Filco... I wish it was PLUM
...
Really? Filco is miles better in terms of quality. People have been begging for da Filco's...
Filco is fantastic if you want a Cherry MX keyboard. Because I'm so disenchanted with detachable cables and the problems they sometimes bring I'd put Filco above it's competitors. I also like the simplicity of it and having them not risk BIOS incompatibilities for a few extra keyroll that nobody will need anyway (ie: Who needs stock NKRO when you only have 10 fingers and five of them are on the mouse!?)
That being said, these days I'm leaning towards much more silent keyboards. If the Filco had the new silent Red / Black switches maybe I'd bite - but that's probably not going to happen.
I've had both the Royal Kludge RC930 45g/55g as well as Topre 30g/45g/55g and I like the 30g better. Problem is RF won't make a 87u ANSI w/ 30g weighting. Maybe I'm being hard on them and don't understand the issues with manufacturing logistics but if they pushed out a hundred boards as a special limited edition I can see them going in no time at all.
So that's where PLUM comes in. 35g in a 75% layout, presilenced with stabilizers prelubed from the factory. Is it what I truly want? NO. I'd prefer a Topre 87u silenced 30g ... but let's be realistic - that's never going to happen. The PLUM is as close as I'm going to get.
