Yo! Welcome to GMK Polar

As a huge fan of all things blue and owning almost all of the blue sets throughout the years, I've always wished that a set like this would release, so here we are! Let's get I C Y

About

Wanted this set to be very bright and clean by staying away from dark/muted mods and with small differences between the colors. The legends are meant to be rather subtle to give it that icy look. The blue colors will be matched to custom pantones, the white is GMK WS2. Accepting any feedback you may have, if you like what you see or have any comments, please fill out my form below.

I wonder if it would be better to have the darker blue as the alpha legend color for the added contrast. May work, may not but either way I like it.

- Icon + Text Modifiers
- R5 bottom row modifiers (instead of R4)
- Uniformly (blue)-colored F-row modifiers
- Stepped Caps Lock should say Caps Lock, not just "Caps"
- "Enter" instead of "Return"

Slightly worried about the contrast for this set, but I hope it turns out well.

The novelties don't do it for me, but the alphas look especially great for mixing and matching with other sets even.

I like the colors - fits the arctic theme well! If you end up doing any more renders I'd love to see it on a dark blue board - wondering how it would look on my blue singa. R5 is always cool too as lightning said above - since they have the molds all made.

Thanks for the feedback, the modifier change is being considered and I've added a mod preference question in the form. "caps" is simply an oversight, it would say caps lock.

Dark/Navy blue is the next color that will be rendered.

Interesting concept. I have two comments, one objective and one strictly subjective:

1) ISO support has one minor error that can be easily corrected. In the base kit as it stand now, you have: mod-colored 1.25U left Shift (good), mod-colored ISO Enter (good), accent-colored ISO Enter (great), R4 \| (good) and R3 #~ (OOPS!). With this, you are giving full support to neither US ISO (the R3 #~ should be R3 \| instead), nor to UK ISO (the remaining four alpha keys, R1 `¬, R1 2", R1 3£ and R3 '@ are missing), but are falling into the "middle of the pond", which  is the worst option.

I would suggest the simplest solution: support US ISO by replacing the R3 #~ with an R3 \| key in the base kit. If UK support is asked, it should go to a separate international kit (NORDEUK being the typical option).


2) This is strictly subjective: I find the legends on the alphas to be difficult to read; perhaps using the accent-color for them would be an improvement (but WDIKAA).

I am quite new to the keyboard community but I would still like to voice some of my opinions, I see this as a genuine set of keycaps that I would buy and hopefully would as my first set of keycaps :)

1. I find the blue on the white keycaps (letters and numbers) a bit difficult to read, so possibly change that to a darker tone? (idk if my suggestions sound weird or anything, sorry)
2. I believe you mentioned the 'return' will change to enter which is nice, thanks :)

A really cool suggestion I have is a glacial themed desk mat, I believe minimalistic mousepads are nice and would be most appreciated.
- Polar bears (the keycaps are literally called polar!)
- Icebergs
- The same blue colour palette for the sky

I think simplicity and nothing too over the top and not too many details would make a good deskmat. (Mizu's deskmat's simplicity is what I believe, very nice)

I say keep the “Return” :P Not only will it fill the space better because it's longer, but it also better matches what the key usually does (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enter_key#Differences_between_Enter_and_Return). The numpad key should be changed to “Enter”, though, as I don't think Cherry even has a “Return” legend mold that would fit that key.

With “Return” in the main block + “Enter” on the numpad it'll be an exact match for what the keys do on Mac, and it'll work well for other systems too.

i absolutely love this set. one of my top3 fav. i like blue and i love those sets that have very light legend- just enouth for reference but not too strong to be in center of attention. my only concerne is to get it for winter. gl !
