4. Do I still care if Half-Life 3 is coming or not?

And by inference, Half-Life 3 confirmed!!1!one!!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I definitely am on the side of having a creator, but I see no reason why in that process some evolution couldn't have happened along the way.

To me it takes more faith to believe it all just happened and this is it and one day it'll all end than to have faith in a creator.

Edit: my tapatalk keeps locking up...

I am not opposed to the belief in an architect, or creator. I think religion is silly versions of the perception of what a creator is. But I am definitely
open to the idea of something (or someone) that created the spark for the universe.

It's hard to come to grips with thinking there is nothing after you die. Nobody really can know, but I think as humans, we want to hope for an afterlife.
That all of our life experiences, or thoughts and memories don't just fizzle away.

How could you not think that a possibility? It's entirely possible. If you look at other species, when a branch-off happens, there is a version that stayed less developed, and a version that
was much more developed (neanderthal vs modern human)

That begs the question, if there is a creator, did the creator just happen by random?  That argument devolves into one of infinite recursion of what caused the causer.  In the end it all comes down to there being some unknown cause.  I suppose you could call that cause God, but attributing it to a deity requires faith and is something that can never be tested scientifically.  In the same vein, intelligent design cannot be tested.

It's this very conundrum that makes it hard for me to accept anything. Evolutionist or creationist, Big Bang or some Holy Diety, I've never been able to understand that "first cause." I love the idea of causal determinism but it always trickles down to that mysterious beginning.

I think that's part of being human and accepting what we are.  We hate uncertainty and what caused everything and what happens after we die are huge uncertainties.  Some turn to religion for answers, some to science, some accept that they will never know, some become fatalistic, and some choose to ignore it and hope.

I'm one that accepts that I will never know and turn to the knowable, science.

Sience and religion aren't contradictions to eachother though; you could be a, for example, christian and still believe in all that is science. The only difference is whether or not you believe that everything is random or if there's a "helping hand" in the whole process.

I never said they were mutually exclusive.  I was merely giving common outcomes in that search for answers.

As for not being contradictory, it depends who you talk to and how dogmatic they are.  There are those on both sides who believe they are incompatible.  The Catholic church accepts evolution, but fundamentalists wholesale reject it.

For real tho, the only thing I like about 'intelligent design' is the irony in the name.
