I've started playing with the idea of ordering from the Round 5a group buy for a new set to go with this. That violet and cream. It's fun using the keyboard layout editor to imagine how it will look with my preferred layout.

Feel free to share and stoke the hype  :thumb:

That the Hack'd by Geeks set? Looks good. Layout isn't too different from mine.

I'm already down for 1... but I will buy 2 if we are short just to make sure I can get one.

It will be easy as hell to sell it later anyway.

(I own an eagle and god damn the quality of the duck case is so good...)

Doesn't seem like the OP has been updated yet. I count another three people interested including me and if deci decides to order another that's four.

I hope we can hit 30 and then get the GB phase rolling. The longer this is an IC, the more likely people are to have forgotten about it or reallocated their money :( (I joined the TX1800 GB since I posted here )

I respectfully disagree, the longer we wait the more people we see who are really interested and not just jumping on the bandwagon. I've personally wanted a Lightsaver since the first time I came on geekhack and put money aside for it and all the fixings almost a year ago. This is something that its slightly less them common but doesn't come up too often. I too am in fort the TX1800 as well, but if it came down to it I'd rather we be patient and get the group together so we can be guaranteed its success.

I have a lot more projects queued up then I have time to deal with lol. I'm still at babbys first soldering stage. As far as the money goes, after I divested of my cars I had to find something, and this is a lot cheaper then they were :D

The LightSaver is easily one of my favorite customs,
it's such a unique board with close to unlimited layout options!  :thumb:

I went crazy playing around with layouts some more and its absolutely crazy
what's possible with LightSaver in terms of layout....

Really glad if it ends up being helpful/inspirational! =)

Its actually kinda hard to choose a LightSaver layout because there are just so many appealing options. xD
I'm still undecided, so I was testing what different arrow cluster locations could result in.

Its really interesting to play around with and I'm  pretty sure there are still loads of cool layouts to be discovered that I haven't seen used before...

Yeah I'm not checking the thread every day because interest slowed to a grinding halt.
We need a MINIMUM of 30 orders, ACTUALLY PAID FOR.
From IC>GB we usually lose 15% or more.
I wont be bothering to contact Duck until we're at a solid 35-40.
Though elton and Duck BOTH know of this thread, and have possibly lurked it more recently than I've updated.
The OP and our count is kind of irrelevant. It's not that I don't care, just takes a bit of energy to come do this.
I'll be coming to grab new posts and add them to the list tomorrow. Trying to do some housekeeping this morning before work.

You're welcome! You certainly deserve the credit for sharing these awesome mock up for us to visualize the potential of Lightsaver v2 with GMK HF.
I agree, that's so much potential in this kustom. You still have some time to figure out before you get your hand on this sexy keyboard.

Gosh, stop making me think of getting a Lightsaber! I need to eat!  :-X

Nice Layout and very interesting use of the blockers pr0ximity, inspired me to play around with those more as well! :thumb:
That F11 & 12 hate tho... xD

I realised that you used delete, end and page down which would usually be R2 on one of the top rows which should be R1 profile.
So if you are referring to the Triumph Adler set, those keys might have a mismatching profile I guess.

I honestly don't think it would be too bad, because the profile isn't totally off,
and it might actually create the illusion of separating the num pad area more tho.  :)

I was looking through the OP and noticed that it hadn't been updated in a while so I just wanted to express that I'm definitely still interested in this GB. When I first got into Mechs the lightsaver was the board I was most disappointed that I had missed. If we can make this thing happen there is no way that I'm going to miss this set. Count me in for a whole set in black.

At this stage, all you need to do now that you have said you are interested is to set aside some cash ready to pay once there are enough of us to convince the person making them that it's worth doing another round.

I am really contemplating in signing up for this one as well. Loved the Lightsaver at first sight. Problem is that I am an ISO guy (located in Sweden). Very unsure of the ISO possibilities on Lightsaver. I've been trying to research this but as I am very new to the mechanical keyboard game I am very uncertain. So pardon my elementary question; how are the ISO possibilities on this great custom keyboard?

Thanks in advance!

No ISO I'm afraid, but you can get a Redscarf III PCB from Taobao, which has ISO, and drop it in a LS case, which is what I'm planning to do myself.

The more people we get the better the chances will be for all of us for this dream to become reality soon! =)

Im personally a recent Iso to Ansi converter since I prefer the looks of Ansi, and it seems to make shopping for keycaps a lot simpler, and its not really that hard to convert to from a German ISO layout at least imo.

Its however an interesting point that the redscarf3 PCB would support ISO layouts, so thx for the info!  :thumb:
Is it confirmed that the redscarf mounting plate and PCB actually fir the LightSaver case? Taking a looks at the screw hole positions on both plates definitely looks like it might! xD

For reference:
LightSaver Plate
Redscarf3 Plate

Edit: Wow I just realised redscarf PCB even supports split backspace which makes it pretty attractive to me! (I honestly prefer the LightSaver case tho personally...)
Full 1u for both top rows anyone? xD

Good suggestion. Cheers! If I ditch the LightSaver PCB I will miss out on all the LED goodness.  :( (Ye ye, I'm a LED guy.)

Mmmmm. I hear you. It is just so hard to decide. If I choose to go with ANSI and not liking it... Well it will definitely hurt my wallet. Then on the other hand, I will have no problem selling the board. Argh! Why does it have to be so hard.

You definitely have a good point regarding hunting for key caps. Not converting to ANSI is more financially sound. Otherwise I would burn all my dough on key caps  :-[

Still interested in a LightSaver V2 GB but not quit ready to commit at the moment. What I've gathered the GB will not be until after this summer anyway. So I have still some time in deciding whether I should pull the trigger on an ANSI keyboard.

Iso vs Ansi wasn't an easy decision for me either, but  its true that your wallet might hate you for going Ansi as you can pretty much pull the trigger on any keyset... xD

The redscarf3 PCB (as far as it looks) will most definitely support LEDs btw so you wouldn't loose out on the in switch LEDs if you solder some in there.

It seems like it even features rgb LEDs to illuminate the acrylic bottom of the redscarf below the pcb simiular to GONs, but idk how well that may work for illuminating the acrylic side parts of the LightSaber if they will end up being available this time around. It could probably be adapted tho so no need to miss out on LEDs! =)

You can still have all the LEDs you want with RSIII though, it's got both on-board RGB LEDs and switch LEDs support. There are even two pairs of RGBs on either side that was specifically designed so that they will shine through the LED holes on the side of the LS case (haven't tried this myself, but someone asked on a Chinese forum, and the vendor confirmed that they were designed as such).

Switch LEDs can be switched on individually on RSIII as well, but AFAIK at this time it's only implemented for the caplock and numlock keys (you can choose where those keys sit, and they will switch on and off based on whether the locks are on) .

Thank you to everyone replying for me, ESPECIALLY ELTON!

As he stated, the next LS GB will happen after the Orions.

I will update the OP after lunch, I'm super hungry right now and being nagged out the door.

Start after the Orion's you say? I wasn't that excited about Orion V2 before, but now I'm unreasonably excited for that GB to start.

LSV2 is my ideal layout, and I can't wait for the GB to be started again.
