If this GB happens, would it be a regular GB or a fcfs basis?

The plan is for it to be a regular GB (pre-orders through Zeal PC).

"Case Top Options: HHKB Blockers, No Blockers"

Looks neat, any renders with the standard top?
x2. I mean I can mentally visualize what it would look like, like any other 60%, but a visual would go a long way. Will be following for further updates, looks great Wilba!

Same here.

This looks so dope, I'm in!

Scrolled through the thread again - Saw you responded to bottom photos - is the standard top still being considered?

You mentioned that the design is better suited for an aluminium plate but brass might be an option in a later group buy.

Does that mean that if a brass option should happen the design will be slightly changed down the road to accommodate to the brass version or will it have the same design so people who joined in R1 can just order an additional brass plate for their Thermal?

I meant Zeal PC (or another GB runner) could produce brass plates at a later date that would work with Thermal cases produced in the first round, no design changes to the case would be necessary. I also meant that since the plate is also visible on the sides, becoming an accent, brass plates would be either brass colored or PVD coated, and not be as aesthetic as an aluminium plate which could be anodized in a range of colors.

This is all a bit presumptuous that there will even be a round 1, let alone another round of this case. However, if there is more than one round of Thermal, each would have some different colors/materials of cases and plates, and they would be compatible with parts from other rounds.

This is a bit like how Rama Works sold new types of rear weights (and other parts) separately, and people could have bought just those to use with their M60-A from round 1.

Oh okay, my bad. I thought you meant design as in how the case is constructed and not how it looks.
I prefer aluminium anyway but thanks for clearing that up!

If that's the case you can probably count me in.
I'll wait for a typing test to make my final decision but everything so far is pointing towards a buy.

A question for those who have the Boardwalk PCB, hence why I'm asking it here instead of PM'ing you.

Will this case work with universal 60% PCBs? I'm enjoying my Boardwalk (60%% ortho) tremendously and would love to transfer it to this case. If so, would it be possible to use a custom plate?

Thanks!!  :thumb:

Someone already asked me something similar, if they could use XD75 PCB and a custom plate... the answer is yes, there is clearance for a USB socket in the usual position (between Esc and 1), so all that would be required is soldering the internal USB cable (for the daughterboard USB-C) to the alternative PCB. Some PCBs have pads specifically for this (like Zeal60 did before rev 4), so how easy this would be is dependent on the PCB. There is almost always some clearly identifiable points to which you can solder the 4 wires.

If you wish to preserve the original cable that comes with Thermal, you can get cables from electronics suppliers which have the right connector for the daughterboard USB-C. Example 1 Example 2

The plate design files for Thermal will be made available for anyone to make their own custom plates. I might also design some on request.

Thanks! I'll ask the Boardwalk PCB creator if this is possible. If other Boardwalk owners are also interested, send me a PM and I'll let you know the outcome.

Could you send me a sample thermal so I could test this out with an ortho pcb? I'd be glad to help :D wink wink
