Todays Haul: Software
« on: Fri, 13 August 2010, 08:29:31 »
At work they were throwing away LOTS and LOTS of old software. So, of course, I took it. Here's what I got:

14 unused packs of Autocad 2004
Nero 5
Adaptec Toast CD burning software
Historian
Adobe GoLive CS
Roxio Easy Media Creator 7
VoicePad
Visual Age for Java (IBM Edition)
Visual C++ 6.0
Macromedia Web Design Studio 4
Adobe Digital Video Collection
Dell Dimension documentation and CD's (From sometime around 2001)
DataCAD from Cadkey for DOS (New in the wrapper).

All the software I got totaled about 6 very big boxes. I also got two rackmount UPS's.

I also brutally murdered a kernal-panicked eMac for its 40GB hard disk.

Our school threw out a lot of old floppy software (some of which was very good), but it was all for macs. Not DOS. oh well....

I just took the floppies and formatted them to be used in windows.

It's interesting they throw out software that wasn't even used; such a waste of money.

Yeah. I got a new, unopened box of CAD from 1988. And another from '94. And 14 unused packs of AutoCAD '04.

I picked up a shrink-wrapped version of Office 97 SBE, kind of funny finding that but the place had tons of old stuff where it was.

Office 97 is good software despite its age. Do you use it?

No, I use openoffice on my desktop whenever I have to but I have 2003, 2007 and 2010 on my various other computers and 95 on a 95 OSR2 virtual machine.  My dad uses 97 Pro.

I used to use Openoffice, but I got sick of having to keep downloading it and updating it. So I just went back to '97.
