SteelSeries Ikari Opinions?
« on: Fri, 28 June 2013, 11:12:16 »
Hello!

My old mouse is getting pretty crappy (Double clicking and sometimes releases from an hold click) now and i'm looking something new (i have a DeathAdder right now).

I was checking the Ikari and i was wondering if it would be worth it to get one but since it's a pretty old model i don't really know what to expect.

Anyone can give me his opinion please?

Thanks.

I used the ikari right after using the death adder and liked it much better ergonomically compared to the death adder, but the rubberized surface seemed to get dirty pretty easily and got harder and harder to clean after a while. Eventually I got the Mionix Naos 3200 and the ergonomics between the two were very similar but I liked the coating a lot more, and I think it's probably more economical nowadays because I think ikaris are harder to come by.

The Steelseries Ikari is by far the most comfortable palm grip mouse I've ever had. I don't use it today because it had frequent disconnections (I think this is the most common problem this mouse had in the past) and I moved on to smaller mice.

I think it all depends on how well the shape works for you. I know that the Ikari optical is pretty popular among Steelseries sponored pro teams.

The one i got on deal is Laser not optical. Any clue if it's any better?

I guess laser is best since it's newer technology but i am not sure.

Great mouse, had the laser one, actually 4 or 5. Doubt the laser is more accurate than the optical, quite the contrary, depending of course whether you use high or low sensitivity. Great for high sensitivity, very precise but I think that could be said of every laser mice.

Here's a size comparison; Ikari - DA - Ec2

Thanks for the comparision.

Looking a little info Laser gets the edge with higher DPI even if i won't use them (i'm a low dpi player). Still, laser works on glass and that's pretty cool.

For 40$ i mean the optical is more expensive than that. Why would i settle for less?

I don't think you'll regret your purchase. My friend used to own one and comparing it with my deathadder, Xai and lacheisis, I can safely say his Ikari was by far the MOST comfortable mouse to use. Apart from the weird shape though, tracking is pretty good as well.

I've had it for about 3 days now and i'd say it's a never look back from the DeathAdder really. While the DeathAdder was pretty damn cool i think the Lazur Ikari is way better in every way. The straightner driver is just a blessing.
