Too lazy to read ToS. Is there anything that condemns drama? I kinda secretly really like the drama threads, and just wondering what the line drawn is on those.

You really should read the ToS.  Saves us a lot of work having to link everyone to it when they inevitably break the rules.  :P

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I don't swear but I disabled the site swear filter because more than once it caused a broken link when a URL happened to have a blacklisted sequence of letters in it. How annoying! Besides, I think the *** stuff just draws more attention.

Same thing with TV censoring. I mean, if you're watching Die Hard, by the end of the movie you've seen some hardcore stuff, and I don't think changing it to "yippee kiy-yay, puddle jumper" is going to magically restore the viewers' innocence. If you can't handle the content as-written, just skip the movie, y'know?

If someone's in strife, I usually tell them to PM a mod, identified by a different coloured name on the front page.

I did post a lot, yes. But I did not spam. There is a difference between posting a lot and posting cr*p. I am on GH a lot, so I post a lot. Is there something wrong about that?

So you are saying that the majority of my posts are ****posts? I never intended it that way. When I ****post I'm rather explicit about it (like posting a meme pic or something... only done that 3 times or so I believe). And in Off Topic I ****post more, but well, that's because it's off topic.

I'm just very enthusiastic. But I get it, I don't have to post for every little thing I see if that is what you are trying to say. Like i've explained over in "what's bothering you", I like GH and I've been bullied a long time for being "different" (liking PC's, keyboards) and I just like to appreciate what people are doing that's all.

EDIT: I understand that posts like "Nice setup!" are perceived as ****posting. But I'm not the only one posting such posts and when I do I mean it. I am not random posting stuff here.

I am honest. I understand the draw of Geekhack - as you rightly pointed out - it's odd to like keyboard and it's almost impossible to know a friend who likes keyboard, so GH is a haven of these friends and it's very natural to just like to say something here, just because it feels like this place is build for the likes of you! I remember saying a lot as well, so I totally get you.

Thanks demik!

I'll be honest here.  I like interacting with you iLL, but it is sort of offputting when the entire unread thread page has you as the last poster on every thread, and it's not consequential posts.  Sometimes it seems that the statements are just to make a statement, rather than add to the thread.

As I said, I like interacting with you and reading your ideas and your obvious enthusiasm. But a lot of the responses don't have that- they just seem to be to post something.  I've had that problem personally before, and tend towards that- but find somewhere else to rest my browser to give the people around a break from my posting, even though, like you, I have a lot of time at work to just post.  I try to come up with something consequential and substantial to add.

Thanks chuckdee! Yeah, I understand it know better. I don't want to be annoying or offputting and I really like to contribute here. I'll do my best and try to behave better and think about the actual contribution first. Still, I try to encourage people but I can see how those posts are interpreted as merely me wanting to post just because.

EDIT: Though I understand what everybody is saying, I am still a little bit confused. When I genuinely appreciate somebody's caps pic or photo or setup, am I not allowed to post "really nice setup you got there" and a question like "what kind of table do you have"? Because A LOT OF PEOPLE are doing that here. Seems a bit random to say that because I post so much I should not do that ever.

Everybody's going to have differing opinions on this, but just to reiterate the opinion I shared in the Milestone thread: it's not the quality of said posts, rather the quantity of posts with that level of quality.  And again, many of us post low quality posts (low quality meaning "nice setup, what is x?", not "hur dur posty posty"), and I've probably crossed the line a few times myself.  I've caught myself on posting sprees before, and have consciously decided to not publish responses that were typed up, because I realized I was basically making a post for every thought I had and it was a bit excessive.

Of course everyone has varying limits to what they deem acceptable for these posts, so I'm sure someone is still frustrated with perceived leniency while you are frustrated and feeling censored.  I assure you it's never personal, and is simply intended to steer the forum toward some sort of equilibrium where we can all engage in banter and have fun with each other, while also avoiding the issue of wading through a bunch of non-contributory posts to find substantial information.

For the record, I don't think anyone is telling you to NEVER make those posts.
