Nope!! It's actually polycarb. I just updated the post with another photo that should clarify it for you! :)Holy smokes that looks good!! that just convinced me to go polycarb for the bottom. Thanks for updating with that photo ;)

I will be posting the google form on September 30, 2018 at 1300 PDT (UTC -7). It will be open for 24 hours. Please only fill out the form if you intend on buying.(https://thumbs.gfycat.com/OddballMisguidedAmericanblackvulture-size_restricted.gif)
There will be 30 slots available. If there are more than 30 entries submitted to the form, I will be raffling them. Invoices will be sent out within the next few days. They will include cost of the board, shipping, and PayPal fees.(https://thumbs.gfycat.com/DearGrimyEgret-size_restricted.gif)
Dumb question, can this come pre-assembled?
I'm ready :eek:
Edit: What was the final verdict on the PCB, USB-Mini or USB-C? And QMK yes?
Great to see this getting going! Going to be fun seeing what kinds of builds people will come up with.

QMK, and usb-mini! Sorry, I'll update that in the post. ^^Awesome, thanks :thumb:
Would love if this could be fully Poly.
Super excited ! What is the production time of the kit !?
Very excited for this board! Question though, will the brass be treated to prevent patina?
Darn :(Would love if this could be fully Poly.
There are full polycarbonate ones in existence but the tops ended up being majorly warped, which is why they aren't in this buy.

I'm happy you approve of the price! I think the aluminum top, poly plate, and poly bottom are a great combination. The underglow comes through really well and it's gorgeous :3
Can we have more information about the PCB?
I'm wondering if it already includes LEDs on the underside for that polycarbonate bottom, or do we have to do it on our own?

Hi! Sorry I didn’t include that in the original post. I always forget not everyone who views the GB looks at the IC. The PCB will have underglow LEDs already soldered to it. Indicator and in switch LEDS are not provided.
Good luck everybody! PAPA BLESS
Has anyone else had experience with polycarb plates? How do they feel?IMO they are less harsh and bouncier. It's not for everyone but I greatly prefer polycarb over other materials. I also prefer the sound signature.
I'm p sure I'd wanna go for alu top and bottom w/ a spare polycarb bottom, but plate material is the hardest choice in the world apparently 😬

Ooh less harsh sounds nice, what's different about the sound? I'd imagine it would be duller.Quieter and bassier imo. Here's a 280 with a polycarb (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn9GPzYf3ss&t) and a a 280 with brass (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C25TXtLd7Q4). It's not amazingly different but I think the polycarb is more pleasant sounding.
I can't choose between polycarbonate bottom and aluminum bottom.
Originally there would have been an EU proxy, any chance that is the case now as well?

Because this is a small buy, there will be no proxies. I am handling this buy with my partner and we are based in the US.

kelly, Could you tell me the weight of tmo50?
kelly, Could you tell me the weight of tmo50?
That depends on what parts you want weighed. I no longer have any metal plates or bottoms in my obsession since they were all sent out to the founders. I can weigh an aluminum top, polycarbonate plate, and polycarbonate bottom together. I can get that weight to you in a few hours since I’m working atm :3
If I understand this correctly, it will be possible to color all of those 3 alu parts differently?Super excited ! What is the production time of the kit !?
I don't have a production timeline for the kit because there are 6 colors offered for the aluminum parts. There are three aluminum parts that can be colored. The variation in choice is too large to gauge a proper timeline. I hope you understand.

Also a question about in the OT mentioned „ordering only 2 duplicated parts“: Is it not possible, to i.e. order 1 top, 2 different plates and the 2 bottom options? If so, does this also include PCBs? I really struggle to understand this sentence correctly (which might be a problem of my english skills, ofc.. ;))

Hi! Sorry it’s confusing. I can edit the post to make it clearer. Everyone is limited to one aluminum top. You may order up to two plates, two bottoms, and two PCBs.

I was thinking the same! We're you thinking top sage and bottom dark grey? What were your plans as far as keyset?
Couldn't decide between purple haze and subtle sage... which color you guys think it suits best with GMK plum/nautilus/samurai/9009 R1 and oblivion white alpha? Thanks..
Yeah, I think since the sage is a bit more „special“, I‘d go for top sage. Is the form going to be updated on the first post or a new post here.
I'm confused by the order form. If I do NOT want any extra parts, does that mean 1 PCB is included with the rest of the kit? And if so, do I need to assume +$40 for it?

that was my thinking... there will be an extra 40 for the PCB as well as extra for shipping/PP fees.

