Maybe, would buy the pcb and plate, also will be good to share with plate schematic to 3d print it like a case. I have printer, so this is the cheapest way.
Might be interested in this depending on price. Love the keys on the left!Yes, price is still unknown as I'm just getting started with prototypes and those are made locally. Once I get all a working prototype and finalize case design I'll start checking around for quotes.
Dude I freaking love this! I’ve been looking for a way to optimize gaming on a 40% and I feel like this is perfect. Depending on price and timeframe I’m in. Excited for updates on this board!Happy to hear your excitement! Really brings a joy to hear people interested. Will update here as soon as I do anything post worthy!
I like this a lot. Currently on a banana split for work and there are a bunch of keys I’m not using. This layout looks well thought out, I might not even need to remapp anything!
will it be USB-C or mini USB? I hope USB-C :x
Case updateIt's a bit flat. Are there plans to add optional feet to give it an angle?
Images of the new case design. I really like this one!
Need to work on the plate a bit thoughShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/zwVF1cI.png)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/iLae8An.png)
Yes, it's flat for now. It'll definitely be with add-on feet. Angled case is harder to manufacture so for now (prototype phase) I'm designing so I can afford the prototypes.Case updateIt's a bit flat. Are there plans to add optional feet to give it an angle?

So want this what you planning the price to be so I can start saving https://geekhack.org/Smileys/solosmileys/wink.gif
Thanks awesome layout
Personally I like Hi Pro casesThanks! I'm still just prototyping so the case design isn't final but I'm all about hi pro cases. I haven't checked quotes yet (besides pcb prototypes). I would like to keep the whole project between $150-200.
Sweet jesus you're aiming right at the impulse buy price point. Gotta hope it takes a few months to drop ;DSo want this what you planning the price to be so I can start saving https://geekhack.org/Smileys/solosmileys/wink.gif

Awesome work man great layout, enervative and ergonomic just what I want!!!!! I better start saving like the price to 150-200 just below a mini van and a little above a plank Fantastic Job!
out of curiosity why not add Bluetooth?
this looks soo cute!
Right so this is a mildly dumb question but are the keys on the right hand side going to be supported on the PCB or are you thinking of changing the layout of the keyboard slightly?

Which keys on the right hand side do you mean? Keys that are on the right and that full bottom row is meant as a representation of various configurations. It's been a tough day so I just didn't understand the question, sorry. :D
Oh. Regarding the middle row, yes. Using 1.5u Ctrl & Enter means that the whole row is staggered differently. Regarding right Shift and Fn - it's either 1u+1.25u keys ( |\ and Shift) or it's 1.25u+1u keys but nothing else changes in the row.Right so this is a mildly dumb question but are the keys on the right hand side going to be supported on the PCB or are you thinking of changing the layout of the keyboard slightly?

It's not that. The alternative layout placements look like they're going to push the alphas around or aren't sized quite right . Like the control-enter row would have the rest of the keys pushed to the right slightly while the shift row looks like it's going to have a blank space somewhere.
I'm not opposed to the full bottom row but I definitely have no use for it.I personally too would only use the blocker version of this board but adding footprints on the pcb aren't that hard (I've made the decision to redo PCB once again for better routing) and case design will stay the same for either versions (angled front, flat case with screw-in feet)
I'm not in favor of it if it infringes on your original design or causes extra costs.

Are you doing to do two different plates for the middle row or one universal plate with the middle row "hollowed out"?
I don't see the reason to have a complete bottom row with the addition of the macro keys to the left. Even without them the HHKB style layout has keys for all of the bottom row functions to be mapped once.
Renders look awesome, man! Really digging this.
Would it be out of place to say that I am sexually attracted to those renders?

I only just noticed the indicator LEDs :))
So nice!

Username checks out
And I am in to say that this is dope, I know this was already menitoned but I would like to +1 some angle on the case, even if it adds some cost.
This board is too cute! I Filled out the IC - I'd love to test a prototype! Playin with firmware is totally my thing.
Looking forward to seeing this project come to life! Filled out the IC <3
I wanted to say a big thank you all for the IC form responses and comments here as it is really motivating me to find time and work on this project more.
A bit of feedback about the process right now:
I see that there's majority of people (39.5%) that want hot-swappable sockets (as do I) but do to various layouts and my not so big knowledge in pcbs I don't think I can support Kailh sockets. Sorry about this but I'll look into Holtite sockets and the sizings to support those as it wouldn't overcomplicate PCB design.
Regarding switch LEDs (25.6%) and RGB underglow (32.6%) - I'm actively working on implementing both of these features as it's probably easier for me to support this from the get-go. About the RGB underglow and case - Bottom part of the case is slightly "lifting" the top part of the case so there'll be about 1 or 2mm spacing that'll allow for a nice RGB underglow "rim" under the board.
Also as for ALPS support - I'm using ai03 KiCad library for switch footprints and those footprints are "hybrids" as in - they support both MX and ALPS switches.
More about possible layouts that some people are mentioning in my IC responses - I truly appreciate your feedback but the layout is 100% decided on right now. Any keys that doesn't "overlay" the existing layout isn't really possible as that would mean designing a specific case for it. I will keep these IC responses for next rounds though if the GB goes well and will take your feedback into account.
Seeing that the interest on this is quite active (almost 5-6 responses each day) I'm also actively searching info about manufacturing side of things as the amount of interest is no longer just "a small batch for friends". All though I see you all as my friends :-*

Nice update!Hey. Awesome that you're already figuring out your own key mapping! Mmm, it's a bit wrong but it means I must add a normal KLE image with key sizes. EDIT: Added in OP under "Idea" section
I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind clarifying something, is this layout correct keys-wise? http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/1f8bf8115cedf52c677acf6866fe6e34
Been fiddling with different ones while at work so pls don't judge me too much on this ;)

Hey everybody yet again!
I've been working hard this weekend but I wanted to say that I've decided to redo the case model from scratch.
A lot of work has gone into PCB to get it as good as I possibly can make it but I did the case design after PCB v1 (before I even started this IC) and before v2 (now). As the IC has really made me see the potential of this project and with all the high quality boards coming out nowadays I see that I need to make the best product I possibly can. That means going in deep and working on every aspect of the product and thoroughly examining the details and not cutting corners. I truly believe that no one wants a half-baked keyboard especially one that's a layout of it's own.
Regarding the design seen in renders - most of it is going to stay, at least the visible side of things. Front will have the angled lip and corners will be more rounded than in the back. Things I'll try to change is the height of the overall board and bezels. I'm also thinking about the dilemma of going with a flat or an angled bottom.
With a really busy schedule for the next two weeks I can't say when I'll be done with all of this. I'll be ordering a small batch of PCBs for testing purposes this week so hopefully I'll have something to show you all next week.
It's late and I'm super tired so have sorry if there's any typos. Hope you all understand and aren't mad about any of this info.
Sincerely,
Emils

I’m digging this layout especially with the QMK support and macros on the left. I will look into it if the price is reasonable. Good luck! :thumb:

I appreciate the response and yeah I seen the estimated price earlier in the thread, but I think that Input Club's Kira was originally expected to be under $200 for the aluminum build and yet it was going for $260 during the GB. I just hope that the price won't increase dramatically without additional features like hot swappable pcb or something.
Hot swappable isn't going to happen. Multiple layout configurations doesn't really allow Kailh sockets and I read a bit more about Holtites (mainly a discussion on TGR-910CE) and it's not worth it, sounds like it has far more cons than pros.
Pcbs will feature RGBs for underglow and switch LEDs though, also the indicator LEDs so I've covered all bases.
Talking about the case and plate, it'll have couple of options so they're will be multiple pricings...

