Excellent set.

+1 for glossy

There is a typo in the Spacebar kit, are we getting (2) 1u keys or (1) 1u & (1) 1.25u?

Is base color the same with KAM Wraith?

If yes then we can mix & match. The novelties look great!

Looks like another winner!

I thought I would join some others in requesting a small homing kit for the alt layout crowd:

Also, adding non-homing X, V, and J would serve the same purpose as the additional B in the Spacebars kit.
More
X  -  for Dvorak
V  -  for Colemak DH, Colemak DHm, and Workman
J  -  for QGMLWY

B remains in the QWERTY location for Colemak, Norman, and QWPR.

Edit: saw others have already requested a homing kit.

This trend worries me.

The argument for second B is for typists on Alice layouts who type "incorrect" and also don't know how to customize their layout.

I'd say anyone who would switch to an alternative layouts would also take the time to type each key with the correct finger, or at least choose one side. Additionally, since the default layout is usually QWERTY, they probably also know how to put the key in that position key in whichever place they want it.

The beauty of this kit is that there's so many novelties and macro keys that you could literally put any on the spot which you are not using to type B.

I will absolutely concede this point to anyone who uses an optimized typing layout and still would like to have this key for both index fingers. For the time being, I'd say the whole extra B key is a bad trend and we shouldn't compound it.

+1. I don't own an Alice, so chafes me that I have a gazillion extra B keys sitting around while also being told "you use a weird layout (Colemak), which I'm not supporting" by many designers. I don't want to see even more useless keys added to cater to the Alice crowd (Sorry not sorry).

I don't have TAB or ESC in R3, so I use a novelty for R3; Alice users that use non QWERTY layouts can use a novelty for their not-a-B key.

In sculpted sets it's one additional B for alice and a whole load of additional keys for colemak though

With non sculpted it's pretty easy though

No, it's the same amount of additional keys for extra B/not-B. Sculpted or uniform makes no difference.

This set and the typeface you’ve custom designed for it are just beautiful. I can see me wanting to get almost all the various sets. Bravo!

I don’t know if it’s too late to incorporate into this release, but I’d love to see the range of gaming icons expanded upon, perhaps with additional thematic sets in future? I’m thinking a variety of different symbols representing different types of weapon (shield, axe, bow and arrow, dagger etc.) as well as different ‘sci-fi’ weapons, to make it possible to tailor a keyset to specific games.

Anyway, can’t wait to see this one released!

Really cool set here with all of the different icons. I will probably be in on multiple kits. I wanted to give some feedback for a few of the kits.

Ergo
NoPunIn10Did has a great guide for kitting Ergo on KAT. I have also surveyed over 140 ergo users for keymapping preferences (I plan to post the result eventually when I clean up stuff graphically. I am happy to share the data with you directly though). I think the Ergo kit is already pretty good especially considering KAM has greater compatibility due to being uniform profile. I know you probably don’t want to add too many extra keys to the kits and drive up the price, but I would recommend adding the following 1.5u keys (roughly in order of importance):
  • Quote/Apostrophe (Most commonly used on right hand home row)
  • Vertical Brace/Brackets (Most common after layer/function for vertical keys.)
  • Another Control, and Alt, or the three stacked line (Layer?) key for boards that have 1.5u on bottom row.
  • Minus/Underscore (Very common on top right of right hand)
  • Grave (`~) (Somewhat common replacement for Escape in top left of left hand)
  • Equals/Plus (Somewhat common as one of the top corner mods)
I would personally really like #3 to be added since I have several ergo boards that use 1.5u keys on the bottom row, and I think there would be a lot of people that would like at least 1 and 2 (1 and 2 are very common).
Also, it looks like the layouts pictures in the Boardwalk renders would not actually be possible as those cool audio meter level keys in the Equalizer kit picture are 2u, not 1.5u. It would be cool to see those in 1.5u too.

It would also be pretty nice if you included three 1.25u keys (most likely Control, GUI, and Alt/Layer/another Control) for The Boardwalk 65% layout with 6.25u spacebar and arrow cluster.

Spacebars
Thank you for including two 2u spacebars in the Spacebars kit and the Nomad kit. Many designers only include one 2u or one of each color and people have to buy additional kits just for another 2u spacebar. (I don't understand why, considering how common 2u x2 spacebar layouts are in ortho boards.) Also, I am assuming the “1.25” label on the second 1u spacekey is supposed to read “1.00”? Or is there one 1u and one 1.25u? (I hope it is two 1u keys.) It would also be nice to be able to get a 7u spacebar without buying the modifier kit. I don't know if adding it to the Alphas kit would make pricing difficult, but I seem to me that most people would buy Alphas + Modifiers, Nomad, or Ergo. Nomad users might not benefit from getting a 7u in the Alphas, but it would make no difference to regular Modifier user and it would benefit Boardwalk users for the Ergo kit.

Icon Designs for Tab, Backspace, Delete
In the current design the Tab and Backspace icons are basically mirrors, which doesn’t really make sense since they do completely different and unrelated things. The delete key is just an “x”, which I think is ok, but I always sort of think of Delete as the mirror of Backspace. My suggestions would be to remove the vertical line before the Backspace arrow and instead put an “x” or dash or something through the line (<-x-) and then make the Delete key the mirror of that. I tried to draw what I am talking about below. Alternatively you could use the Tab icon with the two arrows and use the current Tab icon for Delete. It might also be fun to include a 1u Trash icon in the Office kit.
