[IC] Blue Wave 2.0.0
« on: Thu, 13 August 2015, 17:54:59 »
Hey,

I'm trying to gauge whether people would be interested in:

Kit based on SP colours and ultimately on DCS profile.

Any feedback would be great!

Across the pond is missing `~ for the number row (dark blue).

If you want DCS profile, that is a SP profile. No other company does DCS, AFAIK.

How is the TKL kit different from what's in your base kit?

I wish we could put a fringe color on keys. A blue with a red fringe like that would look too good.

he did mention it's a 60% iso first for this IC.
i'm guessing that he meant that the base kit would only consist of the 60% area.

first pic is pretty much almost the full view of what it'd looks like in tkl.

out of curiosity, why omit out the Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Pause key?

also, you might want to include in for winkeyless users as well.

So, the point of this set is to make the base kit a few dollars cheaper for the 15 or so ISO users who will order it, while alienating the VAST MAJORITY of others who will need to add the "across the pond" kit? Might as well add that kit into the base set for everyone. It's like a bait and switch...only $69 for the base set! Oh, but for 90% of you, it will cost more to get the keys you need.

+1 - really good way to make your GB fail.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

It's an attempt to do something different, which is a good thing. However I agree that it complicates things needlessly for the majority of users. Adding ANSI & ISO into the base kit is probably a good compromise.

I parsed "60%/TKL" as "Not full size" -- as in, no numpad. If the base kit is the 60% kit, that makes a little more sense. However, I don't like this format. Breaking the TKL off as its own kit makes it more expensive for TKL users, as fewer of those kits get made. This again potentially alienates a large proportion of potential buyers, for the sake of catering to a subset of a subset (60% ISO users).

OK so general feedback is:

* People don't like ISO first kits
* Missing key in ANSI kit
* Full image is confusing, this is just a representation of the full TKL kit, base was going to be 60%

I'll change it so it's ANSI first and update the main design, the labelling needs to be a lot clearer as well.

hmm, i'm merely just curious as to why you didn't want to include in Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Pause in the TKL kit?
yes i know this is represented by the 3 wave sort of icon key and i'm not saying that those 3 keys are required, but i'm just wondering what's the reason behind it.

also, like i mentioned earlier, might want to include in for winkeyless users.
2 x 1.5u ctrl and alt key (dark blue ctrl and alt + white ctrl and alt)
2 x 1u winkey or wave logo key or mixture of both (dark blue and white)
1 x 7u spacebar (light blue)

No specific reason I just liked the idea of the waves.

I'll add those to the next version of this. I'm kinda stalled on this after the negative feedback though

Looks like a fresh summer breeze!
Also how about swapping everything but the base kit to blanks? Include a y/z of the respectively other profile and we've got something ISO and ANSI user could be happy with.
Something minimalistic, to fit the summer theme! Or ... wave theme.

It's a personal preference. Some people like DCS, although most I've talked to do prefer thicker profiles (SA or Cherry).

Updated the main design to be ANSI first and full keyboard layout.

Also changed the wave to something a bit better.

In the ISO kit the shift cap should be blue as it's the left one. Overall, very nice kit.

I'm not sure what you mean, ISO left shift is 1.25 and should be blue to fit in with the style. The right shift is the same size as ANSI shift and needs to be white.

EDIT: I'm a dumbass I was looking at the mods not the ISO, will fix it now.

---

I'm going to be updating the font on all the keys to something a bit better.

I believe every keycap but the ISO enter should be deep blue, I'm not 100% sure since it's the UK layout.