What kind of options funder do you mean mostly material choices? (brass vs aluminum)
Is there a plan for there to be a diffuser in this? I don't see it in any of the renders
Finally found the time and chance (there's usually some other long-ass print going on) to start printing the new case. Should be done and in my hands tomorrow evening! :)MoreShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/85Yd5mj.jpg)
Looks amazing! Going to be the ultimate travel board.Hopefully it'll make a great travel board! The slight angle doesn't make it too hefty on the back but angled case actually allows to make the front thinner.
Wow that looks awesome! Are you happy with the prototype? Does this mean GB is coming soonish? :)Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the current design. Still need to screw everything together but it'll definitely be the first working prototype board when I get the pcbs and solder components. About the GB - I'll try and get this proto done asap and even before that try and order a prototype from the factory. Don't want to run a GB without knowing the manufacture quality. I'd estimate that GB will be first part of June if all goes well.
I'm loving that size and design! great progressThank you! I'm truly happy with the progress and can't wait to make it available for you guys!
These pictures are great! The case is looking awesome and I am far too excited about this little board. That's nice to hear! I'll do my best so I don't let you down! :)
Prototype looks awesome :) keep up the great work! Thanks! Already doing so, everything is in process.
omg the prototype looks so good!!Well, I gotta be frank... I don't own a lot of keyboard stuff right now, all I got is a bunch of MX switches, a single artisan and some really bad MX keycaps from donor boards I got for free to salvage previously mentioned switches. Entered JTK Raindrop GB though so hopefully that goes without any issues. :D What I wanted to say - there won't be any pictures with caps until I get a keyset. Will try my best to figure this out though. :D Really feel bad about it as pcbs should be here any day now...
really excited to see it with some caps on there
Aw dang! If I was US based I'd happily send some spare test switches/caps. Still excited, but I'll have to be patient :thumb:
Hey I was scrolling some pages back to see what the price range would be. I think you said $200 but I was wondering if that is an estimate for full aluminum or full polycarb. I'm basically wondering if there will be a lower price point for all the polycarb if we choose that option. ^^

Hey Kellybear! :)
Yeah, pricing is still being calculated as I'm just way over my head with personal stuff but by the quotes I got from the factory, polycarb base is about ~40% cheaper than it's aluminium analogue. It's not the same for the plate though so don't go thinking full polycarb case will be 40% than a full aluminium. But a full polycarb case will definitely be with a lower price point than alu one. I'll allow to mix&match materials so if you feel a need to get a polycarbonate case but also a alu top, it'll be possible. :)
The stuff I need to still calculate is customs and shipping for all the boards to me and that's what is holding me back to finalize the pricing. I'm extremely sorry about this... :-[

Hi hi hi! Thank you for the quick response. I'm looking forward to the price drops for everything. What types of materials will be available for the plate? Thanks so much for all the work you're doing!!

Mmm, the quotes I've got has been for aluminum and polycarbonate but stainless steel and brass is questionable as SS was head to head with aluminum in the the Google form I did earlier. It all comes down to MOQ and demand really.

Wow I had no idea polycarb would be an option I forgot about that. I think a full polycarb version of this would be awesome I'd probably do that at a lower price.Machined poly-carb isn't much cheaper from what I've seen from other group buys.

Well I guess I can't read. Some of those other buys must have massive profit margins then. That's from the man himself. Seems like base is about 40% cheaper while plates similar. Overall should come out a little cheaper.

I did say that the quote for base is ~40% cheaper and the price point should be lower for an all polycarbonate board but I wouldn't say that it'll be a massive (for example $100) price difference between all polycarb and all aluminium. Plates doesn't have that big of a difference and I don't have a quote for a polycarbonate top.
GB pricing is still a mystery and not final so it's hard to say at this time. Customs and shipping is what I still need to figure out as shipping costs can't be calculated before I've not ordered anything, also I don't know how it is when you something that big (size and quantity wise). Customs are a bit easier but still depends on final sum and the people involved. I'll do my best to get a bit more concrete data by the end of next week.
Sincerely, Emils

You're not much into soldering?
Well, it's a trade you gotta learn someday if you want a custom. Now there's more and more hotswap PCBs but soldering switches isn't rocket science. Unfortunately I can't support hotswap sockets in round 1. Maybe later I can make a "no compromise" single layout PCB with Kailh sockets...i really love this

A lot of people are afraid of ruining their PCB when soldering.
That PCB!
- Handsome routing
- Alps support
- Breakout pins
I'm really excited for this little thing.
I really like this, very unique!
Just one matter of doubt though, is that a 2u left shift? Since that really screwed keycap compatibility :P

No, it's 2.25u. That'd be evil of me. :D Check "Idea" section in OP, there's a image of the layout with key sizes.
That PCB!I thought I saw a line of them on the left. I realize now those are for the indicator LEDs.

Mmm, which breakout pins do you mean? There's no breakout pins on those proto pcbs.

Haha, I can say the same thing about DSA Milkshake! :D I think that TMO-50 and DSA Milkshake is a perfect match for cuteness!
I do not how I had missed this until today. The layout is just what I may want to go the under sixty route. I did not participate in the original poll, but I strongly prefer the original design with blockers. But, it is understandable that some need the full bottom row, considering that this keyboard is small. Goodspeed.Haha. Good to hear!Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/DJVfrT1.gif)

I thought the same lmao. I need to see a render with that combo! (fruits on the left would look cool af)
Option for full bottom row please? :D

Looks very nice. I will keep an eye on this.
Wishing for: angled, high profile and full bottom row.
Angled - yes
High profile - absolutely
Full bottom row - not in round one
Thank you, definitely do! :)
I love this board and I think this will very well be my first <60%!
How much extra room do you anticipate inside the case? If I wanted to make my own PCB in the future, for example, would there be any room for a battery, you reckon? Lithium ion, cell battery perhaps?
Definitely going to get in on this one!
I really appreciate the designer's intention to allow the use of standard sets with the TMO-50's layout. That makes this a great option to encourage more people to make the transition to under sixty keyboards.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/doa25zT.png)
Very intrigued by this. Looks amazing and would likely make me take the leap to downsize from 60%.
UPDATE
I changed the exploded view in OP so check that out for bit more details of each part. Also let me know if you like that case color!
Thanks for the info, will keep that in mind. Just experimenting with some colours.UPDATE

