First Time Builder Quick Question: Magnet Tray
« on: Thu, 12 May 2022, 00:02:57 »
I was wondering if using a magnet tray like one of these (https://www.amazon.com/Titan-Tools-11061-Magnetic-Parts/dp/B000HYL20G) would ruin any SMDs I put on it because of the magnet.

I was gifted one of these and because I don't have a proper tray/mat to put stuff on and I don't wish put more money on tools since, I wanted to know if it's safe to use.

I'm putting together an Ergo Dox for the first time (and with that assembling a second keyboard after putting together a hot swappable PLANCK) : I had it all done using through-hole diodes but but some key switches were not registering and I figured it was better to try SMDs instead. So I just finished tearing down the left and right "hands" and cleaning them up of solder before I get the SMDs ready for soldering them on and then the keyswitches.

I just don't want to have something happen where the diodes got messed up because of a magnet.

This is my first time posting a question on here so any help would be appreciated.
