That's the duck logo. And i think he went for a minimalist look similar to the orion v2 on the octagon v2

Ah okay.  I actually like the way the logo looks a lot.  I think I saw this keyboard on YT and it looked really nice.

I am guessing the old octagon is super rare and expensive by now?  :rolleyes:

I believe there were only 28 orders for that one on GeekHack with 35 Octagon boards being shipped in total through the GH groupbuy.

So the quantities ordered are a lot lower than the new v2 model.

The Octagon had a little nameplate on the top of the board that made the board an actual Octagon (albeit irregular). It gave it 8 sides, lol. There were two stickers, one with the logo, and one saying Octagon, though I think some people got personalized versions with their username instead.



I think the logo is the TrueCustom or Duck logo. I've seen it on the MX plates for the Orion v1 and the case for the Kingsaver, so that's where I'm getting my assumption from.

As to super rare and expensive? I don't know, really. I don't think there's been a sale for one for a while, so it's hard to say what the market value would be. It is a bit uncommon though. I think the original Orion only had like 13 orders, so it's probably one of the least common to see.

Damn that looks nice, the green coloring is sweet. Really hope I can get in on the buy for this when it starts.



Got my second Korean keyboard finished today! Octagon v2. Took some comparison shots with my Orion v2 :thumb:

PCB and top housings. Ran into some troubles while desoldering on the Octagon, (stupid lifted pads) had to jump but turned out fine.

Matching Ducks, Blue grey top - silver bottom.


Acrylic Angled Bottom On

Aluminum Bottom On


Zealio 65g Tactiles in the Orion v2 and Gateron Clears w/ 72g Sprit gold springs in the Octagon v2.

Ugh I just got my Orion v2 secondhand with gray WKL case and I only got the flat acrylic bottom.  I really want an angled or alu one but I am not sure if anyone is gonna sell me one...   :'(

I love everything else about the Orion, I have both Cherry and alps PCB's...

Anyway nice pics, I hear the zealios are quite nice.

The zealios do feel nice, but I'm definitely a linear man. I'm having a lot more fun with the gateron linears in my Octagon :p

As for the bottoms, I wish you luck. I would love an extra top housing myself, but that's pretty much gonna be impossible ha. You're in the relatively small Alps Orion club though :thumb:
 Which switches do you have on the pcbs? I've got one of the alps pcbs with skcl greens.

Got my second Korean keyboard finished today! Octagon v2. Took some comparison shots with my Orion v2 :thumb:

PCB and top housings. Ran into some troubles while desoldering on the Octagon, (stupid lifted pads) had to jump but turned out fine.

 Which switches do you have on the pcbs? I've got one of the alps pcbs with skcl greens.

I don't have the alps one assembled yet, the seller already had lubed 62g browns in the MX PCB, but I can't really try it as I need a keyset first.

Yeah I am lucky to get an alps kit, although I am pretty ****in pissed that we alps users don't get the esc lights and only have two RGB lights for the indicator lights while the MX PCB has everything. 

I hope I can get an alu bottom sooo bad, mods need to approve my WTB post first, I would settle for acrylic angled bottom as well I just don't like the flat one.

I'm not even into split keyboards but that is really nice with the backlight in between the boards.

Looks very sleek with the lock lights and bronze finish.  How much did it cost I daresay?