The beige render's color is my preferred one.
Are the leds going to be programable? They would be very useful as layers indicators.
Sorry but why? Don't want to come of as rude but even though I value OS projects, TMO50 isn't one of them. As it's a custom layout with everything done by scratch I don't feel comfortable with sharing these files. Especially before a GB that's on its way.Hey funderburker

I‘m incredibly sorry if this question came across rude and made it seem as if I didn‘t want to support you and your design. To clarify: If the situation (money etc.) is right when the GB is running, I will totally join in!
The question came up in a discussion with a friend when talking about what kind of projects with customized keyboards would be cool (an the fact that his school seems to have, for lack of a better word, a „machine“ with which you can theoretically assemble and produce PCBs). I posted it without thinking twice about it being inappropriate when the GB didn‘t even run yet.
I know that some people in the community have a weird entitlement attitude and I myself find it often annoying. Even though I acted the same with my question, I want you to know that it was not my intention and I really appreciate the time and work you put into this awesome design!
Cheers!

------------------------- Upcoming layout:
An OG XT and DE alphas combo on the TMO50 layout. The top row is R1, because the letters can easily be typed on by touch; while the symbols are not that easy. The DE set has three symbols per key, making it more efficient for this small footprint. What do you think?Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/GcSOqns.jpg)

I think the upcoming GMK Space Cadet is a great pair with this board, how about you all?
No redundant symbols this time. It includes mostly OG DE DS plus 7 ANSI keys, only. I just realized that the DE's symbol pairs are totally logic:You have the stagger for rows 2 and 3 swapped. It's a 0.25u stagger for r2 and a 0.5 stagger for r3, like on a normal layout.

Waduheck. This layout is a dream, even for 40 users. *Replace a keyboard in want list with TMO50*
BIG UPDATEI would love to see a military green/ olive.
LOGO
So TMO50 has finally got a logo. I really like it and think it's simple, clean and has a "flow" to it. Also it'll look pretty good in stickers form (yes, they'll be available with ALL GB orders)MoreShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/dR6gted.png)
Samples
It's been kept on the down-low for a while now but I've been chatting with a group of testers and we've organized a small batch of case/plate samples from the factory I'm planning to use. The production process is starting tomorrow and around three weeks. Once testers receive their keyboards and do some testing (quality control etc.) I'm making a GB thread with all the details. So that means GB could start beginning of July unfortunately instead of mid June. :-[
Case colours
For now I've decided to go for 4 colours. These 4 are FINAL. Maybe 5. What do you guys think of military/olive green? :pAlso I have a question related to plate colours. I had an idea about doing darker/lighter plate colour than the case but not doing the same colour for both parts. What do you guys think?

Heck yeah that pink RULES. I like the idea of a lighter colour for the plate, that vibrant pink with a more pastel/pale pink plate would be cute as hell - likewise for the blue.
love the progress!
this keyboard would be coming to work with me occasionally so I can't do blue or pink. I was hoping for something like the render. Military/Olive Green would also work, so I hope that is an option. Of course gray is fine but I have a few other gray keyboards so that's out (my issue, not yours of course!). can't wait for the GB!
At first I was into the render board also and I still am but unfortunately white and really light colours are hard to do with anodization and the factory only offers anodization. MAO would allow doing white boards but that's not an option right now. :(
I'm not complaining.. the layout is by far the biggest selling point for me. that said, I have a little buyers remorse for not grabbing the M60 in sage green so this could be my redemption. Whatever you decide is going to be awesome though... it's your baby! What would look good with DSA Milkshake? silver or gray then?

If green gets enough traction it's in. Basically I'm willing to do 5 colours max but 4 colours are certainly going to happen. Speaking of DSA Milkshake, it's hard to say.

I think the silver would look better with milkshake, it's less of a contrast between the keyset's pastely colours

Love it and will definitely be buying one or two! I also would like to put my vote in for the military green/olive green. If you can get it close to the Sage green of the recent M60-A that would be a plus.Would like it as well to be close to the sage green :p
So excited for this. Count me in for a green one also!
I agree with previous comments that the M60 sage green is a great colour -- something a little darker and more muted. Maybe something like 350C (https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/350-C) or 2266C (https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/2266-C)?
Love the discussion about colours!

Due to some discussion with testers and knowing that a pink option is trending right now but maybe not for everyone I better let you decide!
Personally I'm not really a big fan of purple myself but I'm all for getting quantity per colour up as doing a single pink board in a 50 board batch is well - dumb. If the board isn't for me of course! :D
Why? It's just colours. You like one, you choose it. BTW, I messed previously so first 11 responses are faulty. It should've been 1. Purple vs. Pink, 2. Purple options, 3. Pink options, 4. Green options but it jumped over pink options all together. :(Love the discussion about colours!

Oh man, picking a green is super hard.Yup, it's more of a tone of equally nice greens. :D
Really into all of the softer options, definitely more so than the bright coloured ones.
Purple still sux tho ;)
There's not going to be a white option like in the render? It looks super good. That said, the color choices in the survey were nice. I preferred the more muted colors as well.

How about blackI want to offer different colour options and so dark gray and black are quite similar in it's core. As 5 colours would be the max, I'd much prefer to keep "default" colours to a minimum.

So that’s silver, dark grey, raindrop blue, purple haze, and subtle sage? Sounds like a nice selection :3Yes, that is correct
I can't believe everyone would betray me like this and not vote for the exact colours I wanted
This is gonna be a tough decision...
why you guys want purple haze? That's basically the same color as the purple kbdfans 5 degree case.
That Subtle Sage is so nice...9009 obviously.
What would I put it with though....mhmm
Or gmk malachite if the GB goes through. Now that would be one hell of an obscenely green board.... I think I might just do this instead of sticking with boring silver hahahaThat Subtle Sage is so nice...9009 obviously.

