GMK Voyage celebrates Voyager 2's incredible feat of becoming the first spacecraft to observe Uranus and Neptune up close. The set also recognizes Voyager 2 as the longest operating spacecraft and the second to have crossed into interstellar space - the first being its sister, Voyager 1!) The colors are inspired by the blues of the icy twins, Uranus and Neptune.

Deskmats will be available to all proxies as well as Zap Cables :D, but Zap Cables are limited in number. However, the sleeve options are also available to order straight from Zap's.

There are two notable differences to the ones being sold with the GB. First, you can save some money on shipping costs. Second, they have gold-colored connector ends instead of the standard silver that Zap usually uses.

Not yet. I was hoping it would be up today. Should be up tomorrow though. I know John from Zap has been working on it.

I can tell you that the two designs are:

1) Midnight Blue cord with Neon Blue Techflex
2) Navy Camo.

Heatshrink is a dark blue and the connectors will be gold in color instead of the usual silver. The gold connectors will be exclusive to GMK Voyage.

Out of curiosity, the deskmat design with orbits and timeline of major events: there seems to be a missing orbit for Neptune, which was one of the mission objectives for Voyager 2 and where a number of discoveries were made.  Was that a design decision?  I see Earth -> Mars -> Saturn -> Jupiter -> Uranus -> ...  The end point seems to symbolically represent the current location outside the solar system, past the heliosphere.  Alternatively, adding rings to "Mars" on that drawing could make it right in terms of the science goals for the planetary fly-bys by turning all the planets shown into ringed systems (which Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune have).

(P.S.: background in astrophysics, and I'm getting a couple of these mats for planetary scientists.)

Hey, thanks for your questions and support of the set!

The Mission Map deskmat is based off of this mission map: [attachimg=1]

Which is why the planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Yes, Jupiter has very feint rings but we decided to omit them and focus on it's lines and swirls inside the planet itself. Uranus and Neptune have swirls because we based them off the novelties of the set. I understand that Uranus is mainly one solid color with no swirls, but when creating the novelty it was quite boring with either a completely hollowed out middle or the opposite - completely infilled. The swirls were our way to make them more interesting and aesthetically pleasing.

Yes, there is a little green in the mods, but I wouldn't say too much. Of course I'm biased though. I spent many iterations on the colors to achieve what I thought looked best. If you're looking at the Volcano render by Abec13, that best envisions how I would like the physical keycaps to look. Abec's other renders are great - Cypher and Kotai - but the lighting is a tad darker than in the Volcano one. I probably would have used Abec for all of my renders if he would have been available during the begging of the IC.

Lastly, here's one of the first renders I purchased after carefully selecting the colors. It too is a close match to Abec's renders and is a decent representation of my vision.

Hmm, on the contrary I think accent and mod color goes well together - the alphas would be the one I would say are slightly out of tune - but honestly I think all colors mend together nicely.

Waiting for all proxies to report, but we're hovering at about 125 for base. Recent Reddit posts have given us a good bump. Should have confirmed numbers late this week or early next.

There have been a lot of keyset GBs this month - keyboard GBs too - so it's not surprising that numbers are a bit lower than we'd hoped. That being said, we are still doing fine. The last week usually sees the largest number of buyers, which we are still several days away from. If they have to, vendors will buy out MOQ. As for the extension kit, I've been using ortho exclusively for a few months now so I'll buy out MOQ on that kit if I need to. The kit is doing fine though in terms of number of base kits sold to number of extension kits sold.

I'll ask proxies for numbers this weekend and report back early next week.

The Mission Map deskmat colors were a bit tricky to catch in photo. The accent bluish-green of the Voyager outline appears lighter/whiter than it actually is. Upas from Cannon Keys, who has these on hand, confirms that there is more blue-green color than what the photo suggests.

The pattern deskmat looks great! No problems at all there.


Lastly, keycap samples are on their way from GMK. Upas will receive them first and then he'll past them on to me. I think he may receive them either this week or next.

Samples look pretty good! Might just be nitpicking but I could see a shade brighter for the 2965C and a tiny bit more green in the 0821C. 2728C is looking pretty solid as is to me. Interested to see others opinions' as well!

Yeah, the mod's navy looks really dark, like black almost. But, if that's how it's going to be, so be it. At least it looks navy under the light.

Also, why the change of the anti-fray stitching for the deskmat? It was black before. Just wondering, still looks great.

Now that a few people have chimed in, I'll give my thoughts.

All of the colors are very close, even the dark blue (2965C). The blue alphas (2728C) and the legend/accent color (0821C) are a bit closer to the Pantone than the dark blue (2965c) however. Yes, the dark blue is a bit too dark. If keyboards were used in optimal lighting it would be less of a problem, but since we all use keyboards inside under sub-optimal lighting, we'd like to lighten it up some. Now here's the thing with color matching from GMK. We can't just tell them that we'd like a certain sample just a tad brighter. Instead, we'd have to pick a whole new Pantone or RAL to be color sampled. For that reason, that's why we are keeping the legend/accent (0821C) color unchanged from the first sample. Choosing a different Pantone or RAL would only make it less of a match than what we already have.

As for the dark blue (2965C), we would like to make it a bit lighter. We're going with RAL since GMK matches to RAL better. We chose 5011. It's a bit lighter and also a bit more blue - yes, the set needs more blue. Could be too much in the lighter spectrum though. Anyway, here's a comparison:

We also didn't realize this until GMK reached back out to us, but another set is using RAL 5011. It appears that they have already color matched to this RAL, so because GMK has already made this sample, they are able to send us one in less time than what it normally takes them. Brownie points to the person that can guess correctly which set it is.


Stay tuned for round 2 of samples. I'll also be able to show them off against Nautilus and Calm Depths since I recently acquired those two sets.

My original thought was no, but after looking over the IC and GB threads I'm not too sure. The Pantone he originally chose is not the same, but since then he's gone with RAL and has not listed out the color codes. I don't think it's the same, but it looks to be very close.

Metropolis was not the set I was thinking of anyways. Hint: they are both in IC but are looking to go into GB this year. Yes, there are two sets that have RAL 5011 listed.

I think a slight deviance from the renders is fine. At the end of the day, no one is gonna go through the renders with a fine tooth comb as renders are just that, renders.

Yes, that is correct. The one on the left is RD2. They are both very, very similar. I like that the rd2 sample will look ever so slightly more blue, and less black, in indirect indoor lighting than RD1.

The top spacebar is from GMK Nautilus and the bottom is GMK Striker. If interested, I can add Calm Depths to the mix, but it's much different than any of the blues here.

Upas says he wasn't given an exact date of when it will ship from GMK, but I do know that they are about to start printing the banderoles. Hopefully they give Upas a more specific timeline soon.

Edit: I should be more clear. February is the estimate, but I don't know if that means ship from GMK or that Upas will have them by that February, because they could ship at the end of the month and not arrive at Upas' until March.

Hi Everyone,

Word from GMK has made it down to me that the keycaps are expected to ship from GMK at the end of this month, which means that Cannon Keys should have them by March. I'd think a shipping date from Cannon Keys by mid to late March would be reasonable.

GMK Olive thread has some people noting that there's stem issues causing the keys to be slightly off axis. See any of that on your board?

I got mine finally ! Just in time too, because my some of my old keys were held on by glue and hope for the human race (which, given my work atm, is rapidly dwindling....)

No pictures sadly because the lighting in my room is complete crapola and my mousepad refuses to come clean, but they're amazing and I am extremely pleased !

Being a kid when Cosmos first hit TV and the Shuttle was new and the Voyager probes were visiting the outer planets was a magical time.
