jdcarpe,

I noticed, by studying the info-graphic in the OP, the regular 2.25x and 2.75x shift keys are Row 3, but the 1.75x shift and the 1x FN key that goes with it are Row 4. This is what that would result in, an obvious mismatch:

http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/41656e509c6852c163299e31aa7252fb

Is that really how they are?

--Shawn
I'm actually wondering if there will be another small GB for Row 4 shift in the future.

I think it was stated in this thread that once SP gets hold of a mold with the right stem positions for the Row 4 shift, there will be a mini group buy for it. AFAIK the current mold of the Row 4 has the wrong stem placements.

this is the 'SA Shift Problem' and why there were so many row3 sa sets; they wanted to avoid mismatched shifts.

I thought there simply wasn't a row 4 shift in the sizes skipped?

Keychain + Enabler = 1 key keypad.

Duplicate as many times as required = keyboard.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

No kits, no muss, no fuss. Alphas, Mods, Numpad, Tsangan, ISO, and JD40/45 all included. One kit to rule them all. :)

But what about my ErgoDox? :-P

I've always stated that people are free to put up IC/GB on PMK for whatever kits in the same colorway, that they think can make MOQ, which I haven't included in the set. It's nothing personal, I just made a kit to cover what 80% of people need, because the other 20% would price an already expensive set out of anyone's reach.

This will be my first SA profile set, and I'm excited to try out the profile!

Oh I know, I'm just pulling your chain. In reality this kit would cover most of what I need for my dox the downside being I wish I could easily just get blanks that match for the other keys. At least from what I can tell we can't just order blanks in a specific color/profile anywhere.

You can always ask Melissa at SP about buying blanks. I know they used to sell them.

SP has pulled the overstock section from their site. I know they sell single keys in PBT DSA in a small selection of colours, they do not appear to do the same with other profiles or plastics.

No harm in asking though, they may be able to accommodate.

thats one thing they tend to be pretty good at, accommodating requests like that, particularly with blanks

Cash can always be acquired but missing out on this version of SA Profiled Brilliance will harm your devotion to keyboards.  I know we concentrate on GMK which is admirable but this colour-way devised by CTRL/ALT, is unique and I am a fervent addict to SP's SA profile, above all others they create at their factory.  Yes indeed, US of A is represented in "Hack'd by Geeks" key-set and if you really want to be known as a true Geekhack Addict, then you need these babies.

As I mentioned before they won't be re-done ever again so now's the time to start shaking some trees for extra cash and convincing your girl friends to front up with some extra money here.  Do what ever you need to including submitting to any adverse positions for your master because in the end you shall own a very unique key-set that NOT everyone shall have the privilege to own.

I'm buying this key-set because it stirs something from my long distant past, a desire to remember what it's like to use older keyboards and their unique layouts.  Also remembering my downloads of first pron pics of Vanessa Del Rio and Traci Lords which made life at school just that little more tolerable, yes I was a PC addict way back then simply because you could build a pc from scratch and bring it to life. You could affirm your own existence when your face was covered in pimples and looking like some giant ape escaped from a local zoo, it was really that bad for me back then.

Memories from the past wasn't all good or decent but it helps to build what you are today and I hope that everyone climbs onboard this Hack'd Geek-Set and populate some keyboards because it will look truly amazing  :thumb: .

I was struggling with myself if I should get this or not. Actually I still am struggling, because it would fit my grey QFR case perfectly. But sometimes you have to think rationally.
If he cannot afford it, then don't talk him into overspending his money. There are people for which 133$ is a ****load of money. And they have to spend their money wisely. Pls don't talk them into things they might regret.

EDIT: especially with hyperfuse running currently ... **** ... cannot ... decide .... brain .... hurts

**** ... cannot ... decide .... brain .... hurts

Even if you don't like it after it arrives, someone will take it off your hands through classifieds faster than you can blink. But that's not gonna happen because you will love it.

I actually just got laid off for reporting my workplace for state violations :( I'd definitely  pick one up if I get the spare cash though.

