What am I looking at here (looks like a "lid" over a keycap):

The function and page up/down cluster keys have a sort of lid on them - what are those?

Relegendable keycaps.  You take the clear plastic off and stick a printed legend card in and put it back together.

They are more often found on Point-of-sale keyboards (cash registers). Cherry is the only one I know of that prints defaults legends on the bottom part.

You'll find them on old cherry boards ( expecially those huge battleships).

Your best bet is to put a WTB thread on deskthority. EU keyboard hoarders have tons of Cherry boards.

Some of us Cherry hoarders on here do too. I got rid of most of my relegendables already though, only have a few left of each color... except I still need 1 glow key.

Tipro also does relegendables, but the ones in the pictures are Cherry. I have a ton (like 41) on my G80-8113.

After the hack, new members first needed 20 message to see the classified/group buy board.

Then, they removed this rule, and new user can see and reply in those subforums, but can't create a thread until 50 posts.

Why? I don't know.

No worries, I was wondering mainly as a matter of curiosity. They looked vaguely like some kind of miniature doomsday button with a safety cover over it.

Oh and I'm not a "he" (I get that a lot on every gaming forum I'm a member of though, so I'm used to it  ;D). That reminds me, I should head on over to GeekHack Steam community at some point.

The lid snaps off. There is no hinge.