Maybe people like the color but not the kbdfans case? I don’t see why they would have to stick to the kbdfans board just because that one is the same purple as the one that was chosen.
Cerakoting seems to be very popular within the gun collector community, and because I'm Canadian, I'm not an expert on it by any means. With that being said, I don't see a reason as to why you'd have to stick with a silver anodized case if you plan to cerakote in the future. They either have to strip the anodization first before they cerakote or they can just cerakote right over it. Not sure which is correct, but either way, I don't think there would be a reason to limit yourself to a silver case, unless of course, that is the anodization color you wanted in the first place.Awesome quick summary of different surface treatmentsSo that’s silver, dark grey, raindrop blue, purple haze, and subtle sage? First of thank you for your opinion, no sarcasm. I'm sorry that the purple you voted for isn't the one that made the cut. I gotta say that my chosen Pantone C codes are not inspired by other boards as I don't really give a damn about purple. i just thought of a cool name for purple, google'd that ****, color-picked it from a photo, put that into a Hex to Pantone tool and then found one Pantone colour I liked. Also "Purple Haze" was the most voted for by far so I have to appreciate everyone's vote. If it was up to me (well, it is) I'd match rather do pink but that's not how polls work.
Also - who gives a damn that it's a colour of another board. It's coincidence. Now that I checked, the dark gray is EXACTLY the same that Xondat uses for his 280/220 cases. And that too is purely a coincidence. Like for real.
No hurt feelings whatsoever :) I share your feelings regarding pink as well, and just picked a purple color I liked which I felt wasn't already in the market. At the end of the day it wouldn't make a difference for me one way or another which purple is picked as that won't be the color I'll be choosing, I just wanted to contribute to the poll. Sorry if my post was misinterpreted, and the recounting ballets thing was, or at least I hoped, taken with a grain of salt. The majority has spoken, and I'm glad most people will be happy with the pantones chosen, and to those that aren't then I can only say that is how polls go.
Any updates on whether we will have the option to purchase plates of a different color than our chosen case color or alternatively whether an option will be available to purchase additional plates of a different color?
Purple Haze, Subtle Sage, Dark Gary, Silver and what other color would be included?
I suggest to include pantone images to the OP to inform interested parties on the final colors chosen, with no need to dig deep in the thread.
I'm liking the additional parts method as it shouldn't affect MOQ concerns and allows for buyers to have a matching as well as a contrasting plate if they'd like. I'll leave the logistics and decision making up to you, I'm happy regardless of what you decide as long as these cases get produced!
I take everything with a grain of salt and nothing seriously here so I'm cool with you mate!
If we're talking about options and their colours... Case and plates are gonna be an individual choice BUT my previously mentioned idea about doing one palette for case and one for plates are still a question I have to answer myself. There's probably some people that want case and plate to match but others that would like to see case and plate in similar but contrasting colours. Also doing 5 + 5 colours is a strain on the factory and that'll take longer for them to manufacture (I presume seeing what they said about testers batch). And 5 + 5 is harder to get MOQ as I'd like to have even-ish colour distribution in this GB.
Talking additional parts and their colours... Yeah, there'll also be a chance to order more than one of everything but I'd like to limit it to something like two parts per item per person. There'll be various material options so I don't want to limit people choosing just one of those. Still figuring out best practice though.
P.S. I'd have to update my OP with a more up-to-date info, right?
I have said case in said color. My comment is more on the fact that I don't feel it looks all that great IRL. It come off as almost a pseudo pink. I feel if something is gonna be purple it needs to be PURPLE. 🤷why you guys want purple haze? That's basically the same color as the purple kbdfans 5 degree case.
I picked vibrant purple for that reason. Tell me you picked vibrant purple too ;)
Time to count those ballets again! ;)
Maybe people like the color but not the kbdfans case? I don’t see why they would have to stick to the kbdfans board just because that one is the same purple as the one that was chosen.

I think a purple like on gmk muted, a sort of dulled pastel purple would be nice.I’d rather get a purple to match currents sets like Violet Tendencies, Hyperfuse, Phantom, etc.
Whoops the time flew by and I forgot to check this thread and missed the poll :(agreed :D
I like the tone of the green a lot but I wish it were just a bit darker -- dunno how the anodization will make it look in the end though.
Also I think the green case would look excellent with a brass plate.... hint hint :D

Brass plates always sell really well when offered. Definitely an option that should be included.

+1 on the brass plate, I think I'd be real into the silver case + brass plate if it was going ;)

Sorry guys, it's exam time and have to juggle that and 100h freelance job. I'll get down to updating OP with the relevant and correct info this weekend, hopefully.

Apologies if this has been posted earlier, but do we know when gb is likely to take place
While OP is busy with exams (good luck dude!), I'm wondering if anyone here has tried a none standard staggered board (ie. Something similar to the "small" stagger of the middle row for the TMO50)? I believe a 2u left shift gives a similar stagger for the third row? I dunno.
Anyways, the actual question, for those of you that have tried it, did you find the slight difference in stagger to affect your typing accuracy? Was it easy to get used to? Can you go back and forth between normal and small stagger without a problem?

My partner and I use the HHKB JP Edition which also has a smaller stagger as well. For me, I am more comfortable with the normal stagger but he likes the smaller stagger because he has less inaccuracies when typing letters between the home row and row below it. I believe he feels he is more accurate in typing because of that small stagger because he’s more heavy handed with his right hand when it comes to typing and the distance is more helpful to him. I haven’t found any issue with switching between the staggers and neither hasn’t my partner. It takes the same amount of time to adjust between the smaller stagger board and another board as it would with boards that have the same stagger. I think when it comes down to it, it’s how you type and how comfortable you feel with the position of the keys. I plan to keep my board at a normal stagger but my partner will be doing the small stagger for himself.
Edit: typos because mobile yay

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I'm thinking the small stagger may improve my innacuraccies when typing zxcv on the bottom row, and for whatever reason, I completely forgot that the middle row for the plate is universal so I can try both to see what I like :)
Glad to hear that the adjustment between different staggered boards isn't all that bad. You should see me after I go from typing Ortho to stagger, spelling mistakes increase exponentially.

I hope the stagger works out for you! I'll let you know how it goes on my partner's board as well when he uses it. He always makes mistakes when he goes between the home row and the bottom row. The biggest issue for him is hitting N and M with his pointer finger. He said he has a better time typing it when he's using the HHKB JP.
Noooo, switching between ortholinear and stagger sounds awful. I always considered getting an ortholinear board but I don't think I want to relearn how to type with it lol ><.

Not to derail this thread from the board at hand too far but I have been able personally to easily switch back and forth between ortho and staggered with relative ease. Takes about 10-15 minutes before i'm full speed again. Though it might be important to note I type "correctly" with all the right fingersh itting the right keys so it's not that big of a difference.
I get that I only was referring to discussing switching back and forth between Ortho and staggered.
On topic, I have tried typing on off staggered boards before and I did not like it at all personally. Especially since with a board like this I'm going to be using it on the go/semi regularly so I want to have the stagger the exact same as a typical board. I would prefer off profile keycaps over an unusual stagger. But that's just me of course.

I definitely prefer off profile keycaps as well. It's comforting to know that you can switch between ortho and staggered so easily. Maybe that will convince me to try an ortho board in the future! I'm definitely happy about the ability to choose between doing the small stagger or regular stagger.
Does anyone have picture of the color options that were in the poll? I missed it :( But overall something that I'd be very interested in. Any possibility of an acrylic bottom? I'm a sucker for underglow.

There will be a polycarbonate which allows for underglow!

Astrasa, nice to see you're interested. I'm about to update OP in the next couple of hours with all the newest and correct info about what colours, materials and part options will be available. There's no colour option pictures yet but I've ordered the factory to make anodized samples so I can share those with you all. :)
And yes - polycarbonate will be an option for the bottoms.
UPDATED OP WITH CORRECT AND CURRENT INFO ABOUT THE GB.
Active thread members - please let me know if you see something that's been talked about and CONFIRMED by me but I've missed it. Think OP is complete though.
Quick question, was looking at the exploded view of the case and was wondering if the case actually explodes?
What plate material would be more comfortable to type on, at this size? I have one keyboard with Al plate which feel to stiff for my taste and one with acrylic plate that feels pretty nice. What do you recommend?

