New CM Storm Keyboard: Trigger Z
« on: Thu, 22 August 2013, 20:58:13 »
Ain't big news for me, but well...

New features:

- New and better cherry stabilizers (old Trigger ones are crap)
- Same LED structure as TK (MX Brown = White LEDs, MX Blue = Blue LEDs...)
- Same OEM as TK (supposedly)
- More internal memory (five profiles and up to 75 macros to each one, it's fully customizable)
- Faster internal processor (I gotta admit, old Trigger's was a bit slow)
- No bloody USB HUB with almost no power to it
- Removable USB Type A Connector, no bloody mini-USB anymore.
- Includes a keycap removal tool (yay!)

And all that yada yada yada from the old Trigger, such as rubberized coating all over it, including the wrist rest, five profiles that can be changed during gameplay, available in many different Cherry MX switches, back-lighting (though they may be changes right here, such as the LEDs intensity, which was quite weak on the old model)...

Pretty sure that the original Trigger has been made by Costar, so the updated one would also be, as it looks identical (just all-black).

Nah, Carter complained a lot about how Costar is expensive and ****ing slow and also told me that this one isn't going to be Costar.

Greens available?

Maybe...

Hrm, so they had it remade at a different factory with the same exact dimension specifications then?  Odd.  TK is iOne?

Indeed weird... Not like I'm gonna complain if the modifiers are standard sized anyway  :thumb:

It just means that if the keycaps are ultimate crap, I can still replace them for a Ducky Shine keycap set.

I fixed my typo in my post.  I meant iOne :)  Anyway, too bad--the original has been very well made--hopefully the new one is not any worse.

TK and this new keyboard should come from the same factory as Logitech G710+, Corsair K70 and Razer Blackwidow 2013 (ain't made by iOne anymore). Their quality is good, as far as I know, but the keycaps are just awful.

Same OEM, the entire 2013 and Tournament models are made by a different OEM from the older models. Don't ask me the name, all companies have been hiding whoever they are.

I had a few pictures of a Razer BW Tournament Edition disassembled a few months ago and I gotta admit, the soldering job is fantastic, shiny, well applied, no excess solder or lack and the PCB looks nice as well. Heck, it looked even better than my Costar keyboards do.

But sure, keycaps probably didn't get any better at all and the overall feel of the keyboard must feel similar to the old model, but what's inside counts as well.

Swear to god, when I saw

I thought you were going to complain or troll about this new keyboard, and say something between the lines of "Yet another damn gaming keyboard?" or "Why the **** bother? Buy an Ergodox. /thread"

But anyways, yeah, they should tell us, but to many companies it doesn't matters if their customers database knows if the quality of their products has increased or decreased, all that really matters is if they're buying or not...  ;)

If you guys still use this keyboard. Please tell me your feeling about this. And how is it compared to the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014?

I really really need your experiences, because I'm going to buy this or the new Razer BWU 2014.

I'd reaaaaaaally avoid buying anything with Razer switches, since Kailh (the one that actually produces those switches) suffers from Quality Control problems and just like many people on Amazon and other websites you may end up with a board that has no integrity on switches, some click, some don't, some have tactile feedback, others feel like linear switches.

And let us be honest, even Cherry has some problems when making switches like MX Blue, Kailh having even more problems is just a consequence.

Kailh isn't all that bad when it comes to linear switches, since afterall they're easier to produce, I even have a linear board from them here (Tesoro Lobera G5NFL Supreme), but I'd really avoid them, even more knowing that they're cheaper and Razer charges an extra for them  :thumb:

Is the Ducky Shine III not available in your region? There's also the Roccat Ryos MK Pro which is extremely interesting if you want something more advanced. If not, you can buy the Razer BWU 2013, which used Cherry MX switches.

Yeah,  thanks hundreds of times.  I didn't buy Razer.  However,  in my city,  there is hard to get Ducky or others. Only CM and Razer.

I know that CM is not so excellent,  but it is ok.  So I decide to get one for office,  CM Storm Trigger Z Red Switch.  I also decided to get others brand too,  for home pc,  it will be a better keyboard than Trigger Z,  but it is fine for now.

So you tell me, Which one should I go?  Or you can tell me which one you feel like the best in your opinion.

I appreciate your idea,  and I open to your suggestions.

Money is not a problem,  as long as it is not overpriced.
