort of light shields, but there's not enough space to implement that.

This is one reason I'm staying away from the whole RGB thing. Another is I just don't need a disco on my board.

Actually, I have no real interest in most commercial boards nowadays. If I can't open the switches (or buy it in parts so I can mod the switches before building it) and it's not programmable, I don't want it.

RGB is useful for gaming, such as mapping colors to correspond to spell, weapon, equipment, etc., and also for when playing horror/atmospheric games when you want to turn off all the lights, but still want to see the keys when needing to access something that's not within your immediate muscle memory.

There's supposed to be a Chinese ripoff of the Logitech Romer-G RGB switch that doesn't have light spill. I'm hoping we'll start to see keyboards using that switch soon.

You could just wrap the top of the switch with electrical tape. Would look jerry rigged though. RGB doesn't bother me, but the bezels of the case bother me.

You can't assume other people's needs, experience, and preference is the same as you though. For example, when first starting to play a new game and learning its mechanics--especially a game with a ton of commands, weapon types, spells, potions, health, map, inventory, movement, vehicle control, view control, etc.--it takes a while to commit all of them to muscle memory. And if you're playing the game in total darkness or very dark room (which is more fun for certain types of games such as horror), having backlit keys in different assigned colors to correspond to different hotkeys is really helpful. Also, there are plenty of people in the world who don't touch-type, so it's even more helpful for them.

Bleh, it's too bad I swore off back lit keyboards. I've got a Ducky Shine 3 now and I'm just so done with the obnoxious glow, I have it turned off. I liked it when I first purchased it in 2013 but my tastes have changed since then. I'm now trying to move away from the obnoxious LEDs.

Fullsize? eeewwwww no thanks

Yes, bring on the TKL's!  :p

I am certainly heading that direction...still, the KBParadise Matias Quiet Click V60 is pretty sweet for being a non-remap 'board.

In case you're not on Facebook or following Ducky, they've been posting a ton about their new stuff there. Here's a link to their public page. For example, they've got some new RGB lightning PCB stuff as well as some videos on the Shine 5.

I really like the Reactive Mode, it looks pretty cool when typing on. But all the other modes are just show off and not practical. I can't imagine anyone typing with Wave mode or Ripple Mode on.

Also, the frame of Shine 5 is identical to Shine 4, which is a disappointment. I thought the design of Shine 4 is because it's year of Horse. I guess probably Goat is similar to Horse?   ;)

Anyway, looking forward to the RGB switch keyboard from Ducky.
All those keyboards will be lost in time....

Anyone know the dimensions of the shine 3? I kind of want to compare it to the shine 4 to see whether or not I'd need to adjust myself for the board.
I found the dimensions for the shine4(460x154x34mm) but not the shine 3. Or a side by comparison.