I don't have anything constructive per se to make deciding which plate to choose any easier for you. I do however want to chime in and give my 2 cents. While I am relatively new to the MK community (<1 year), I think this is the first time I've seen a plate with a whole row being universal and hence just being one giant cut out. Tbh, I am a little hesitant as to how this will feel, but I an definitely curious and optimistic towards it. In regards to plate material, I've heard people say brass is soft, some say hard, and others say the exact same thing about alu and SS. At the end of the day everyone's definition of hard/soft/mushy is going to be slightly different, and other factors such as switches and how hard handed they are when typing also likely influence how the plate feels to them. I really wouldn't mind the option of being able to purchase all 3 of the plates just to experiment and see which one I like better assuming that it doesn't become extremely cost prohibitive for me for this kit. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to see the pricing of everything and being able to hopefully try all 3 plates!

Yeah, keep it away from open flame!
Since you can mix and match top / bottom / plate, I assume the pieces are easily separable (if that's what you actually meant?)
Because that makes it HHKB-esque. 🤷Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/bi3rLlK.png)
Forgot if I asked before :-[ but is there a reason that the bottom row is asymmetric? The blocker on the left is 1.5u while the blocker on the right seems 2.5u.
Other than this, if the bezels are more 'robust' this would look kickass!
Why it's not symmetric? Well, while designing the layout I checked where my thumbs are located and so my left thumb is just under "V" and my right (which isn't used unless I type on a 40%) is located in between but slightly to the right under "N" and "M" keys. So if I shift the bottom row and make it symmetrical, it's just not comfortable for me anymore.

Just wanted to highlight the reason I am so excited for this this has been exactly what I've experienced with keyboards as well.

Okay y'all help me choose. Which colour do you reckon would go best with enjoypbt valentine and stuff?
At the moment I'm thinking just silver because it's gonna go with everything, but I really can't decide.

I really, really want a small run of GMK9009 for this board as rendered by PyroL. It looks really slick.
The importance of a plate has been overhyped and therefore exagerated. A simple basic PCB is more than satisfactory as a support for typing, mechanically-wise. There is no engineering reason to use a superstrong material for a keyboard plate, while the load it should be stand against to is as low as fingers typing. Plastics are widely used in automotive and aerospace applications even in mechanically demanding applications, that it is hilarious to be concern by an acrylic plate in such small device that will be holded by an strong aluminum frame. :thumb:

While it may be unnecessary, there is definitely IMO different feel to typing on a plate vs typing on a PCB, especially if the plate is built into the case.

Of course, there is a difference with-vs-no-plate boards. However, plate materials make no difference when it is top mounted in a rigid aluminum frame, like the TMO.

They make a massive difference. Steel, Carbon Fiber, Aluminum, Brass, and Polycarbonate all have different feelings.

Wanted to update everyone with some real evidence that something's happening! :D
These are the sample or prototype (actually Founders Edition) TMO50's that are currently produced in China. Should have some more updates in next couple of weeks and then finished boards in July. If all is well, GB will start as soon as Founders do quality control and approve. :)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/1EO5xM9.jpg)

Awesome news!
Maybe I've missed it, but do you have any idea what the price would be approximately?
This is the first GB i have seriously considered entering, i just like the look of it and its almost a meme in design, but the best designed meme i have seen and i like it a lot. It's been a while since I've received both a compliment and a diss at the same time. :D It's an honour to be your cherry popper, mate!

Yay, thanks for more progress shots! Looks great.Well, it'll be done once these get anodized. Samples are different from these boards though so proto boards are gonna one-offs.
Any idea at what point we might see anodization samples for the different colour choices?

Based on the previous stuff in the thread, i think founders units have already been allocated to some testers based on the original IC form stuff, sadly :( I'd have loved to get in on one otherwise
Sad to hear. As someone who’s never used a 40% and can’t imagine living without numbers I would be a perfect testerYes, I've already chosen founders aka testers for these prototype boards. Some were RNGed and some was close friends that were eager to help out with manufacturing costs. This has allowed me to make every option at least in one piece so to check. I'm sorry if someone's left out. But I guarantee that GB isn't a raffle. And also not really a FCFS thing. It'll be limited but I don't think this board will "fly off the shelf" that quick.

How LED's light bleeding will be prevented?
I just had a tiny freak out this morning - Is this project going to be a raffle? or will everyone who wants one be able to join?
This is the first GB i have seriously considered entering, i just like the look of it and its almost a meme in design, but the best designed meme i have seen and i like it a lot. It's been a while since I've received both a compliment and a diss at the same time. :D It's an honour to be your cherry popper, mate!
is an insult in disguise a compliment?
Is the plate design already final? Or are you considering separate plate design for those who want a fixed home row layout?
Overall, I think it is quite interesting, specially the layout.
I have never thought I'd be interested with anything smaller than 60% but here I am waiting for the GB. XD
50% is really an interesting choice. I tried playing around with this layout in KLE and have made a few variations that I really like. Maybe we'll get a 50% uprising someday. Haha :))
Sorry if I missed it, but how tall is this compared to the Pearl?I can't answer that unfortunately. I tried looking up Pearl's dimensions but couldn't find it. Width wise this is definitely wider. Height wise I'm pretty certain TMO is lower but again I don't really know. Some testers have a Pearl too so will ask for comparison pics.
So when do I get to throw my money at you? Also a second plea for someone to co-launch the keyset shows in PyroL's render! With epbt 9009 base colors coming out so well, it shouldn't be that hard to organize a comparatively less expensive GB using epbt vs gmk blanks.

You could provide dimensions for the TMO and let the people do their own homework. Doing it for them is just an uneccesary burden that there is no reason for you to be loaded with.

This is fine by me. I only ask because the Pearl is kinda tall and chunky looking. Looking back at the prototype photos this is probably quite a bit slimmer. Actual measurements would be nice though.
Wow, this looks amazing! I'm gonna have a hard time deciding between KUMO and this. It's gonna come down to release date and pricing (though perhaps I'll buy both anyway).
I'm looking forward to seeing the completed prototypes!
i would buy this case imidialy if it was for a split kekyboard and would have a wrist rest
Yes, I would agree that that sounds like a different board. :Di would buy this case imidialy if it was for a split kekyboard and would have a wrist rest

If someone's not in the loop -Sorry funder, I dont want to go too off topic from the tmo50, but I thought zeal bought GH?
GH HAS BEEN SOLD
I'm trying to see where this goes as it sure as hell is not something nice. What are you guys thinking of doing with this - where you'd go? I'd like to have a small discussion for this as I'd like to keep an update on this and already find a "plan B" for this IC. I'm fine with posting on reddit (as I should and will do with GB) but it's really a place with a short life span for posts. I truly enjoy the GH community and people that are here and also everywhere else in this forum.

