Are there good 1x/2x 27" monitor arms DESK MOUNTED?
« on: Sun, 23 April 2017, 14:34:34 »
I want to get rid of my monitor stand. It annoys me. It takes up too much space.

I've been looking into monitor stands, and I've find okay-ish stands, but nothing that I really WANT to have.

Anybody experience? I'm looking for a monitor stand that can hold 1 / 2 x 27" and does swivel, rotate, and perhaps even height?

It must be DESK MOUNTED.

One I found was the NewStar NM-D135BLACK:

no do not get this type of stand.

get 2x  single stands..

The dual stands are really hard to get your monitors lined up because the metal and plastics etc arn't very rigid.

Dual stands can work okay, just has to be a good one.

You should consider a well made arm! Worth the money. I got a Humanscale M8 for $100 several years ago and it works great. I have the crossbar dual mount version and it fits my monitors fine. I'm not sure if it can fit 2x 27" but I have a 24" and a 27" mounted and it works well, good stuff.

Thanks! But do you think this specific stand / brand is decent? Or are their better brands out there?

I have zero knowledge about these things.

Tp4 strongly Disagrees..

The fundamental problem with single pole, multimount is that the, weight, leverage, lever distance, wire torque are always different and variable between two monitors, EVEN if they're identical panels.

For example, the connecting power/ video cables will always be on either left or right of the monitor , never in the middle.  Therefore the weight and taughtness they may introduce to the stand is non-uniform..

However, the majority of multimounts have arms designed in a symmetrical pattern, despite the fact that their eventual load will NEVER be symmetrical..

THEREFORE,  to achieve perfectly matching orientations of multiple monitors, we need completely Independent rigs per monitor

Think of  it this way, if you have one pole with two off balanced loads, that pole will lean in a certain axis,  but the articulating arms may not always be able to compensate for the depth of that lean.

While if you had separate rigs entirely,  then Both monitors would have Precisely equal amounts of articulation such that however you orient one monitor you can to the other..

Whereas in a single multimount, one orientation will influence AND limit the balance of the other.

Yeah... I'll probably get two stands.

I have severe OCD and want my screens to line up PERFECLTY.

Otherwise... suicide is always on the table of course.

Thanks! Only the base on the desk is still so relatively large.. Still better than having one / two stands from the monitor itself though..
