A keyboard designed by my 10 year old daughter
« on: Sun, 10 January 2016, 05:23:39 »
My daughter is very interested in what I am doing here and she want's to build her own keyboard.

And with a little help this is the result. Not bad for the first try  :thumb:
I love the Neo 2 Layout and splitted matrix keyboards. Never want to go back

That would be an interesting return to say the least! It would be quite cool to have a 1.25 width key there, but I don't think I could do with having all my alphas in columns like that.

Definitely a very good first attempt!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

It'll be her own little keyboard. Is she old enough to understand the layout, or did she just sort of pick stuff based on ease of arranging the keys?

She starts to learn touch typing and she knows how to write capital letters. But  she don't know things like copy&paste. Step by step

No, never see one. That's why I made a little modification. Want to make this with Cherry ML switches and I try to make the PCB symmetrical

I have a couple of 1.25x2 keycaps. From old Canon (Alps rubber dome) typewriter keyboards.

This is really good! Only suggestions I'd have (and this is me being nitpicky) is to make the caps lock a Ctrl key, and to add 1u Alt and Del (or something else like Fn) keys on the left/right side next to space respectively (guessing the 1u key at the top is a backspace)
