This thread is to collect information on key cap pullers and where to get them.

Elitekeyboards can't deliver the quantity we need.

Instead, I've found this one:
http://www.specialized.net/Specialized/Keyboard-Key-Cap-Puller--Caps-Off-2087.aspx

Price would be ok:
Quote
Price: $5.00 / 12 or More: $4.75

Are they trustworthy?

Looks okay to me, but might want to have someone call (iMav?) to get a better idea.
They seem to work with the US and State governments, so probably good.

Hooleon (link in the All About Keys Wiki) is higher priced in Qty1 but I bet if you gave them a call and asked for volume pricing they could bring it down a lot.

Wish I knew who did the Filcos, they are my fav.  The OEM can probably do a "Geekhack" logo.

Thumb Friendly!

It looks a bit dangerous to me. Not that someone ends up like the one in the un-sharp section!!!

Ya,  the filcos are way nicer then the generic pullers.  We should try to get one with a GH logo on it as long as it doesnt hold the group buy up.

I like the little round with plastic legs variety because it's small and pocketable.  They should make it with a small secondary hoop to thread on a keychain.  And I can explain to people why my keychain consists of:

* A 2Gb flash drive with a BIOS file for a motherboard I no longer use
* The front of case lock for a case I no longer use
* A keycap puller
* The key to an office where I'm never first in or last out

It is not important to get the old or new version.

We need at minimum 90 Filco key pullers!

And if not 90 then just what they have left in stock.

Yes, great, except that they ship from UK not USA. So the idea to ship the key puller along with the keys does not work if we would get it from keyboardco.com.

hmm, keyboardco shipps intl.
maybe a discount for MO would "catch" the shipping costs?

we could ask bruce in the vendor forum!?

Just ask them directly! But you have to consider that these are shipped accross the atlantic to iMav and then back to europe for instance. I doubt they can sell them so cheap such that it covers all the costs involved!

Total        £232.93 for 80 key pullers.

£2.9 per key puller.

$4.74 before US import taxes and exchange fees!!!!!!!!!

Not too bad, after all.

edit: this should be plan C after finding them in east asia (pland B) where they are most presumably produced and plan A to find them in the US.

So having them shipped from EU is the last option? Have you tried asking keyboardco where they get them, to try and trace who actually produces them?

Just got an email from keyboardco:

Quote
Hi Mads.

Thanks for your email. I hadn't heard about this before - i've been away on holiday for a week so I may have missed it.
I'd be happy to help.
We can do about 25% discount on 100 and shipping as one lot to one address will save money.
We don't have 100 in stock right now though, but there are some coming, or I may get them sent straight from the factory, although that can get complicated and doesn't save much as we'll have them coming in as part of a bigger consignment.

Let me know how we can help. All I need is a credit card and an address then we can send as soon as stock is available.

Best Regards
Bruce

That sound like an idea? 25% rebate on the filco tool. I just asked for a quote for 100 pullers+ shipping to US, so we can get it done. Sounds like they can do it.

I just got a reply from Bruce :)

Hi Mads

I've run this through our trade tool.
Please find pricing as follows:-

100 off FKP01 (Filco Black Key Puller) @ £1.88.
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=632

Carriage (Royal Mail - International Signed For (3-5 days)) £13.27
Total £201.27.

We'll be able to dispatch within 1-2 weeks.

Bruce.

So, 7bit, you can contact Bruce and let him know that you'll handle it. Also, let me know if 100 is too many.

So, where is the information that we actually have keypullers, if not in any of these threads? Just so I would actually notice it and tell bruce we don't need them. And which kind of pullers are we getting?
