The Mystery of the Vanishing Print Settings (Adobe Acrobat Reader)

I have been having a weird problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader recently.

Their print settings have vanished. So I can't see anything except to press ctrl-P and return to print. I can't control anything else because I can't see anything.

Updating AAReader, reinstalling, restarting computer all do not change the problem.

This isn't a printer problem. My printer firmware is current, and the settings problem does not feature in any other software I use.

Sounds like you're missing a font, do you have the 'Segoe UI' font on your PC? Should be under C:/Fonts

Amazing, I really don't have that font!

between my upgrading to Win10, then downgrading and reinstalling lots of stuff thanks to problems with the upgrade, I also cleaned house and deleted a lot of things I thought were useless or had weird names...

I'd open up a Command Prompt as Administrator, and run sfc /scannow

It should take care of the missing font, and any other system files that may be missing. Give that a shot and let me know

As good as your suggestions were, I decided not to take a chance.

Basically you can't trust Windows software to take care of Windows properly. They might end up doing something that totally locks up my computer.

See, I have a windows 7 computer, 5 years old. It was on Norton antivirus from day 1, and I have consistently scanned it. It should be pretty free of trojans and worms. I defragment the drive and get rid of unused software periodically. I also don't tweak the system very much. I certainly don't lower my firewall for free softwares. Licensed windows, win office, etc.

But my system still got windows bloat or whatever you call it. It slowed down a lot. I have way more RAM than I need, but the system is still way slower than it was when new.

Any suggestions?

buy a cheap ssd.. i got 750gb for $99 on black friday from newegg.


non sale price is around 4 to 5gb per dollar,  so get a good 512gb for only $100..


Check with me before you buy it..  you don't want to end up with a ****ty ssd.

Try PDF-XChange Viewer instead.  It's fast, free, and you can do stuff like add signature, comments, mark-up, etc.