Loving the look of that red PCB. Can't wait for the next update!Well, I don't think I'll offer this option as GB will have a proxy for US so offering this means putting strain on my proxy. But there's a lot of community members that offer keyboard assembling. I have not checked pricings though. Where are you located?
Would you consider offering a fully built option (switches/LEDs soldered in) for the GB?
I'd love to get myself a TMO50, though I'm not confident I'll be able to build one myself (never soldered before, don't want to screw it up).
I don't want to get KUMO over this just because it has hot-swap sockets.

Learn to solder! The level of skill you need to solder a keyboard from a kit is not super high and if it's for personal use then tbh you don't need to worry about how neat it is as long as it works.
I'd suggest getting like a little macropad kit or something cheap to practice on and learn! It's a super useful skill to have.

A macropad, I'll definitely keep that in mind! Soldering a board is probably way less intimidating than I am assuming, so something small to try it out on might dissolve my anxiety. Thanks!

Since the founders PCB is red what color is the general GB's PCB going to be?Well, red is definitely one of the nicest colours so it's probably gonna stay for the GB too. :)
Sounds like Massdrop (now officially the buyer) will keep things like they are now and not change things for a while so we should be good.
It seems that the GB for our beloved TMO50 can be hosted at GH, with no forseable risks.Yes, long live MDxGH. Nice to see our life's spared for now. :D
How about Asia? :)
Just wondering if the beginning to mid July GB date is still the plan?
Interested in a PC top. Is it going to be a GB's option?
Interested in a PC top. Is it going to be a GB's option?
The factory was really reluctant to make the PC top due to fears of warping during machining. Some of the people in the founders edition bought one anyway just to see how it would turn out. I wouldn't bet on hem being available for the general GB though.

Yeah, we'll have to see how the poly tops come out and everything but it's more an experiment right now so I don't guarantee it being a GB option.
Depending on price I might need to pick two of these up if possible, but that sage colour is calling to me.

+1, I may need two as well. My daily drivers are two now. One at home. One at the office. I should have the same with the TMO, if I want to master the new layout. Therfore, I am hoping for this to be affordable, enough to be able to get two.
I thought I would be the only one getting 2 haha.
The OP may consider a discount for orders of two or more. :pShow Image(https://i.imgur.com/nyhUQcR.jpg)
Yeah I also need two for the same purpose, need those silent switches at the office.

Poly bottoms WILL be available 100%. Poly tops probably not as it's done more as an sample run. We'll have to see...
I think this’ll be my first high end 40% board. Renders and photos look great!
Edit: Did you offer the founders boards to the public and I just missed it? How’d that work?

In the early stages of IC I had a form up for collecting info about what features, materials and colours people would like to be see. I also included a part for "tinkerers" that would be fine with testing this board out as in the beginning I thought this would be a more "amateur" project and will I'll have a bunch of prototypes to offer to people varying in random 3d printed cases and some ****ty pcbs.
After the IC got traction I had enough applications and I did a bit of RNG magic and people research and found a test or a founder group that were active in the community and the IC as well just had the replies in the form I found suiting for a "tinkerer". It was low key and people were notified personally. We've been working on this since about start of May I think to get all the details down, talk over design choices and refined everything. Also just the manufacturing took way longer than expected (order made in end of May with a "due date" on 20th-ish of June).
So it was public in the sense all founders are people that were selected and not just friends. Now I would like to say I see these people as close online friends and they've been very involved in this project becoming a reality thus far.

Hi. You should be OK. Only †he "founders" have the keyboards so far.No, even founders doesn't have the boards yet. The boards are manufactured but still in the factory. Please don't misinform people. :D
The Group Buy has not started yet. Keep watching. :)
lying on a beach checking this thread for updates and seeing those case parts is so cool!! Very very exciteddd
Hope the GB isn't too limited, and if it is pls give a little notice so we can prepare to try and snag one :p
Sorry!
Watching this with great interest. :)
Very neat little board. If the price ends up in the budget realm I'm in

Well, given the manufacturing had it's delays (mostly due to long waiting line) I presume August. I know I know, I promised June at first then July and now August. But they're packing up everything as we speak so it should be with my US proxy late next week or early first week of August. After some community quality checks and some more research to find a good PCB fab shop I'll have figured out pricing with packaging and pcbs included.
It's close guys

For a classic beige set you definitely can't go wrong with a silver top. But if it's something like beige with 9009 accents, the green should look real nice also. :)

The purple is nice but I *just* bought into the new Rev Preonic with it's new purple colorway. For the TMO50 I'm thinking of going classic White.Actually, according to the OP, that „white“ in the color sample picture is silver.
I'll have more colour correct photos in couple of days. And yes, that's silver. Forgot to mention - if anyone's going to Seattle's meetup this weekend, there's gonna be some of the cases/plates there. Unfortunately no finished builds yet but you'll have chance to see the unique colours!
What is the meaning of this: "dibinātāju aizdevums"?It's only the founders. It's latvian for "founders edition". There will be no logos on the or plate in the GB.

I think the TMO logo is super cute too!! Sad if that's only gonna be on the founders ones.
I'm still agonising over what combination I'm going to go with. Has it been mentioned anywhere else whether you're going to allow people to order multiples of any parts? I'm tempted by a polycarb bottom but idk if I'd want to _only_ have that as an option

It's just a thought. They have to be stripped of any anodizing before they can be painted, so it's really like a cost saving measure. Why against raw options? It's good for people that want to have them powder coated or cerakoted.
Well, I'll have to think about it maybe.
I'm perfectly fine not having the logo on it... makes the design cleaner. If it does end up going on it should be discreet :)Well, if there is any logo (I'm starting to consider it) then the only thing that'll stay from the founders run are the TMO50 on the left side
(on the other hand I'm absolutely in favour of the case having something in Latvian on it! Baltic languages are awesome)

Yeah. A sticker for the right blocker is optional. People may get it and decide if apply it or not. They can even apply it and remove it if they do not like it. I share the feeling that having it carved from the factory may alter the minimalistic nature of the TMO50's design.

From my understanding (sorry to start a sentence like that lol) the idea was to keep the logo/placement that's on the FE but only keep the TMO logo that's on the back side of the top part of the board (so FE style minus the FE text).
That would mean that the TMO has a logo on the back, similar to the diamond that is on the back of the Pearl.
Happy to discuss further

Logos are a curse or a blessing depending on each observer. The interested parties may split between those that want it, the neutrals and those that do not want one. Thus, make it an option that buyers may opt in or out. That would be the best solution.

