If that's true, it's disappointing that Round5 doesn't follow the improved more ergonomic layout Jil_jil did and that I think Penumbra will follow.
I disagree here. I see two major differences between the sets:
1) Commando is using row 3 for all the rows that have alphas. While this is more convenient if you want to make your own dvorak or colemak set and might be more appealing optically because the shift keys have the same profile as the alpha keys on the same row, it's certainly
less ergonomic. You basically have a flat field of alphas, which conflicts with the whole point of profiles. Round 5 has a dedicated sets for colemak, Dvarak and BEPO, which is clearly the better solution.
2) Commando is using row 4 for Control/Windows/Alt: I agree that this is more ergonomic than using row 3. I thought the reason for that was that there was no 1.25u row 4 mold, but the new pictures from commando show that it exists. EDIT: 7bit tells me that 1.25u row 4 molds only exist in matte, not semi-matte top surface. Which would be inconsistent with the other keys, and the Commando set is in fact inconsistent in that respect.
