I’ve been playing around building little Steampunk gizmos and ecorations for a while and recently decided to up the ante a little by building a Steampunk laptop. It’s going to be totally impractical to take out and about but I want one just the same
. Anyway I’ve been hunting around for a relatively low cost way to make the keyboard.
I’m using an Aukey board with blue switches combined with typewriter style caps I got from China. The caps are nice but there were keys missing, or rather just blank, and they are for a US layout. My Aukey has a UK layout. So although these keys look great I’m trying to find a way to convert them to U.K. markings. Nobody seems to sell U.K. typewriter style caps which is a bugger. I’ve ordered some stickers but I doubt they’ll last.
Anyway, it’s meant stumbling into his intriguing world so hopefully I can pick up some ideas here.
