Congrats to all winners.

Me too.... timer went off on my phone, ignored a customer, and signed into a unsecured computer at work in my haste to enter.
Oh well.  I guess there can't be a golden ticket in every wonka bar.

Oh wait what.. so you did change the raffle date?  :-X

When the post went up originally, it had the date Sept 30. My manufacturer contacted me shortly after and requested I place the order earlier so that we could get in line for production before the holidays started. I posted to the thread and changed the date on the original post to Sept 27, telling people that the change of date happened and why. :<

I couldn't find a TMO50 directory in qmk/qmk_firmware (not that I was necessarily expecting to), is that something that someone's added to a different fork of it somewhere? How did the founders program their boards initially?

I've been faffing around with layouts in KLE for like months now and it would be nice to start translating them into QMK.

Hi!

So yeah - Founders boards has a "beta" version of pre-installed keymapping that they actually changed pretty fast to suit their own preferences. Even though most of them has had their boards for almost a month, I'm still trying to "collect" all of their keymappings and make one that I feel/see most robust (stuff like tap/hold keys etc.) I'll try and get most of them this week and create a QMK with a "default" one next week. I'm actually thinking of possibly making two defaults - one for a split and another for a 6.25u spacebar option. What layout will YOU plan on using?

I'm really not sure yet! At the moment the layout I was thinking about was something like: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/f1f0df360143cb4ea1b475dd42c7a39a

But I'm not sure about the right shift/-_ keys, and the layout of the fn/cmd/alt/ctrl on the bottom row, at the moment.

Also not sure about the left side function keys, and the top left key is gonna be a locking switch because I have two and I wanna fit it in somewhere but idk what it should do :P toggle colemak/qwerty or something?

Basically I wanted to check out other people's layouts and steal any/all good ideas ;)

Since you are asking, I plan on using a split-space layout.

This is the layout I would be using if I had won the raffle.  :( http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/a1d7d6848712321da3348c94617cb76d

I have been playing with the idea of 4-left keys for a while (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/d7c1448f1d5f5056dd23d2c82ad9394a). They would be used primarily when mousing to handle common tasks. Copy/Paste would work so that when you pressed the key it would send "Copy" and when you released the key it would send "Paste".

That's one hella feature-packed keymapping.

I only wanted to look around - please don't feel bad if I don't make a keymap that suits everybody from the start, default will be made by me for me (inspired by others ). Something Talljoes keymapping is definitely a very personal and specific one.

middle row 1.5/1.5
6.25 spacebar
for maximum compatibility
gonna put the FN to the right of the right shift too.

What sold me on this board from the very first post was the keymapping section with the space/FN/enter modifiers.  It's like a light went on in my head and I had one of those "never knew I had to have it" moments.  Compact, sensible, compatible, and useful.  It covers just about everything.  Originally I just planned on doing Mute toggle, Vol + - or something on the 4 side keys but that copy/paste idea is WOW.

Hey!

I was wondering what the reasoning is for the open row 2 in the plate? Is it to increase flex? Or for sound reasons maybe? I can't figure it out and it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere?

I think its because of the 2 layout options.

That area of the plate seems to be fixed layout though? Unless I'm missing something?

There's some information in the top post of the IC thread that's hidden behind a "more" button:

Middle row can go two ways:
  • Regular (0.25u / 0.5u) stagger but for Ctrl/Enter you'd need to get 40% kit for right profiles (base kit would be 1.75u R3 CapsLock + 1.25u R4 Modifier).
  • Small (0.25u / 0.25u) stagger but Ctrl/Enter can be R2 Tab & \| keys so there's a slight profile difference but layout is completely base kit compatible.

Because of the choice of middle row stagger, that plate row was left totally open.

Just to confirm - yes, the huge open middle row is something that's weird but unfortunately inevitable to have two layout options and just one plate. Founders haven't complained about any flex issues though and it still "clips" MX switches due to their clips being on the top and bottom.

does anyone have experience with the smaller stagger?   Is it a noticeable difference?  Now I'm 2nd guessing...  the default stagger option is still base keycap compatible right? just using some keys from different rows?

does anyone have experience with the smaller stagger?   Is it a noticeable difference?  Now I'm 2nd guessing...  the default stagger option is still base keycap compatible right? just using some keys from different rows?
I've used a GK64 in the past that uses a 2u left shift, didn't bother me at all.

I've used an MA42 that has .25/.25 stagger and I adjusted in like two hours. It's definitely a "YMMV" thing but if you're not really set on "I ONLY use X layout" and let yourself feel around, I think you'll be okay. Also, default stagger (0.25u/0.5u) is possible with a 1.75u CapsLock as Enter and any 1.25u mod key.

Given the first round hasn't even been produced, I would say you should wait a bit longer till any future work is announced.

Talking about R2 - let's see. I hope I can run it myself but we should finish this one and then see how it goes.

BUT

if people isn't following the IC thread anymore then I would like to cross-post a message here from RealLaugh:

hello friends

I'll be doing a build stream for the TMO tonight at around 19:00 or 20:00 CET at https://www.twitch.tv/meltedcheesekeebs

will announce closer to the time on my insta https://www.instagram.com/meltedcheesekeebs/

sorry it's short notice, I just got my **** together to be able to confidently say I can build it tonight.

I'm hoping that anyone intested can ask questions or see the board, really actually building it is the secondary purpose of streaming.

See ya

The stream is live now so anyone is more than welcome to join!

The build went off line; however, that’s a beautiful board & want one even more!

I use the small stagger on my TMO. It is a noticeable difference at first, but I adjusted pretty quickly. I'm not the fastest typer, so I'm not sure if it makes more of a difference on the top end. For me it was just a matter of typing with it, and I got the hang pretty quickly, even after moving between boards. That being said, I think if I get another plate or desolder, I might change it to the normal layout just to see how that feels. I think I like that a little better aesthetically, though I definitely appreciate the compatibility of the small stagger.
