Well, what do you plan on doing with the keyboard? For gaming, sustaining Greens is a workout for one's fingers. For typing, you will be able to type easily without bottoming out as the force curve gets real tough past actuation. As such, I love greens for typing. I do like gaming with Blues, but the lighter springs of Reds are the best.
I plan to get 2 ergodoxes, one for typing and general use, and one for gaming. The gaming one will host cherry reds for sure, but so far I'm not so sure about the other. I find myself bottoming out the blues in my Das Keyboard too much, maybe the greens would fit me in that sense.

I'm sitting here with a Cooler Master CM Storm Stealth with Blues and non-stealth with Greens. I put black o-rings on the greens and even with the reduced key travel they're too heavy for my taste. I really really like the blues though (this is my first experience with either). I tried the greens for 3-4 days before getting the blues today and the blues just feel better to me. So like folks said, it's just personal preference.

I did like the greens with o-rings a lot better than without them though! So I'm hoping the blues are even better when I take the time to outfit them :)

After two weeks on an MX Green board after three years on a Das Keyboard with MX Blues, I'm a believer. I love the heavier weight since even as I adjust I find that I'm not bottoming out as often or at all.

I'm still using a board with Blues for gaming right now since I haven't fully adjusted to the weight for the greens and it was causing me trouble.

Like the difference between reds and blacks.  Or even vintage blacks.

If only there were vintage greens.  I guess there will be in another 20 years or so.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

is anyone sure if green and blues differ in the tactile feedback and not only the springs?
In other words, are greens /exactly/ like blues, with a different stem color, and a different spring? It seems like there would be a difference in the tactile bump as well.

Another thought: If the above was the case, could one get 99.9% or 100% of the blue experience by putting Blue springs in a Green?

I have had several Cherry mx boards with blues, then I got a CM QFR Stealth with mx greens. I like greens better than blues, but I find them a bit fatiguing. In general, I would prefer not to use any kind of Cherry mx switch.

To me, the tactile feedback is much better with IBM capacitive buckling springs (Model F) or IBM membrane buckling springs (Model M) or Topre. These switch types also provide a decrease in force at or after the actuation point, which makes them less fatiguing than Cherry mx switches, at least that has been my experience.

Overall, any kind of Cherry mx switch would be at the bottom of my list of preferences. I much prefer IBM buckling springs or Topre switches.

Currently, my favorite boards are IBM XT, RF 87u 55g, and HHKB Pro 2.

But if I had to choose between Just Cherry mx blue or green, I would go with green.

I had a a FC660m with greens, but they were too tiring for my fingers even for typing, never mind for gaming. At this point I mostly use Topre for work and blues for Starcraft. I've thought that there might be a happy medium somewhere between blues and greens. (I've looked into 67g springs with blue switches, though I'm still unclear on precisely how that would compare to greens.)

okay.  well, i know that when talking about springs the weight is the bottom-out force. blues have a bottom-out force near clears' activation point. your example springs' bottom-out force is near the activation force required of mx clears, so they are quite light.

I've tried blues. It's a bit light. I tend to rest my fingers over a key and it just registers. Greens tho.. I've used it as my caps lock key. It's a bit stiff. But then again it's just one key.
Might be a bit tiring using it for a long time. But I'll give it a go for my next board. :D

It's interesting to read different people's perspective on this.

I find buckling springs to be quite linear, certainly more linear than my 62g ErgoClears. The bump on the Clear stem increases the force until actuation, whereafter it decreases the force and actually helps press it down against the spring. This is due to the pressure from the leaf spring and the angle on the stem bump. Feels the closest to Topre of all the MX switches, but increases resistance again before bottom out and feels more precise and "mechanical". Best all round switch IMHO.

Don't let the sound fool you, clicky switches are often LESS tactile than quiet tactile ones in terms of pressure profile. The click serves to enhance the perception of tactility, though, by adding more senses to the mix. I find Blues somewhere in between Browns and Clears in terms of tactility and I really don't like the high-pitched click sound of Blues. I haven't tried Greens yet, but from what people have described I may find the click acceptable if used with thick keycaps, although they're probably harder than I like and they will still suffer from hysteresis. I guess for MX switches I'm just a tactile guy.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I find my Gateron Blues (they are MX Compatibles) a bit too light for my liking, i've measured 53g actuation force with the original supplied PBT thin keycaps. My board is loud with thick metal back plate, the clickiness of the keys is very much as expected and likable. The actuation force on my old rubber-dome keyboard is clearly higher, never mind the g-value, so it is a bit surprising and disappointing that the popular Blues and clones are in this low g-band.

Equally important to me, when deciding for a new mkb, are the color of the board & keys AND, if it is a modern mkb costing over 100US$, the presence of full RGB with at least 512 colors. I can't stand black keyboards and black keycaps. Okay, i could install white keycaps. But the board would still be black, which is hard to accept.

  • So I am looking for a white full-sized mkb with Cherry MX Greens.
    — Doesn't exist. Afaik all commercial offerings are black or in other dark color scheme.
  • And if the mkb with Cherry MX Greens has LED backlighting, then the LED color must be either full RGB or at least pure white. No other uni-color, no rainbow fixed colors.
    — Doesn't exist. Afaik all commercial offerings have uni-color LED backlighting.
  • And if the mkb with Cherry MX Greens has no LED backlighting, then the board must cost less than 100US$. I am no *ucker!
    — Doesn't exist. Afaik all commercial offerings cost notably over 100US$ mas shipping.

My first and only mkb meets all of the above criteria and more, "but" comes with Gateron Blues. I've been learning to accept them over the past 1-2 weeks and I am satisfied enough. However, i am sure that i'd enjoy my mkb even more if it had Cherry MX Greens.

Question: Do Cherry MX Green switches with full RGB LED's exist at all?, or does a commercial mkb with RGB Cherry MX Green switches exist?

So even if someone sold me 1 box of 100pcs Cherry MX Green switches for 20US$ shipped, i couldn't substitute them for my Blues, because i would lose all the RGB lighting which my Gateron Blues currently have. I was thinking of disassembling the switches in order to swap stronger springs but after looking at the assembly of the RGB Blues i am realizing that the RGB LED was factory-assembled last: i can't just take off the upper (clear) plastic but i would need to remove/desolder the LED first no thanks!  :-*

Anyone have a comparison of any ergo clear (zealios, mod, etc...) and an MX green? Really loved my Mod Ms and was wondering if there was something with a similar weight and feel in a clicky switch option.

a quick search on Aliexpress and i readily found 2 hits for MX Compatible Greens by Gateron, for example:

104 green switches for 31.90$ with "3 pins" or "5 pins":
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Gateron-mx-switch-3-pin-adn-5-pin-transparent-case-mx-green-brown-blue-switches-for/32797603005.html

104 green switches for 26.99$ (with 3 pins afaik):
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/110pcs-pack-SMD-LED-Underglow-Led-Compatible-Gateron-Switches-For-MX-Mechanical-Keyboard/32803290469.html

I can't solder and i don't have a soldering station/equipment, so most likely i won't go into modding my mkb from Gateron Blues to Gateron Greens, but we'll see. Maybe i can ask the mkb vendor to ask the mkb builder to offer me my mkb model with Gateron Greens. ( EDIT: i heard from the vendor that the mkb builder does not offer custom builds, probably because the factory does not have Gateron Greens in stock for the production line  :'( ) If all fails and i am getting desperate, i would consider buying the 104-pack and getting into DIY soldering after all.

But i am not feeling desperate enough yet  :))