To be honest, I didn‘t plan that far ahead regarding keycaps.. :) I might put DSA Milkshake on it, since it would be fitting in regards of cuteness.. ;) We‘ll see.

What happened to the 150-200 price range? What are we looking at for a full kit now? Like $450 without shipping? I followed this project from the very start and it sucks to see something that started off as a fun, affordable project deviated into a profit making group buy as soon as interest started to pick up along the way. Was really interested at one point but probably no longer anymore.

It's fine that you aren't interested since there is already plenty of interest :3 Funder originally listed that price estimate before contacting manufacturers. Parts were more expensive than expected. Prices in this buy are based on the fact that I am only allowing 30 people to participate so quantity for production will be low. Why am I limiting it? Because I have other things I need to focus on such as my job. I also want to make sure that I have the time to closely inspect all boards to make sure they're okay to send out. To get boards out to winners in a timely manner after looking at them myself and packing them all, I have to limit how many people enter. If you read through the end of the IC, you'll see that funder was originally not planning to do a GB because he cannot put aside the time to do so. I offered to run a buy for him as a favor to help get some boards out to the public because I know waiting for an unknown amount of time sucks for those who really wanted to get the board.
I don't know where you're getting the number $450 unless you plan to order double aluminum bottoms but the kits range from $220-305 before shipping. I'm sorry that you're not happy with the prices for such a limited group buy, but this was the highest amount of slots I could reasonably do and these were the prices that were given for that quantity.Just want to say, I love the color names =)
They're lovely names! Funder thought of them <3
So difficult to choose a color combo! Probably too early, but will the next round allow those that get picked the option to purchase just a top or just a base? Can't wait to see the combos the winners come up with!
Making a colour choice is hard! Planning to have sage green and 9009 with red accents, while my partner wants rose gold and 9009 with green accents. Here’s hoping we both get in for a cute couple’s photo!

Tbh I felt the same way at first like this is way too expensive for such a small board, but as I look at it more and more (and after realizing that the first PCB is *not* an additional $40), I realize now it's quite a fair price. Plus, it looks awesome. Hopefully I get lucky and can get my **** together to pay for it :thumb:

Thank you for expressing your opinion and feelings. It's good you've actually quoted my message from March. As you can see it's been 6 months since that message. As most up-and-comers I was feeling optimistic and at that time was thinking "Oh this will be a simple DIY kit". At the very first week or so (IC was posted 16th March) I hadn't even received a quote yet alone done any real calculations about how much a thing like this would cost with all taken into account (my time, customs, packaging, shipping expenses etc.).
Calling out that this is a "profit making group buy" is plain nonsense and the prices are clearly nowhere near $450. I'd have to add that physical size of a board is not of essence when it comes to the pricing as TMO50 is still a three part construction and demands the same time and manufacturing complexity than any other board. $220 to $305 for a complete small run custom board that's unique, has a lot of PCB features (RGB components aren't cheap) and made out of high quality materials with a multitude of options to choose from... I don't have time to fact check but you'd have to agree that these prices are on the low end of custom, premium material, small run keyboard GBs.
I would still like to thank you for the support and hope you understand. Kelly's an angel and I'm extremely thankful for the time and effort she's putting in to make this happen for you guys. Good luck to you all and may RNGesus shine upon your entries!

Tbh, even if I don‘t win (which of course would be sad), I kinda like the tension of the raffle! It adds to the „experience“ now and will later, if you actually won the board and hold it in your fingers! :)

The price for this kit is beyond fair so much in fact I was able to pick up both bottoms. Well if I won a lucky spot that is and I hope so as I love this layout.
Rip i missed the form i thought it was going to be on sept 30 :( damn
Im so sad I didn't win. I entered as soon as it opened.
Congrats to all winners.
Oh wait what.. so you did change the raffle date? :-X
Thank you so much!! Out of curiosity, can you tell us how many entries there were?
I couldn't find a TMO50 directory in qmk/qmk_firmware (not that I was necessarily expecting to), is that something that someone's added to a different fork of it somewhere? How did the founders program their boards initially?
I've been faffing around with layouts in KLE for like months now and it would be nice to start translating them into QMK.

