I have to be honest, 120 USD seems excessive given that it's not even being run on the site that automatically adds VAT.  Is there a particular reason you decided to use that vendor for US orders?  Other Maxkeys buys are around $80, a max of $100 if they have a set of novelties.

One quick Public Announcement. You do not pay VAT if you are not in the EU. You take orders via ye_cole and the prices are different.

Will the price drop from €120 as more people order, or is that fixed? nvm, helps if I scroll to the bottom  :D

There really needs to be a link to the NA order form in the first post. As it's currently written, NA people are directed to order from CandyKeys and then in a small red link hidden on the page is the link to the NA order form. Why not just have ye_cole link the google form on the OP of this post? Seems like a more straightforward way of doing it instead of linking to CandyKeys only to be redirected a different site.

I'll be honest, I want this keyset but ye_cole's organization has made me very hesitant to place an order.

We will get it to the top. Thanks for the suggestion. IF you would like to order in the US, use this form: https://goo.gl/forms/282XqLCveJ5aLW8O2

Definitely picking up a set, love the colorway but not the price of the original set, this is the best of both worlds.

Sorry about that. I've added a NA order form to the OP. I'll be updating my reddit posts as well with the NA order form link. This is happening because I've been trying to get the order form working properly on a spreadsheet (it was OG hosted on candykeys, and couldn't easily access info from that form) so I switched to google forms instead, and haven't updated the OP's on anything I've posted yet.

With that being said, thank you for your feedback. I hope you can understand why this happened.

Edit: added order form here for anyone browsing:

You're right. I had a cost breakdown of the set that I posted on reddit earlier, I'll link it here.

Hey! Great question.
The reason the price is increased is because of 3 things:
Custom Molds
Duplicate Keys
Mold opening fees
As you can see, I have around 15-20 custom molds for them to make. Unfortunately, those really jack up the price. Also, they're charging for 7u spacebars and dupe 6u spacebars. They didn't do that when miami nights was being ordered. The tilde and esc keys also add around 1.75 dollars to the set.
Finally, they charge 6000 to start the custom mold making process. After this, you have to pay again to include the custom molds in the set. However, including the molds isn't that expensive, only around 7 dollars extra per set. The 6000 mold opening fee is, though, which is why I have so many drop points, as it is a constant fee that is being split over many orders.

TLDR: mold opening fees cost 6200 USD. this adds like 30 dollars to every set at a MOQ of 200. As you can see, I have drop points in order to compensate for this.

Thanks for the response, I apparently didn't pay enough attention and didn't realize you were doing a bunch of custom molds, which definitely explains the cost.

I actually just got the color matching done today from 2 keys of the OG calm depths.

I'll order the samples during the GB, probably next saturday or sunday.

Just a heads-up for those participating in the Asian side of things

Vietnam:

I'm working with a friend from VNMK to get all orders shipped in bulk to Vietnam, and then distributed locally. That should cut down on costs drastically.
Please hold from ordering at the moment.

Malaysia:

I'm looking to get all Malaysian orders shipped via poslaju one way or another.
Please hold from ordering at the moment.

NZ/AU:

Unfortunately given that you guys are down under I can't find cheaper shipping options then what is listed on the site, please proceed to buy :P

Rest of the Asian countries, GB is a go as usual. Please do not hesitate to contact me via PM on GH, slack, Reddit or email monokei.us (at)gmail(dot)com

Cheers and have a good one  :thumb:

Is there anyone working on the Chinese orders? Since maxkeys is in China, It's quite convenient to ship the orders from China directly.

No, sorry! I asked Maxkey if they offered drop shipping, and my answer was no. I'm not going to push it, so unfortunately Chinese orders will have to go out of China and then come back in.

Thanks

I see here

NA  = 79
Candykeys = 88

So is it safe to say only 9 orders so far outside NA during the time it was updated?

I think you're misinterpreting that.  I believe that means there are 88 EU orders placed through Candykeys, plus another 79 orders in North America placed through the Google form, for a total of 167 orders so far through those two sources of orders (plus however many have come in through Monokei for Asia).

"Update of Progress Bar can be delayed. Showing Asian + EU + US Orders (Asian Orders Updated Sep.11)"

Initially, they tried to host the ordering for North America on Candykeys, then they switched to a Google form.  I suspect the text you're looking at is an artifact of that.

Somewhat small update:

So, requested samples. They requested payment through Alipay, and I'd rather not deal with that, so I asked to pay via direct wiring. This exchange took a couple of days. They've pretty much agreed, and waiting for them to reply to my latest email. Should be able to place order for samples soon. :)

I'm talking directly to Maxkey too, and they told me that jchan indeed helped with some fixes but that most of it is their own initiative. Not to take away anything from jchan/kingnestea but people need to know that Maxkey isn't clueless or stubborn, and they want to be the best.

Indeed, they did surprise me when they told me that they are willing to do the fixes, it's just the cost because Maxkey isn't a one man business and they had different visions on that.

I'm glad that we worked something out.
Yes, they're moving quickly and it's a good thing for everybody. I know some people will stick with SP and not buy anything else, but now we actually have a serious alternative for everybody else.

Sorry for derailing the thread.

So the question is when are you putting in your GB for the new troubled minds set with this vendor ?

I have a question...

The pricing on the US Group Buy seems based on the number of units ordered in just the US.  Currently the order form shows 115 orders and a price of $123.89.  The number of orders listed in the original post is 111, so I assume these are the same figures but one is simply more current than the other.

If there are 111 or 115 US orders, I assume that the total number of orders from the US plus Asia plus Europe is much higher.  Wouldn't the discount be based on the combined total of all orders from all regions, since I assume that they all will be submitted and paid for at the same time?

I know that Massdrop Group Buys are regularly criticized, but at least you can commit when pricing reaches a certain level, and you have an accurate idea of where total orders and current pricing stands.  With this Group Buy, I don't really know any of this and, if I want to buy at a lower price than $123, have to simply order and hope that all orders are actually totaled and I'll get a lower price in the end.

I'm not trying to be critical for no reason, but would prefer that my order wasn't based on guesswork.  Not to mention that the confusion with order forms, totals, and pricing doesn't make me feel too confident overall.  Again, not being critical, just honest... and hoping for some clarity and reassurance before I order.

I think it has been mentioned before that the order count in candykeys is all of them (US+Euro+Asia). Based on the latest numbers they are displaying we are 70% till MOQ of 200 sets. Hopefully we can reach the remaining 30% in the next 10 days! With these types of buys I always go in with the assumption that I'm going to be paying the min MOQ price and any price drops are just a bonus

The multitude of pricing and order form bugs have me a little skeptical as well. If I join, it'll be at the end of the gb period so hopefully all issues are resolved at that point. I really do like the aesthetic of the set.

I would like to know the same. The numbers for the GB seem to have been really all over the place (even stretching back to the IC).
