3.0 Legends Edition
« on: Sun, 31 October 2010, 21:46:25 »
Hello guys, anyone have heard of this?

It's a new version of the epic 3.0 normal edition. Here's a pic of it:

is it worth it?

Or just like random 3.0 Steelseries and 3.0 Alienware..?

Im thinking getting a new mouse, like ec2 or DA.

I Don't like too much 1.1 because of its negative accel, or xai for its accel and mwheel problem or like kinzu for his prediction and HUUUUUUUUUGE accel

for me:
Kinzu shape with mx518 sensor WOULD be AMAZING. i dont know why steel, zowie, etc f* up mouses with hardware accel and prediction!

I was actually checking it out because I'm in need of a new mouse. But from what I read it's just a regular 3.0 with a glossy body and a few things here and there.

To be honest I worry about getting another intelli(WMO) not sure why everyone finds them so special plus everyone mentions just how cheap they feel and quality wise they are abysmal.

Would have gotten the xai myself if it weren't for them being sold out when the 40% off deal was around, didn't want the MoH version. Same with the mionix naos price kinda deters me.

I have that intellimouse.  I got it for 30$ I believe.  I can't tell any difference from previous 3.0's I have had.

It's the same as the other IME3s, but I think the build quality has improved (better buttons, and so on) if it's more expensive than the normal one, you may want to consider just buying that. :)

518 sensor has prediction too. :)

And it doesn't support 1000hz, iirc due to the buffer. Not tried the kinzu yet, a dutch friend is meant to be sending his to me because he doesn't like/use it and knows it wont be updated. I just want to try the shape out, and maybe i'll try and put the WMO sensor in it.

Do you mean the old 518 as in the one with the smaller feet?

Like so?

yep. that one was AMAZING. no prediction and best tracking. i played with one like that for like 3 years and had some problem with cable (usb disconnecting like 1minute). I had to buy the new 518 and damn, it was so crap.

Nowadays there's no good mouse except 3.0 & 1.1 imo. they all have acceleration problems and prediction-- or mwheel stupid bug...

That's a very naive thing to say. That's not the case on some of the current mice around.

All of the 518s have had prediction. The MS mice don't. Only thing that changed between new/old version was the size of feet and the build quality, not the sensor.

My spider sense is tingling. Do you have Asus Smartdoctor software installed?

Is there any chance to see if its installed? (I went to Add or Remove programs didnt see that) and i didnt run Prime95

This is not a paranoid issue. i've playing for like 8 years and never had problems. i've bought this pc and cant fix an sensivity ingame, because nothing fits. It seems that my mouse has a freakin delay, my keyboard has a freakin delay. When i move too fast the mouse doesnt move at all! Something is wrong.. this is maybe MoBo fault..

Smartdoctor loads on bootup it's obvious if you have it loaded.

The reason I asked is I recently discovered it was causing my graphics to stutter every 4 or 5 seconds. This was painfully obvious when running the Furmark graphics test program.

Edit> Maybe you can use this reaction timer to test your system. See if you are getting normal reaction times, around 0.3s, and whether the results are consistent.

You can use it to test the keyboard instead of the mouse too - after clicking start, press Tab. When the screen changes colour, hit the space bar.

The only problem that im having with this computer is that my mouse sensivity doesnt feel the same, or its too fast or its too slow theres no medium fit. the perfect fit. all mouse's feel like it gain acceleration but the acceleration box is uncheckd.

X axis moves too fast Y axis moves too slow, something like that.

Seems that key/mouse have a delay.. well.. i think ill sell the computer lol

Checked the no force commands. Some of them modify the way you move the mouse or in some combination they modify the mouse.

Have you tried Mouse Movement Recorder, part of the MarkC Windows 7 Mouse Acceleration Fix ? Looks good for testing for unwanted acceleration.

The whole subject does my head in. How did they take something as simple as moving a mouse and translating it into pointer movement and make such a mess of it? Even changing to bigger fonts or different screen refresh rates changes mouse movement? Why must "they" always try to be clever instead of keeping it simple?

As I said, the sensor didn't change. The older version DID have prediction.

FYI, unchecking "enhance pointer precision" does _not_ disable acceleration.

Google it. For winxp there are over 60,000 search results on how to really disable mouse accel.

Your problem is most probably a software issue, see my reply in keyboard thread. Start with a new clean OS install.

What Zefrer said, i'll even give you a link.

This is to disable accel. on windows based systems. Might be XP only too, not sure.

the mouse wheel is still the same :// which is quite bad

the only thing that changed is the coating... it's more like the 1.1SE glossy finish

The IME 3.0 is the only mouse I'll ever use.   I've tried pretty much every other mouse out there and nothing compares.   I do 3D design and nothing else tracks like the 3.0, it's like an extension of my hand.

You CAN fix the clunky scroll wheel pretty easy.  Open the mouse.  You'll see the scroll wheel fits into a "cradle".  The problem is, it doesn't always fit snugly, which gives it a loud clunky feel.  Just stick a tiny curled piece of paper into the cradle and snap the wheel back into place.   Then you'll have silky smooth scroll detents!

And this new "legends" edition is sexy.  Pearl white on black.  I've bought 3 of them.
