Title: Switch compatibility for Keychron K6
Post by: agyting on Tue, 14 July 2020, 06:42:06
Hello, I'm pretty new to this. I have a Keychron K6 keyboard (Gateron Reds) with the hotswappable option. I was wondering if the PCB was compatible for me to change it to NK Kailh Creams. I am not really sure, thank you :)

Okay, now I don't want to steer you the wrong way on this and I could be wrong, but I have seen a lot of keychrons with non Gateron switches on the mechanicalkeyboards subreddit, so I think it's compatible with most MX mount switches, so I think you're fine with the NK creams. I see a lot of Kailh switches in those.

Often, however, a Gateron board is compatible with only Gateron keys. Something about the holes, IDK. So it's an ever so slight toss up.

If it were me, I'd buy the switches.

This board uses Kailh sockets and works with pretty much all MX switches.

I believe Outemu makes a thick post hot swap switch, these should not be used, while they will work they can stretch out the sockets, but others should all be safe.
