I got mine in, and I discussed it with the designer, I'm not 100% impressed either.
Pros:
- Dope ass design;
- Heavy AF, which is a plus for me, at first I planed on traveling with it, not anymore of course, but I appreciate the weight;
- Sounds really better than my previous wood case. It's way more thick than my previous case which probably explains the difference, but the sound is soooo nice (put in lubbed (3204) retooled blacks and a MX zilent on the spacebar).
Cons:
- The quality does not reflect the price of the board (see below);
- Related to the first point, the design of the weight has, IMO, not been well thought out (again, see below);
- I have a mark on the side of the board which breakwood says was done during the shipping process, but the board was well packaged and that portion of the packaging is 100% intact;
- The screw holes are not properly aligned - I am thus only using 3 screws, not well placed, so there is a gap on the left side of the board which is not present on the right side (see pictures below - it's not that big a deal, and the gap is not fully visible, but a comment on my reddit post made me look twice and notice the difference, I'll post some more pictures tonight).
As for the price not reflecting the quality; I first want to say that I joined through the Vietnamese GB, things were a little more tricky to understand back at the time (I did not know if there would really be an international GB) so, part of this is presumably my fault. I got a convex weight (a mistake IMHO), no plate to hold it in place, basic package. My most important grip with it is that there was no mark or indication to show where the feet had to go on the back of the case (I understand they don't come pre-installed) but because of that I ended-up placing them too "high" (understand too close to the top edge of the board). I screwed them in but one of the screws broke, meaning I can't take the feet off (and even if I could, that would leave a mark).
That last bit is probably my fault for tightening the screw too much, but the problem is that the absence of marking and me placing the feet too "high" is that the weight simply pops out when (the weight protrude too much and typing on the board puts too much pressure, resulting on the weight to come out of its slot). This has been solved by adding a little bumper under the brass leg to make the back higher. Again, I know it's my fault for screwing the legs in (the do give you some 3M thingies so you can paste the legs to the board - I strongly advice you use them!).
Honestly, the case is nice, really nice, and I really like it, but I'm not convinced the quality reflects the price and the multiple delays.
