Hey everyone
« on: Sun, 08 March 2015, 10:09:24 »
Had an account since last year but never used it. Been looking around over the weekend and the community here looks incredible so I just ordered myself a load of stuff to start making my own keycaps; I have a basic understanding of the process and can't wait to get started. Once I've got my method down I'm probably going to be accepting requests occasionally and it'd be awesome to see whether any of you would be interested in something like that?

I look forward to talking to you all!  ;D

Welcome to Geekhack!

You won't believe how many make their own keycaps!  Just have a browse through artisan services and some of the sub-forums!

And that's not all, there's a bunch of people starting out making keycaps, some of them have some very nice designs!

Don't be afraid to ask silly questions if you encounter problems making the keycaps - there are lots of people here willing to help.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Oh cool! I'll have a look when I get home from work.

Yea, I'm an artist by trade already so hopefully I can make some designs that people like.

Thanks very much for the warm welcome :)