Hi!
So yeah - Founders boards has a "beta" version of pre-installed keymapping that they actually changed pretty fast to suit their own preferences. Even though most of them has had their boards for almost a month, I'm still trying to "collect" all of their keymappings and make one that I feel/see most robust (stuff like tap/hold keys etc.) I'll try and get most of them this week and create a QMK with a "default" one next week. I'm actually thinking of possibly making two defaults - one for a split and another for a 6.25u spacebar option. What layout will YOU plan on using?

This is the layout I would be using if I had won the raffle. :( http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/a1d7d6848712321da3348c94617cb76d
I have been playing with the idea of 4-left keys for a while (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/d7c1448f1d5f5056dd23d2c82ad9394a). They would be used primarily when mousing to handle common tasks. Copy/Paste would work so that when you pressed the key it would send "Copy" and when you released the key it would send "Paste".
Bummer that I did not get a slot ;(
If anyone decides to give up their slot, let me know !!

really smart layout. i love it! thanks for sharing.
Hey!
I was wondering what the reasoning is for the open row 2 in the plate? Is it to increase flex? Or for sound reasons maybe? I can't figure it out and it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere?
Chris.
That area of the plate seems to be fixed layout though? Unless I'm missing something?Hey!

I think its because of the 2 layout options.

Middle row can go two ways:
- Regular (0.25u / 0.5u) stagger but for Ctrl/Enter you'd need to get 40% kit for right profiles (base kit would be 1.75u R3 CapsLock + 1.25u R4 Modifier).
- Small (0.25u / 0.25u) stagger but Ctrl/Enter can be R2 Tab & \| keys so there's a slight profile difference but layout is completely base kit compatible.

That's that solved, thanks! (And you Xondat, can't figure how to multiquote conveniently on mobile).That area of the plate seems to be fixed layout though? Unless I'm missing something?
There's some information in the top post of the IC thread that's hidden behind a "more" button:Middle row can go two ways:

Because of the choice of middle row stagger, that plate row was left totally open.

does anyone have experience with the smaller stagger? Is it a noticeable difference? Now I'm 2nd guessing... the default stagger option is still base keycap compatible right? just using some keys from different rows?I've used a GK64 in the past that uses a 2u left shift, didn't bother me at all.

hello friends
I'll be doing a build stream for the TMO tonight at around 19:00 or 20:00 CET at https://www.twitch.tv/meltedcheesekeebs
will announce closer to the time on my insta https://www.instagram.com/meltedcheesekeebs/
sorry it's short notice, I just got my **** together to be able to confidently say I can build it tonight.
I'm hoping that anyone intested can ask questions or see the board, really actually building it is the secondary purpose of streaming.
See ya
Talking about R2 - let's see. I hope I can run it myself but we should finish this one and then see how it goes.
BUT
if people isn't following the IC thread anymore then I would like to cross-post a message here from RealLaugh:Quotehello friends

Now I'm 2nd guessing... the default stagger option is still base keycap compatible right? just using some keys from different rows?I use the small stagger on my TMO. It is a noticeable difference at first, but I adjusted pretty quickly. I'm not the fastest typer, so I'm not sure if it makes more of a difference on the top end. For me it was just a matter of typing with it, and I got the hang pretty quickly, even after moving between boards. That being said, I think if I get another plate or desolder, I might change it to the normal layout just to see how that feels. I think I like that a little better aesthetically, though I definitely appreciate the compatibility of the small stagger.

Sucks that I missed this... was having serious personal issues last few months and had to step away from keyboards for a while.I agree went through the same thing. Sold my collection over a year due to personal issues, so I understand. i just returned to MKBs about a month & a half ago. As of now, I’m recovering some of the stuff that I sold & trying to call in some favors. My fingers are alsofor TMO50 rd 2!!!
Please let there be a R2, this was one of the only keyboards I feel truly sad about missing out on.
Alternatively I will buy someone's GB slot including shipping, PayPal fees, etc.
There was a really lovely person I got to meet at the Vancouver meetup that had the proto 00/10 TMO50. If there's a second round of this I'd love to get in on it! Either the purple or the Olivia colour for sure.Did you get any pictures of it? I really hope that rd 2 happens. I want one too. Dixie Mech posted his on RMK today. I’m attaching the picture & here’s the post: https://reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/9y3rg0/refrigerator_custom_photoshoot/

That's right! It was definitely my favourite board when I was there, it was just so cute! It's really made me want to get one of these, so I'm really hoping a round two comes next year.
is that poly bottom? I was thinking maybe I should have spent a little more to get a matching color, but now I'm happy. Great pics!

