I've got a Vortex CORE that I never really use due to it being a fairly impractical keyboard but I pulled it out the other day when I found myself having very limited desk space.

The first problem I noticed was when I typed Shift+Fn1+B I didn't get an apostrophe and instead got a "<".

Not being able to figure it out I thought I'd just reset the layer using Fn+R however after holding down for 5 seconds (even tried 30 seconds) nothing happened. Next I tried resetting the whole board by holding both Alt keys and again nothing happened.

Then I thought screw it I'll update the firmware but when I open the update software it doesn't show the current firmware version and OK is greyed out. I've tried on 3 different computers with 3 different microUSB cables and still no luck.

I think I updated the firmware to V1.04.05 in 2019 but I'm not entirely sure.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on and how I might fix it?

Hey man,

Please try to hit Fn1+B to get an apostrophe instead of shift+Fn1+B

um...what about hitting Fn1+Shift+B?

Fn1+Shift+B also results in a comma.

Seems strange but ,< is the same key so looks like it's just a mapping issue.

Just checking as it's not worded very well - you hold both Alt keys then press Fn+R to reset all layers?

ALT+ALT then FN+R = Nothing.
ALT+ALT+FN+R = Nothing.

I just can't for the life of me reset the ****ing thing in any way. Afaik I've tried all combinations.

Could it be that the white LED is dead so it's not showing me the reset? But even if the white LED is dead then why is FN+B still giving me a "," instead of a "'" after the factory reset?

Only thing I've found that may be able to help me is holding FN+D while plugging it in makes it a Mass Storage device, and I guess I could move another layout on to it. Is there any way to pull the current layout off it so I can actually look at what is mapped where?
