Does DataHand require independent finger movements?
« on: Wed, 15 August 2018, 11:32:27 »
I started designing an alternative to DataHand, when I noticed that I can not move my left-ring finger independently.
Every time I try to move just my left-ring finger, my pinky moves by the same amount.
My right-ring finger I can move independently (I am right handed).

Has anyone with this affliction learned to use DataHand?
How did you do it?

So..  because alot of these muscles/ tendons are tied together..

for small independent finger movements,  essentially the middle and pinky has to _Counter Move_ to stay still..

If you learn piano, there is that Hanon music book they give to beginners for independent finger exercise..

The ring finger can not move completely independent of the pinky,  but minute counter_moves can keep the pinky functionally still while the ring finger moves.

YOU CAN PRACTICE..

Just lay your hand lightly curled on the desk..

Then focus on your ring finger..

DO NOT initiate a GRIP motion..

Attempt to move it in a small circle with the other fingers still.

Better train also independent movement of fingers to the sides (lef-right) or you will not be able to use some buttons.

Thanks.  That coutner move works a little with great difficulty.  It's going to take a lot of practice.