I talked with Kelly about this yesterday and the boards are still in QC if I understand correctly so it'll be with Kelly this year hopefully. But then there's Christmas and it's best to wait until the Christmas shipping rush dies down a bit. Don't quote me on WHEN the boards will be shipped but I'm rooting that QC goes well and they're shipped early next year. If so then it's still a good turnaround given GB started late September. ;)

Gorgeous case. Been looking at Keyboard Belle's kb line, didn't see this though. Did you print it yourself? Be curious to know other 3d printed case vendors if you are aware of any.

I prefer smaller stagger in fact I love my ergodox board which is ortholinear. Would you mind sharing a picture of your TMO? I'm a bit confused about getting the 0.25/0.25 stagger setup. Thank you!Yeah, no problem!

Hi guys!
I've heard that most of the boards are heading to their rightful owners soon! :-*
So I just wanted to let you know that I finally pushed QMK code for TMO50. You can check it here (https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tmo50). There is a "default" keymap and it's the one that's flashed on your GB pcbs too. More of a placeholder so people can easily try it out and see what to improve or customise to their liking but it's what I use and what some of the founders suggested (like adding a space in the number layer so you don't have to leave Layer 1 just to type a space between numbers).
Macros aren't populated (except M1 in layer 3) so share away what you plan on using them for. :thumb:

Got mine and was finally able to build it up and loving it so far. I am not proficient with QMK yet so I know I will be able to fix it there, but from my attempt I am unable to access the numbers through pressing the function keys in any way. I thought from looking at the photo of the layout they would be on the home row. Also, I am not able to to any of exclamation point, 'at' sign, etc.. either. I am pressing all sorts of combos but if anyone knows and help a fool out then I would very appreciative [happy face]

2. How to enable to layout led indicator? I know that the one without the circle is VCC(+)..
3. How to change the under-glow RGB led mode? I only able to change the color, but the effect is only breathing...
Thanks for your help.

They're on pins B0 to B3, something like this should do it: https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/handwired/woodpad/keymaps/drashna/keymap.c#L74-L88 (https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/handwired/woodpad/keymaps/drashna/keymap.c#L74-L88).
void matrix_init_user(void) {
DDRB |= (1 << PB0); //init B0
PORTB &= ~(1 << PB0); //turn on B0
DDRB |= (1 << PB1);
PORTB |= (1<<PB1); //turn off B1
DDRB |= (1 << PB2);
PORTB |= (1<<PB2);
DDRB |= (1 << PB3);
PORTB |= (1<<PB3);
}
uint32_t layer_state_set_user(uint32_t state)
{
// if on layer 0, turn on B0 LED, otherwise off.
if (biton32(state) == 0) {
PORTB &= ~(1<<PB0);
} else {
PORTB |= (1<<PB0);
}
// if on layer 1, turn on B1 LED, otherwise off.
if (biton32(state) == 1) {
PORTB &= ~(1<<PB1);
} else {
PORTB |= (1<<PB1);
}
// if on layer 2, turn on B2 LED, otherwise off.
if (biton32(state) == 2) {
PORTB &= ~(1<<PB2);
} else {
PORTB |= (1<<PB2);
}
// if on layer 3, turn on B3 LED, otherwise off.
if (biton32(state) == 3) {
PORTB &= ~(1<<PB3);
} else {
PORTB |= (1<<PB3);
}
return state;
}

Using the other split spacebar as a layer toggle. Also ignore the R4 ctrl. Didn't want two tab keys.
Help needed here:
1. is there any hex file and json file available to download? I want to change a bit the keymap from the default one so backup is extremely helpful.
2. How to enable to layout led indicator? I know that the one without the circle is VCC(+)..
3. How to change the under-glow RGB led mode? I only able to change the color, but the effect is only breathing...
Thanks for your help.
Hi!
1. I have a .hex and .json files for the default. I'll share them here after an edit. But if you know how to use QMK, default layers on here (https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tmo50). ;)
2. In the works, what functionality are you looking for?
3. Please refer to the cheat sheet I've shared here (https://imgur.com/a/NcjJRHl). Hold down MO(3) and press Z to toggle through them.

thanks, funderbunker; I able to change the RGB effect and looking forward to the hex file and json file.
About the led indicators, when press Fn(1) to type number, for example, no led turn on or the layout 0 is a default, I would expect the led layout 0 to shine, is it suppose to be that way?
I'm having the same problem as Lunr, when I try to flash my TMO50 using the QMK Configurator + QMK Toolbox. I know my layout has been made and compiled correctly, but when I flash it, all the keys are basically shifted to the right by a column. Anyone else have or solve this issue?

