TEK-80 and Jane v2

Hi, I am yuktsi, a maker/collector from the capital of Malaysia. This is a long overdue IC for the Jane v2, a TKL that I've been working on. It certainly takes time to produce and test each sample. Expensive too, I haven't been able to join any GMK's GB in a very long time.

About TGR Jane
Jane was the first board I ever created three years ago. The first Jane was this square-ish board with a tiny little brass weight inside, looks a lot like the KMAC2 because I wanted one so badly back then. I now possess all the KMACs I ever wanted, truly grateful that I am still around acquiring and producing keyboards.

Design
v2 now comes with a redesigned plate, a new set of weights and an angle of 6.969 deg. Despite all the changes, it still has the look of the classy old Korean Customs.

PCB
PCB will be using ps2avrGB firmware from Winkeyless. A small batch of PCB has already been made, I am hoping to make another revision with the ground plane removed.

Choices of color might be limited to expedite the manufacturing process. Production takes around 30-150 days.

Laser cut aluminum plate might be the only switch plate option to keep the cost low. I am hoping to get at least 50 boards from the group buy. Price per kit should be around 500$.

I agree, I had to pay a lot more than expected when I imported my shipment from Malaysia via Aramex. DHL would be a much better option.

The bigger the group buy, the worse things can get. Limiting to 50 units makes thing safer for the group buy runner, specially if things go south.

We tend to forget that running a group buy isn't easy.

Can be argued that FCFS is actually much fairer than a raffle because FCFS rewards the dedicated few that get in rather than relying on pure luck regardless of "work" put in.

No, you're definitely not the only one. I was gonna wait a bit longer after the initial hype comments about there being a new Jane to post my reply, but this seemed like a decent opportunity. I too think there is too much going on at the bottom, but my issue is with exposed screws. There's screws to hold the case together and to mount the bottom weight. I'd love it if they could design a weight where you can't see the screws mounting the bottom weight. I also think the raw brass should go with either a brushed steel or the matte coated steel and not the polished steel that can get scratched, and then maybe a moat shiny coated brass to go with the polished steel.
I also think the brass portion is just too small. The proportion of the brass with the steel around it just looks weird to me.
Of course these are just my opinions, I'm definitely interested and will be following to see how development goes.

Yeah I'm personally not a huge fan of there being a weight within a weight on the bottom but since I'm not normally going to see that part of the board, it is something that doesn't bother me nearly as much.

Yeah, I typically fall into the camp of "I don't care all that much because it's at the bottom and I don't see it", as you do. To be fair, my criticism of too many screws is kinda nitty gritty, but at 500 dollars per kit before paying for shipping, paypal fees, and although not absolutely necessary the extra accessories I will likely order (pcbs, plates), this will be one expensive board. Surprisingly I'd be okay with everything if the kit was 400 dollars, but at 500 dollars, my brown ass has to draw the line somewhere between me being okay because it's at the bottom and having higher personal expectations. Still stoked for this release though.

Check out the build log linked in the OP for a few pictures of the previous plate, and it will be pretty clear what the differences are (the mounting points and cutouts are the most obvious of them).  The old plate was a replica of the Duck Orion plate which has been used by many boards (Mech27, Mira, Jane, etc.)