Oooff that's one that makes sense for the buyers but a nightmare for the GB runner.
If the factory machining the parts outsources the anodization to another shop, then you have to trust that the factory also makes sure that the anodization shop colors the right tops, which adds another row of risk calculation in the hyperthetical excel sheet.
From a GB runners point of view you're doubling the request to the factory. You'd now have 2 different model files for the top (1 with logo and 1 without) and you would then have to specify for each of the 5 colors 2 different options.
If the anodization shop doesn't respect the list, then we could end up with something like 7 anodized blue tops with logos and 3 anodized blue tops without logos, but maybe 5 people ordered anodized blue with logo and 5 anodized blue without.
For that reason, I would always prefer to minimize any chances that the factory or anodizers make a mistake, and go for one option for the whole GB: either logo yes or logo no!
Yeah I was concerned this would be the issue, to make OP's life easier and the GB run smoother, I will remove my vote for the logo.I'm perfectly fine not having the logo on it... makes the design cleaner. OK, I see that discussion has been heated and I appreciate it. I'm on the fence if I'd do a logo or not but I'm thinking about different options too. Non the less - it's my decision in the end so there won't be any poll.
Other side of things - here's a full album of all of the founder keyboards! Enjoy and yes - there's a lot of colors!

I'm still looking at the photos like every hour or so for the past week and sometimes get the feeling that they're renders. Also the plate photos don't have any shadow so it's hard to understand are they floating on air or no. :D
What bottom's material would be better? The poly would make a nice sound dampener, but the Alu should be stronger. What do you guys think? Will the PCB have any leds at the bottom that makes the poly a nice light difuser? Regarding the plate Alu is a no brainer, it is cheaper than brass, stronger than Poly and it will not tarnish as brass.

The pcb will have RGB leds, how many and in what position will dictate the difusing with the poly bottom. I like a more soft typing experience so I will probably go with poly + alu buttom with alu top and a poly plate.

Yes, I think I've mentioned that there's gonna be RGB leds underneath (12 - 5 between top two and 5 between bottom two rows and 1 each side in between middle rows). There's really not much space underneath the pcb so there's very little space for the sound to resonate. Alu is definitely stronger and adds weight for a more premium feel but poly is for a relaxed and possibly more colourful experience.

oh my goodness that album is borderline nsfw! Agree that they look like renders (probably the pristine white photobox contributes heavily to that), but so excited to see so many colour combos!
Is the green of the founder series keyboards the same as the green in the anodization samples? The full boards look a little paler in colour.
Sorry for the double post but I'd like to confirm - 6TH COLOUR IS HAPPENING. PINK IT IS.This is great news for pink lover people

Nope, the colours are unique and chosen by the boards owners. The only board that uses the GB colours is 08 (silver top, dark gray bottom, sandblasted brass). Everything else is one-off and probably (hopefully) never leaves the founder. :D
That's what I figured. Will we be seeing full board anodization samples in the chosen colours by the time the GB starts?
Also I got a little too excited and I remapped the colours in one of the photos of the green board to the colours of the green anodization sample photo, just to see what happened. Sharing it here in case anyone else is curious, although obviously this is my own image processing and not a real board:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/Uy64mvl.jpg)
That lilac or light purple is amazing.
About the GB colours - unfortunately no, I'm not doing sample boards in the GB colours. But the finish and consistency is great so I trust that real boards will be great and in the correct colour.

You mean the full alu board with a dark plate? One of my favourites from the bunch, even though I love them all! :D
Yar and the one with the polycarb plate and bottom. Not sure if they are different colours or just the lighting. Wish you would offer that colour though! It's a white box photo booth so lightning is the same in all photos. :D I'd like to offer all of the colours but I need to draw a line somewhere. 6 colours and material and individual part options will hard to keep track of already. That lilac or light purple is amazing.

A bit off topic here, but in 1926 my great grandfather and his family packed up, left the family farm, and moved to California where he painted Model T Fords.
Before long, he ended up hating it out there and promptly moved the family back home to the farm in Iowa.
So, apparently painting Model T Fords wasn't for everyone either.

Hey guys!
It's been a week with no updates, sorry about that.
Due to some personal reasons I've been extremely busy and am a tiny bit behind the schedule with the plans I had for last and this week.
I've yet to make a business as the money involved in this GB most definitely isn't small change that I can just push through my personal bank account without government checking in. I'm planning to go through this process next week. In about that time there should be a couple of finished founder boards too so I'll have final feedback on small changes if there is any to be made. If any issue arises that is a minor fix and doesn't change anything in the design or the pcb, it'll be fixed while GB sign-up phase happens.
I'm truly sorry about another minor setback but life is life and I don't want to rush the final steps of the project.
What an amazing project. I'd forgotten all about it since June, so was amazing to follow the progress and discussions up to this point.
Is the TMO50's width larger than that of a regular sixty? Would the style compensate for the loss of the top number row? I really like the design; yet, I can touch-typing on the alphas; but, I need visual clue for the symbols. All this waiting time allows for some thinking. :(

SOON (TM)
Unfortunately there is an issue with the founders PCBs (hand-soldered ones, not factory made) so there's been quite a delay to get them back to the person who assembled them and then back to US proxy so she can send out everyone's complete packages. It's was a small issue but it's set the final testing and finishing configuration quite a bit. Boards should've been with founders early to mid August but well... it is what it is. I'm extremely bummed that there's been a delay but I'll provide GB pricing for everything this week (possibly without shipping costs)
On a positive note - I've talked with Zfrontier and he's happy to help out with being this GBs Asia proxy. That means TMO50 will have both US and Asia proxies and me for covering Europe.
SOON (TM)...
Due to personal matters I'm putting a hold on the GB. I truly am sad about this but... I will be back when I'm ready. This WILL happen sometime.Dude, very sorry to hear that. Good luck on everything and hope to see you soon.

Hey people!
Before the interesting part I would like to say thank you for everyone posting good wishes and messaging me. It's been extremely uplifting and show that there's some great people in this community. THANK YOU. Okay, I'll wipe the tears off and get into something way way more important. :D
As most of you know about a week ago I made a statement about putting TMO50 group buy on hold. It's due to personal matters I don't want to get into but needless to say it's taking a toll on me and my family. It was not easy to make the prior announcement and it's been hard on me as I've put in so much time and resources into everything and I can't make that final step.
Over the course of these past few days I've thought about all the ways I'll come back later and make a group buy and get it out to as many interested people as humanly possible. But the thing is - you've waited long enough and you're ready to get it NOW. Founders boards have been delivered (finally!) and we think it's been a great success! That being said, we (I and the Founders) are confident that TMO50 is ready for a bigger audience. And there's no reason not to make it happen whatever it takes.
I hereby announce that TMO50 group buy Round 1 will happen and it'll happen SOON. With the help and support of a couple of very close friends and also TMO50 founders, Kellybear and Briz, the group buy is back on! We've talked with Kellybear and Briz taking over the operation for Round 1 so I can focus on my personal situation while still being able to see this through. They'll be taking over everything, from organizing to delivery and I have the uttermost confidence they'll do way better than I ever could. If you don't know, they're very talented artisan makers so they have experience with running things and seeing it through.
Where does this leave you and what's happening now? For the time being Kellybear and Briz are busy with their primary business, artisans. But they're already hard at work finalizing pricing and planning out a roadmap for Round 1. There's going to be an official group buy announcement and a GB post made end of September with the actual GB happening in October. For all the details about how it'll go down you'll have to wait until the GB post. But it'll be limited so stay on your toes!
Please notice that I've mentioned "Round 1". There's going be "Round 2" also but I can't say when. Kelly's helping me with this just until I'm ready to organize a group buy on my own. I'll point out again that I don't know when that could be. :(
I would like to thank Kellybear and Briz for coming through with this incredible save and I'm grateful to have them. Also all the other Founders - your time and feedback is what motivates me to see this through. I'm also thankful for everyone in this IC that's been holding in with me and TMO50. It's been a long way to get here and I'm happy that we've found a way this board can become a reality and bring it to you all. TMO50 will live on and I'm 100% confident that'll there's more to come from me when I return.
Sincerely,
Emils
Hi guys! I just wanted to chime in since Emils has announced that I will be handling the round 1 buy for this board. I will have an official GB thread posted up in late September with price estimates for everyone. I plan to have 30 slots for this group buy. I wish I could do more but this takes away time from my normal work. I'm ecstatic to move forward with this and get the TMO50 to those who want it! Please stay tuned for more information :3