I haven't used QMK configurator + QMK Toolbox but it sounds like there's an issue with that quirkly Col1. I added a .json file here (https://github.com/emiilsd/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tmo50/keymaps/default) so you can try and replicate the matrix. I think Lunr got it fixed though so maybe he can help.

Is there any way to dim the indicator lights programmatically (or at least set the brightness when the keyboard turns on) ?
Mine finally arrived !!!!Congrats & looking forward to build pics!
Now I have to sit through another two hours of meetings before I can go home and play with it
Where are we at with a R2 of this? Failing that, if anyone is keen on moving their R1 please hmu.
Main build bit done!! Haven't done indicator LEDs yet

Main build bit done!! I haven't done indicator LEDs yet, and my current keyset is a little lacking in the spacebars/100% correct profiles front, but dang I love this board so farNice & what keyset(s) did you use?
The top left switch is a linear locking one, and the rest are Kailh Box Yellows with Hako True springs because I love both linears and punishing myself when I bottom out.

I flash the lastest hex from github and the led indicators work like charm. Thanks funderbunker and everyone for your support.For some reason that won't open, can you host it somewhere else?
Quick video shot by phone to demonstrate.
Edit: i was dumb to insert fb link here... uploading to youtube

A very fun board indeed! This is my first ever sub-60% keyboard, and I think I will be able to get used to typing with it, albeit not as quickly as my usual with larger layouts.
Here is my Rose Goldia TMO50, that I have just built with RGB housing Cherry MX Silent Red, 65g, lubed with an mkawa-style thin Krytox mix and added clear polycarbonate films.

I built my keyboard and I love it!! Thank you everyone who made this happen :thumb:
May I get some suggestions on what cable to use? All mini usb cables I have can't fit into the small carveout of the top case. Thank you!
I built my keyboard and I love it!! Thank you everyone who made this happen :thumb:Yeah, I literally took a knife to the plastic on my Lindy cable and shaved off a mm around the mini USB connector to get it in far enough. Worth it, though.

Someone may share a picture comparing sizes with a sixty? I am under the impression that the TM050 is even wider than a sixty.

PICS PICS PICS PICS
Also usually custom cables from places like pexonpcs or coolcable.co.uk use like thinner plastic shrink stuff on the connectors, which makes them narrower and easier to fit in.
Here we go! The cable is a cheap one I found so I could cut it to fit into the socket...
Has anyone found a good wrist rest to pair with the TMO yet?

I'm considering trying to get a purple lightning infused one if its offered from thishttps://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=99237.0;topicseen (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=99237.0;topicseen)buy that's in IC stage right now, but no not yet for me. Right now i've been using some cheapo blue rubber one I got free from work.

Yeah, unfortunately a fatter cable can have this issue. But that's one thick cable connector you got there! :confused:
Nice to see Dvorak on a TMO50, actually first time seeing one. Haven't tried dvorak but does TMO50 layout suit it well?

Super depressed I missed out on this, looks amazing. Would kill for a R2 of this as it's probably close to endgame for me.
Hi,
a small update. Some people have asked me for tmo50's plate files and I wanted to share them sooner but didn't have the time. I made two of them - one for regular stagger (1.25u/1.75 middle row) and one for offset stagger (1.5u/1.5u middle row). You can find both in the TMO50 repo (https://github.com/emiilsd/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tmo50/dxfs).

Same, I really want a r2 but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon. In the meantime, let's just hope someone sell it on mm :-[

I'm sorry that I don't have a timeline for R2 but it's just not a priority for me right now as I have a lot on my plate unfortunately. I value your comments though and am eager to run R2 once I'm ready. Seeing the greatly positive response from the community is really motivating. ;)