I understand that sometimes we don't always have the money at the right time to get in on everything we want. But, as Elrick said above, be prepared to live with the regret that follows. As a personal example, I steered MiTo into making PuLSE a very nice contoured SA profile group buy keycap set. I knew I had to buy it, after I had gone through the effort to ensure it would be a great set. So I ordered a set. At the time, the Green Tea set was running concurrently, which I really wanted as well. However, I was strapped for cash, and couldn't afford both. When the sets started shipping, I immediately regretted not buying into the Green Tea GB. I was able to pick up a base set and mods later, but I am still searching for a SmallFry kit for my JD40. I should have sold something to pay for the Green Tea set when it was available.

These will likely never be made again once this GB ends. This set seems expensive, because everything is in one kit. But look back at your previous GB purchases through PMK, and you will probably find that you spent as much or more on a single GB purchase, after you ordered all the child kits you needed.

So, my advice is don't miss out on this, if you have even a passing interest. Contoured SA is very nice for typing. SA keycaps are THICK and beautiful. This set was well thought out by BunnyLake and me to be one of the best sets ever made, in a colorway that both reminds you of the "old" days of computer terminals, and is representative of Geekhack forum colors.

You are not alone when it comes to choosing which key-set to buy BUT there is even a more desperate emotion known as 'regret'.  When I first joined GH many years ago and heard about Group Buys and various coloured key-caps being available for everybody, I was very fearful but extremely excited.   Never even had a mechanical keyboard before until I saw my first Group Buy and jumped on it, then another Group Buy was announced and sure enough it ALSO knocked me off my chair, just looked so brilliant and wanted to die because I had no money left to buy any more key-sets.

Managed to ONLY get one key-set but my disappointment in missing the other Group Buy really destroyed me,  couldn't eat, sleep or even see my girl friend at the time, it just wasn't worth living anymore.  So to avoid my type of experience you need to organize your finances better, meaning you take up a part time job, casual job anything at all including selling some of your mate's weed on a street corner.  Even sold off one of my Valiant's at the time that I was restoring, that was how I built up my savings chest doing whatever it takes to get the money flowing into my biscuit tin (savings bank at the time).

Now I try not to miss out on any important Group Buy because being a loser is easy but being a winner is quite hard and difficult, you have to sacrifice so much but in the end it all comes together if you are indeed a true Keyboard Fanatic  8) .

Wait, you sold a Valiant to get more key-caps?  I admire your dedication, but I think that went a bit far.  :))
Collector-of-switches.  Cherry: red, brown, blue, black, grey (linear), green.  Alps: simp./comp. white, comp. blue, Matias.  NMB: white, black.  Futaba: Cherry stem.  Omron: yellow.  Topre: 45g  Various: Apple II+, TRS80 Model 1, C64, Acorn Electron, ZX81 (lol!).

Yep, bought an old, rusty AP6 from a friend who was intending to rebuild it, but when Geekhack hit me hard decided to let go something that was so precious to me, in my pursuit of the coloured key-caps.  Now I'm lucky to hold a good job that pays well, especially now and can afford to choose the very best sets to buy, as my tastes have grown somewhat from my early days of being here.

But that's part of life, the will to sacrifice an item for something better, although I am still looking for another AP6 to buy and rebuild myself.

Entering the last 10 days, I feel like we're getting close now  ;D

I just thought of my own little logistical problem: since I got in on this & the Hyper Fuse set, I've paid for both of them to ship as a single order I guess. Not sure if I want to wait that long for these to arrive ..

Okay so where are you going?  Curious to know because I'm an old nut-bag and I've got nowhere to go yet I'm happy to wait for these babies to arrive at my address here in Convict Town.

If I can wait, what makes you so special requiring immediate delivery of these items?

I figured I might ask for separate shipping of the 2 sets.

Sure, I could wait, but since I basically decided to get these as my first "group buy" keyset, I'd like to put them on my board as fast as possible. During confirmation of the order, I browsed through the webshop one last time to see if I could find anything else worthwhile, and I stumbled upon the Hyper Fuse set :)

By the way, why make such a reference like I'm implying I'm special in any way?

Yeah, that's all up to you. Pay less for combined shipping and wait for both sets to ship at the same time, or pay separate shipping for each and get this one before Hyperfuse.

Decisions, decisions...

although hyperfuse has a longer buy period, traditionally gmk are very fast at production, so they should arrive at a pretty similar time

but if one arrives first, and you want it asap, we can sort that at the time

German efficiency, now only if we could get shipping companies in the US to work the same way.