I know you might not have decided yet, but is it gonna be a first-come-first-served dealy, or a raffle? If the slots are gonna be limited

If there is more interest than there is slots, I plan to raffle! I'm just going to have people interested fill out the form based on what they want and I'll have it run through a random number generator to select people. It'll be open a reasonable amount of time to allow everyone to enter (probably 24 hours).
interested in this but waiting for final pricing so i can decide whether to jump in or not! Glad this is back on. ;D
I really want to try this layout and the board looks great. If it's rose gold it'd be a dream come true for me too. The color linked to the 'Rose Goldia' in the front page is Pantone 7520C which looks really nice, but the color shown in one of the founder boards seems to be more pink, almost light purple-ish. Is it just me or the lighting, or is that the final Rose Goldia?

The pink board that you see in photos is a custom pink that was chosen by a founder. That will not be the same as the Rose Goldia group buy color. Unfortunately I don’t have a physical sample of the Rose Goldia since the color was added after samples had already been ordered and received.

Glad to know! I'm definitely in for a Rose Goldia ;D
Hey people!Hey Funderburker!

I'll have concrete prices listed when I post up the group buy thread. For now I can tell you that the boards will cost between 275-350 depending on materials chosen! Sorry I can't give more details yet. :< I promise the group buy thread will be up before the form for entry opens so people can see prices ahead of time.
Not sure, if the 275-350 price is a bit too steep for me.. Going to have to consider this, maybe I‘d have to wait for the second run. Still, thanks a lot for taking over this first round!interested in this but waiting for final pricing so i can decide whether to jump in or not! Glad this is back on. ;D

Two quick questions:
1. Are there already some pictures of your founders board? :)
2. Is there going to be a possibility for a raw board (meaning without anodization)? I already asked the question once (and the answer was „probably not possible“), but since everything changed a bit, I thought I‘d ask again.
I'm excited that this is going to happen but I have TERRIBLE rng luck. I've been after this board since the very first post so I can't say I'm super happy about only 30 slots in R1. Life goes on though and after I lose R1 I'll be fully supportive of R2 and beyond! Funderburker, you have designed a beautiful endgame keyboard worthy of any collection (as well as daily use!). October can't come soon enough!
Agreed with all of the other sentiments expressed here! Funderburker, thanks for ensuring the project continues in the very near term -- you didn't need to! Best wishes. Kellybear and Briz, thanks for taking up the mantle amongst all of your other work! I'm disappointed the first run will be a raffle of 30, as there's been lots of interest and I have terrible luck, but I applaud you for keeping the scale manageable for yourselves!
I know it's disappointing that it will be a raffle. I wish I could do more but I don't want to bury myself in boards since I am trying to fit in doing the group buy while I am still working on my own projects. I hope you understand. This will just be the first run and of course more rounds will be available in the future. I really appreciate you guys expressing your thoughts. Like I stated previously, if more entries appear than slots, it will raffle, but if there are 30 people then everyone gets in. I know it'll come down to the prices so I will post the group buy when I can finalize everything.

Oh no, I totally understand. As I said, beyond my personal feelings, I'm glad that you're being realistic about the scale of the project! It's all too common in these group buy / crowdfunding situations for project leaders to over-promise and then get overwhelmed, so I take this as a sign that the project will likely stay on track and is in professional hands :) We'll see how things go once the final price is announced -- there's a big difference between 275 and 350.

The range of pricing comes from whether you decide to do full aluminum case with aluminum/brass plate versus an aluminum top and polycarbonate for the rest. Polycarbonate plate and bottom are of course cheaper options compared to their metal counterparts. I still want to offer as much as I can despite this being a small buy so I do want to give aluminum, brass, and polycarbonate options. The numbers themselves will either go up or down. I’m also including PayPal fees and shipping in this guestimate. I’ll get the group buy thread up as soon as I can after I’m done communicating with the manufacturer for the cases and the PCBs.
Just to clarify, there will be no polycarbonate top correct?
Update for everyone: GB thread is awaiting approval. Prices have been posted in them. I'll post the link when the thread is approved!

Is there a second round in the works?
No, it's been put on hold. I understand people are really interested in a R2 as am I but it's not possible for me to run it yet and I don't think Kellybear is eager to do a R2 too. The soonest I could (but I'm not saying I would) is this summer but that also depends on whether I get my **** together IRL or not. I'm on extremely busy schedule with work, uni and other personal matters. I'd like to run R2 myself but that also comes with some challenges as I'm an EU citizen and seeing that a large percentage of people that entered R1 raffle was from US, that means extra customs and shipping costs for example. There's always a proxy possible but that's still an extra step to do if 70% is going to a proxy and I'm covering only 30% (percentage is only an example, these numbersa aren't from R1 entrants), who's running the GB? :D Also my manufacturer (as a lot of others) increased manufacturing costs so that means either negotiating those costs or just ramping up on quantity and lowering options (3 colors instead of 6).
From a purely personal reason - I'd like to get my own TMO50's before doing R2 as I have a couple ideas on improving some aspects of the boards (redo indicator LEDs, bigger tolerance on the USB port) and adding other features (USB-C over USB-Mini, etc.).
P.S. I did some work on an acrylic "sandwich" design case that I wanted to open-source with everyone but all of the extra pcbs were bought out so quick that there's none left.

This is probably my favorite layout of any keyboard I've seen. I must have it!
Rama's new Foundry could help out with round 2... :)
Much appreciated for all your hard work!

Unfortunately for now you'll have to hunt one down or make your own using the plate files. Sorry mate. :-[Rama's new Foundry could help out with round 2... :)

Plate files are open sourced and available in my Github repo (https://github.com/emiilsd/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/tmo50/dxfs). PCB files are not available right now.
