Pizza is finally back!

We launched the Pizza Keyboards project nearly 1 year ago with a very specific roadmap in mind, and the response has been amazing.

Our first mission was to offer fast shipping times with no compromise on the product quality, and we achieved it by partnering with local suppliers. Starting from this idea we developed a simple product that aimed at pragmaticism: a seamless, minimalistic top-mount style board with a great sound profile and lot of customization possibilities, thanks to the specifically designed PizzaPCB, supporting ANSI/ISO compatibility and extra broken-out GPIO pins.

We are now ready to launch again our Pizza65, improving our solid recipe to bring it at the next quality level!

The casing is now made of an upgraded, higher quality 6082 series aluminum and then hand-finished with a new sandblasting process. We are also collaborating with a new partner for better anodization: this results in a premium, grainy looking but smooth at touch surface finish. To match this rich texture we decided to add a new sandblasted option for our brass plate (both ANSI and ISO):

And we are also introducing a new clear-anodized Silver Ash colorway to celebrate this beautiful material and the great finish we achieved: this special edition will be exclusively available with our new brass option.

Along with the new improved Pizza65 R2 we are officially launching the most requested feature since our first release, the new hot-swap Slice65 PCB!

Available in ANSI and featuring the newly released 2nd Generation Kailh Hot-Swap sockets, the Slice65 maintains and improves the features of the original PizzaPCB.

Thanks to the seamless top mount design this allows to rapidly change the visible color of the board (and naturally they are compatible with original R1 Pizzas).

Production Update

Unfortunately due to chips shortage we had significant delays with the production of the SlicePCBs and PizzaPCBs, after months of research we found the way to gather the missing parts paying more than 600% MSRP to have them delivered as fast as possible. Unfortunately thid has led to the postponement of the date for the shipment of the first batch. The PizzaPCB production has now arrived to the warehouse and the SlicePCB is currently in production and we are now preparing for the shipment of an initial batch of order that included PizzaPCBs.
We apologize for the inconvenience, future updates regarding the production will arrive soon.

A month has passed but I haven't seen any signs of this shipping, no product or shipping notices... what's up, can you give updates?

As we already stated multiple times due to the actual STM controller lack we had significant delays with the production of the hotswaps PCBs. Unfortunately the big shortage started just when we were about to send in the production and we found ourselves in a difficult situation: we had ready prototypes and parts for a PCB that was actually impossible to manufacture in the quantities we needed.
We are trying to do everything to solve the situation as soon as possible. The electronic design has been completely changed using only in-stocks parts and we are about to start the production.
In the meantime we are shipping the R2 boards with solderable PizzaPCB and we are willing to be more clear and costant in future production updates.
Founding ourselves in this previously unseen situation made us underestimate many issues that led us to accumulate a big delay, and that’s our fault.
We tried till the end to bring the Slice65 as initially designed and when we finally found all the parts we discovered that one of the secondary suppliers that sold us the controllers scammed us with used parts, unsoldered from old boards and with oxydated or broken pins, that were unusable to make the boards, and we are still waiting for a refund for this parts the we payed 600% up from retail.
Sorry to everyone that bought a Pizza65 R2.
Hope that the attention to details and love that we put in this product will compensate the long wait for it when we will finally deliver it.
We have big plans for the future: as soon as we end shipping all the Pizza65 R2 GB we will bring a totally new project and every customer that supported us in this unlucky run will be compensated

Most orders with the PizzaPCB have been shipped, we are waiting for the last small batch from our manufacturer to finish.

I appreciate the update here. An update on the website or mailing the users with a statement would be great. I think most of the people who pre-ordered can understand the issues. I read between the lines that you admit that the communication could be better. It is hard to understand when there are social media posts, but no replays on questions or at least a general announcement (not only here). Also, isn't it a part of group buys? Delays

As far as I know it is hard to get original parts, especially micro controllers. There are a lot of fakes out there, orders get canceled or as described you get crap parts. So, keep up the work! I hope it will went well and you don't make loses. I guess the time invested to get around the issues and find a solution is also priceless.

I´m still waiting for my board, and that is with the non hot-swap PCB that supposedly was going to be shipped faster. Delays due to unforeseen consequences are ok, just as long the "buyers" are kept in the loop.

With that said, I can´t wait until I get my Pizza board

We are really sorry if the feeling was we were hiding something.
We are aware that we did not post enough here on Geekhack about updates and we will start communicating more and on all our platforms.
Many orders with PizzaPCB have already been fulfilled and some customers already have built their R2, while we had some delays on order containing Silver Ash and Pearl Ruby Red boards (including silver and red top parts) due to some quality inconsistency in the anodizing, that we managed to fix. We are currently waiting for the last board to be manufactured and in the next days we will receive the final shipment, so we will have all the boards, all the plates and all the PizzaPCBs in hand, while we are currently waiting for the new components that we bought to be delivered to our PCB supplier so that we can receive the new Slice Rev 2 prototypes and start the production.

Nope, it's not. SlicePCB (Slice65) & PizzaPCB are two different products.

Just to recap the the status messages of PizzaPCB on this thread:
- December 21: preparing shipping of first batch
- End of February: starting shipping of first orders
- Beginning of March: shipping will start by the end of week
- Beginning of April: most orders shipped
- End of April: waiting for last board

End of May, still haven't seen a single board here or anywhere else...
