I'm zekkin -- I've been around for, wow, about six years now, with only the last two being spent diving into keyboard design. Until now I've mostly kept to posting my work on the MechKeys Discord server (pretty much exclusively in #kb-kustoms), my Instagram (https://instagram.com/zekk.works), and in various smaller Discord servers amongst close friends. I have a few keyboards that are in the wild, none being from a public group buy, at least in the sense that it was posted here, on Geekhack.
During those two years I only ever designed things with sandwich or top mount and wanted to try something different. I was not too pleased with the general public's aversion to reveal the "secrets" of the fabled OTD 356mini (despite there being very high resolution images of the board available), so I decided to make something that should, in theory, replicate the mounting style, but mixed with my own aesthetic flavor.

Layout and Color Choices:
You will be able to choose from Red, Dark Gray, Black, or Silver anodizing colors. There is only one top piece available -- there is no WKL or HHKB available in this group buy.
Entry Process:
Everyone will be permitted to enter in the raffle once -- please choose one entry window. Due to the potential for multiple entries, I will be going through them with a focus on weeding them out. Discovery will result in disqualification from this and future zekk.works group buys.
Your desired configuration (color, plate choice, etc.) will be determined from the choices you make in the entry form, so please make your choices carefully.
During entry, please use the email you use most for communications.
Raffle Results:
The 35 raffle winners will be chosen on the morning (Eastern US time) of July 5, 2020 and winners will be notified shortly after. Notification of winning the raffle will come in the form of an email from support@zekk.works as well as an invoice from my Shopify storefront. Notification of not securing a spot in this GB will be sent from support@zekk.works.
Completion of the raffle will also be noted in the Geekhack group buy thread.
Order Changes and Payment:
You will have 48 hours from the time of invoice receipt to make appropriate changes and pay for your slot. If, after 48 hours, an invoice remains unpaid, the slot will be re-raffled and allocated to a new winner*. This new winner will have the full 48 hours to make any changes and pay for their slot. Should there be a second instance of non-payment, the slot will not be re-raffled but held by me to sell after GB units have been fulfilled.
As a very serious reminder, PayPal will not be accepted as a valid form of payment.

Half plate adds to the flexy / soft bottom out even further, and obviously changes the sound since the alphas are pcb mounted. That being said, I’ve never used a mini or gskt. Thank you for the answer! Why is it a better experience vs a PCB mount with no plate? Wouldn't the plate make for a very uneven typing experience between alphas and nums/mods? Is that part of the appeal? I'm really tempted to join, but it's hard to know if this is for me when every similar board had been ultra exclusive. Oh well, since this is apparently 35 units FCFS, I'm probably gonna miss out anyways because I won't be able to fill out the form fast enough with my slow ass 40 wpm haha. Props to zekk for this great looking board!

experience is an interesting thing -- we can only describe it with other experiences, which are, by their very nature, different from person to person.
personally, the variation between the alphas and mods on a half plate is a non-issue -- most of the time i'm on alphas, and i'm sure you are as well. if you're concerned about that, go with a full plate as that will maintain a similar level of rigidity across the entire plate.
as far as exclusivity goes, it is not my intention to create a hype machine and drive up aftermarket prices due to scarcity, i'm just one guy in a relatively small NYC apartment trying to share my designs with a limited number of people so that i don't end up in the same situation as some folks who will remain unnamed.
please do not let FCFS discourage you -- i can guarantee everyone will be tripped up enough to make it a much more even race :cool:

i noticed on the proto that the spacing of the gasket posts (for lack of a better term) is wider on the south side of the case than the north side. is there a specific reason for this or is it just for aesthetic purposes? my thinking was that it could soften esc/backspace but not sure if that was the intended goal or not
hm, i didn't do it on purpose, i tried to pick mounting points that made sense without much thought about how it would/could affect sound.

Quantity is quite limited, so I think FCFS is a small target. A 24-48hr raffle might be the most equitable.

I never have luck winning raffles but at least there's a chance. People always seem to figure out how to do FCFS faster than my fingers can move.

Your desired configuration (color, plate choice, etc.) will be determined from the choices you make in the entry form, so please make your choices carefully.

not too random -- as the PCB is from hiney i'm going to guess it will end up being matte black. thickness will be 1.6mm.

Sorry if this is a silly question as I don't have much experience on GH, but for the 10 minute window entry at what time would that be for PDT? Say morning time?
The windows for entry for the Pacific timezone will be 3 hours earlier than the listed time zone, Eastern, which was specified in my details post above.

All domestic, US-based addresses will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail, with signature confirmation, with no exceptions.
All international orders will be shipped via DHL Express, with no exceptions. The customer will be responsible for all shipping costs, including import fees.
