Clack just uses them as placeholders for items. Sometimes it's just numbers or letters eg. 1, 2, 3 or A,B,C etc. It could very well just mean "Green1 ,Green2" etc. where green is his name for this particular sale. It's all part of Click Clacks mystery that we all love so much!

I'm 100% positive some folks do this or something like it (looking at YOU people who defy logic and get in on every 4grabs.) Some people cheat, but you can't prove anything really which sucks.

Its stuff like this that makes me not even want to participate. If you had the time/patience to experiment with your email provider to get a good feel for their average mail relay latency it should be pretty trivial to write a perl/ruby/vbs/etc script that would send an email at exact second (probably a few seconds early to account for network delay) needed for your email to show up at 4:00:00PM.

It's still a raffle even with automation. I would be more concerned about...other things.

So if I get lasered, dibsed, or otherwise acquire one at cost, I'll pass the love on and either give away one of the ones I have or sell it at cost.

I do hate the profiteering.  The main reason I'd do something like that is because I love seeing them end up in the hands of people who will love them and use them.  Don't get me wrong, I understand collecting them, but I love seeing people who don't have one get one and I love seeing them with some sexy setups.
