Title: Best 60% Wireless l, hot swappable, Mac compatible options?
Post by: Phaseshift on Sun, 02 February 2020, 09:48:50
Does it exists? I'm looking for the best 60% that is bluetooth, hot swappable and durable. No budget and it doesn't have to be pre built.

What's the best one? I've always had a wireless mouse, but I never had a wireless keyboard. They were always kind of small, and sometimes there's a problem with my Mac. Some wireless components don't work properly with it, and I hated that. The first one I got didn't even work well, and it was because I had problems with my wifi. Now I installed https://okaapps.com/product/1455463454, and wifi problems are over.  I hope I get some good suggestions for a wireless keyboard here because I really have no idea which one I should get. I just hope it works in the end because it would be annoying if I had the same problem again.

Velocifire M2  Keychron K6
Bsically same board if you get the rgb edition of the K6.

When two look similar and Chinese brand, just assume it's the same board because odds are it is.
There may be slight differences but you can bet they will be small, the bad thing about these is they're very tall. At the extreme end of what is considered ergonomic, but most small wireless boards are, gotta put that battery somewhere.

Realistically, 60%, wireless is a very niche market, there's maybe 2 or 3 at most if you combine the white label* models under each model.

*White label is a pre-designed product you can find in an OEM's catalog, they just change the labels to whatever you want. While not as unique you rarely get something bad as the bugs and suppliers have already been worked out.

The Nice60 is probably your best bet imo, or the BT60. The issue with building a nice 60% wireless build is the case. You are pretty much stuck with a tray-mount case, since most nice customs have very tight tolerances and don't have space for a battery.

BT60: https://www.upgradekeyboards.com/product/bt60-60-wireless-hotswap-tray-mount-wired-or-wireless-pcb/ (https://www.upgradekeyboards.com/product/bt60-60-wireless-hotswap-tray-mount-wired-or-wireless-pcb/)

These both run ZMK, which is a bluetooth first firmware that's still pretty new and not as full featured as QMK, but it's coming along nicely.

I have a open sourced 60% BT-board in the works, but the latest revision (older revisions don't have hot swap) is still being prototyped (and not available at vendors): https://github.com/4pplet/cyber60
